Hey,

I've just figured out that my family is saving money by me being on this diet!!!
A simple calculation revealed that although I paid $249 for the diet and $35 for the blood test, I saved much more on snacks, beer (poor hubby), candy, chocolates, and eating out at restaurants (at least once a week). Also, we go to the movies once a week, so now we are saving the cost of the two 'large Popcorn' , which is about $15... x 4 times a month = $60 .
I have estimated my total monthly saving at around $350 - $400,which I happily add to our kids college savings or something even more important: A complete new wardrobe for me when I reach my goal weight!!!!:applause:

Moderators, I suggest a new slogan: “Lose weight and Save money with the 1st Personal Diet”! :party6:

I wish I could say that I was saving lots of money since on the diet....but i've been spending more. I'm now going to the store more often for my fresh produce. So when i'm there I manage to pick up a new novel...new nail polish...new tupperware....new kitchen gadget. My husband said he might have to take over the grocery shopping if I keep spending. Now....that might not be a bad thing.

Hi Amylynn, I had the same problem...my solution was to go to a fruit/vegetable market, a meat shop, etc. instead of a superstore which had all sorts of temptations. Also, if you're at a meat shop, you don't see the bakery/cookie aisle/cake mix area etc. every time you shop.

I decided early on that I wasn't going to buy any new clothes unless I MADE the money to buy them by NOT buying stuff that made me fat...but to do that, I ended up not buying the novels, nail polish, tupperware either. Just another one of those choices.

Another good thing was to only buy fruits/veggies/meats from your diet foods list when they were on sale: when steaks were on sale, I'd often buy ALL of them, cut them up into my portion sizes, put em in freezer bags, and live off them for months.

{hi} there AmyLynn

Life is about balance and right now you are replacing your old eating habits with new healthier habits and that is a process... and it is not always easy in the light of what everyone else around you may be doing...

Lots of ladies find that now that they are not buying the sweet treats, that they still want to buy something occasionally to make themselves feel "SPECIAL''...

My personal opinion is: if you need new Tupperware or a new kitchen gadget: go for it girl! (I'm not saying buy for the sake of buying... but you will know what you need and could really benefit from...) Things that support your new healthy lifestyle are a good idea: such as a food steamer...

I do not think that treating yourself to a new nail polish or a nice novel is excessive. Every girl needs to fill her love cup... :flirt: by this I mean do something that makes you feel special and cared for... after all, your husband does like it when you hands look nice and cared for. Filling your love cup is especially important if you are always giving of yourself to others!

If you keep giving out without filling up, you will run empty and :noway: do we want that to happen!!

While being on diet there can come a time when you get tired of just watching everyone else eat... if you are not careful, you could feel a bit deprived... that is not a good place to be.

I find that when ladies do treat them selves to special goodies other than food, their lives broaden to the point where food is no longer an issue and they don't feel deprived... There are many ways to do this... a bubble bath, something you buy, spending time in a good book, going for coffee with your best friend, starting a new hobby, fixing up your garden... just to name but a few...

The key is in finding a good healthy balance and to enjoying your life...

I recommend that you do try some of the recipe's ~ recently I've been telling the ladies to try the Zucchini Hash Brown's... by replacing old ''bad'' cooking habits with new healthy ones your life will not feel empty... learning to make nice healthy foods for you and your family while being on diet means that you will be more likely to continue to use these healthier options and ideas when you are at your goal and it will be easier for you to maintain your progress if you do this because you are creating a new healthier lifestyle....
