Evolving into a healthy being takes changing from within, too. My hubby thinks because weight-loss comes effortlessly for him he can eat/diet whenever he wants. But studies show yo-yo dieting wreaks havoc on one's body! :wacky:

EVERYONE needs to be careful about what we put into our mouths, regardless if we lose faster or not. There is no guarantee that just "looking thin" means we're healthier on the inside!!! {noway}

I've been learning to choose what kinds of foods are most advantageous and especially WHERE I’m purchasing it, too. Organic, impurities, etc...has also been part of my transformation. It can’t all be just for vanity reasons. We need to nurture from within, too!:love3:

Sorry to sound so whiny, I’m just annoyed at my husband who thinks he was born with the best genes allowing him to eat and lose the weight whenever he wants!! Meanwhile his cholesterol is through the roof! I've been trying to get him to alter his eating life style for the better, which in return makes my life easier, too!

Thanks for letting me vent...

Best wishes, again for a healthy journey the Cohen's way!

Hi Kelli,

Vent here all you want... we're here for you. And we know you're here for us when we need to vent. I'm also trying to eat mostly organic and non-processed stuff. I'm going to remember your line "nurture from within". It might take a little of the sting out at the cash register!

Thanks,
Key

Because I am a breast cancer survivor I have given up many vices to be healthy. This food program is hopefully my last needed effort to correct what I'm eating. I am with you about eating as healthy as I can and buying much of produce organic and my chicken and meat is organic, raised without hormones. You know the saying, "You are what you eat!" I have definitely seen an improvement in my body and how I feel from being on this food program. Most important for me was giving up the chocolate. Funny... I don't crave sweets at all. I haven't been craving anything. I just feel hungry when it is close to the time to eat a meal again.

AquaEyes -

Congratulations on surviving breast cancer! Isn't it nuts the stuff that goes into food under the guise of health? Also, when I read that some lipstick has lead and mascara contains mercury, I changed my tune about cosmetics and realized that it's not just what we put in our bodies, it's also what we put on them.

Good morning Key, Aqua Eyes, and Cohen Buddies!

Thank God you're still with us Aqua Eyes! We can learn so much from your experience surviving Breast Cancer!:party8:

Im just trying to make "conscientious" choices about what kinds of organic alternatives are available by doing a little homework and reading labels. I'm not sold on every theory out there, but even making a few changes can increase our health! I realize cost may be an issue but in the long term our body will thank us for it! We sometimes never think twice about spending $100 on a pair of jeans or nice dress, but then squawk over expensive food alternatives! I agree Aqua Eyes, "we are what we eat!"

Trader Joe's is my favorite! Their selections and prices are just right for experimenting and many items have already become a staple in our home.

Right on Key! It's definitely not just "what" goes into our mouths but what's on our bodies, too! YIKES! I should let my friend know who bathes in self tanners to watch out!!!!

Bottom line: Moderation

Have a blessed day!

Kelli

Wow! This is exactly what I was thinking. My husband is super skinny and can eat whatever he wants and not gain a pound ever. Unfortuently he was raised on poor quality food (like Kraft products, white bread, etc) so that is what he prefers. Now that we have a 2 yr old daughter, I don't want her being raised on that same food so I told him I'm switching to buying wholesome organic foods that are full of nourishments. At first he made a face and would counter me about the taste and cost of buying organic. So I got him looking at the ingredients of food - there is tons of high fructose corn syrup, modified food starch & MSG in processed food. Now we only buy either organic (since they don't usually put any of that in their products) or we check the labels first.

As for me on this diet, I am eating organic fruits & veggies & meat, eggs, etc. There's a great book that explains the effect of pesticides, hormones & steriods in meat, eggs & milk and how it can cause someone to be overweight. It's called The 7 Principles of Fat Burning by Eric Berg. That is what convinced me to go Organic.

Glad to see there are others out there that care about this. :)
