Hi everyone. I have just completed my first 4 weeks-I lost 9 pounds and 6 inches! That is even cheating and eating a flourless, sugarless chocolate cake for Valentine's day!

I love hearing all the stories on this forum, so please keep it up; and Sasha, you are wonderful about keeping everyone's spirits up!

I still have about 30 pounds to go, and a vacation to make it through. It will be at the beach so lots of seafood- no problem- but no alcohol? That will be tough! My cabana boy won't know what to do with himself if he isn't bringing me gin and tonics on the beach! No red wine with dinner! I know this sounds like I am an alcoholic, I'm not. But I do like wine with my dinner! :)

I love looking at all the recipes people have come up with. I tried the mango curry sauce on cod and OMG! That was good!
I haven't had much luck cooking with the Sprite. Is there a secret?

Anyway, thanks for everyone out there!

VERY VERY VERY VERY WELL DONE!:jumping2:

And I lived through my beach vacation by getting iced coffee and tea and water in fancy glasses with umbrellas -- Once I even used my fruit allowance to have a slice of apple in my sparkling water (though I decided that was a waste of my fruit allowance, it was fun once). You'll keep your cabana boy CREATIVE with your drinks!

As for cooking with diet soda, I only tried it once with horrible results...any hints would be helpful!

WELL DONE and have fun!:clapping3:

{hi} there Lfulwood

{congrats} on having lost 9 pounds and 6 inches - WELL DONE!!

:crying: I'm just sorry to hear about the cake... because it will take your hormones a week to come back into the proper fat burning balance again, but so long as you promise not to do this again, I will be happy!

Remember it takes time for your hormones to come into balance, if you eat wrong every week, you will not achieve your goals of loosing weight successfully and that is not what we want!

:gurney:
Please note that you must not go for your blood test now - all that will show up is going to be that flourless, sugarless chocolate cake that you had for Valentine's day.

(You need to wait 2 weeks from your last deviation for Dr Cohen to get a clear indication of how you are really doing on the program.)

A wonderful beach drink will be cold tea mixed with diet sprite soda - your own ice-tea. Remember you are not allowed to buy commercial ice tea... You will be on diet for a limited time only - so try to maximize your results during that time.

About cooking in diet sprite soda... you only use a little, let's say you are making chicken - just pour over a little to swish in the pan... when it evaporates you can a bit more. The diet sprite helps to brown the chicken. Honestly, I prefer using balsamic vinegar or the vinegar dressing I posted in the recipe section - this is not just sweet, it is sweet and sour and to my mind more tasty. You could try using a bit of diet sprite mixed with some balsamic vinegar - and why not add some herbs to that...

I do like to cut apples into rings and then cook them in sprite zero - once again, just a little in the pan and top up when pan is dry and bottom of pan is browning. Mmmmm... when both sides are brown and your apple is soft, sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon Mmmmmm

How do you deal with salad dressing when eating out? Most vinegarettes are mostly oil. I plan on seafood being my staple when eating out along with vegetables or salad.

Hi, lfulwood!
Almost any decent restaurant will bring you oil and vinegar in separate bottles if you ask - sometimes balsamic vinegar. I have been caught out at several different types of restaurants, both high- and low-end, and all had this option.

BUT - I'm sure you know this already - restaurants are not the best way to stay on the 1PD! No matter how accommodating they are, you can't be sure of weights nor seasonings.

One great solution, if you're near a Whole Foods store: if you just can't bear eating at home one more time, Whole Foods will weigh out and grill your fish to your specifications, and you can get your veggies in the prepared foods section and have them weighed as well! When my husband and I get caught out at meal time, we go there and enjoy a meal out while staying perfectly loyal to 1PD! :innocent4:

{hi} Everyone

And, well done to Mrs Peel ... You have found a way to make this diet part of your Lifestyle... and I'm so glad to hear the option you and Mr Peel are taking - it's no wonder then that you have already lost 35 pounds!!

Thank you for sharing that excellent advice!
To me it is also always going to be balsamic vinegar or nothing! {cheerleader}

PS: Nice ticker I see you have there!!! :applause:
