View Full Version : Size and Weight

Just wanted to comment how remarkable it is to me that my size is so much smaller at this weight than it was the last time I dieted and got lower.
In 2005, I went from 248 to 192 on the 6 week body makeover. It's a good diet, but, interestingly enough, more restricted in ways than this diet.
However, at 192 I was NOT in a size 14 pair of jeans. At 197 I am wearing the very size 14 jeans I bought back then (still had the tags on them), but couldn't fit into.
I am most amazed at how my stomach has nearly disappeared. I am big busted, so when my stomach sticks out farther than my chest, it's a travesty (meaning I'm way fat :) ). That's where I was at when I started this diet. Now, my stomach is flatter (not flat) than it's been in 19 years. Wacky.
Anyone else amazed at how the weight on the scale doesn't seem to match the size you are?
I know I've commented before that sometimes the scale stays the same while the body changes. And, conversely, the body sometimes seems to stay the same while the scale drops.
I love this diet.

OH No Just4Me - what's going on? Tell us about it. Maybe we can help. (hug)
Suzanne
PS - if it makes you feel better, if you have less to lose, I think it doesn't go as fast. The first 30 came off quickly, but now I'm where you are. I have the last 55 to lose and it won't go so fast. So, now we're in the same boat.

{hi} there Suzanne
YES!!! Many Diet Buddies report being smaller in size than what they were in size previously at the exact same weight! {boing}
The reason for this is that on other diets, you may have lost muscle and fat, where as on
Dr Cohen’s 1st Personal Diet Program you lose fat, not muscles. The main reason for this being that Human Growth Hormone helps to preserve and tone muscles, while losing fat.
So, YAAAAY for you for fitting into a size 14 jeans!!! {wave}
Please keep up the {goodjob}

Hey Shasha - I'm thinking of buying a pair of 12's, today, for motivation!!!
Wouldn't that be something? The thought makes me giddy.

I have to agree. I weighed myself the other day and was not happy with the loss (I know only weigh yourself once a month). Anyway I thought even if the weight loss wasn't big I felt different.... so ... I went to my closet and pulled out a few suits I have kept way too long.... 8 years too long. First I tried on one size and.... it was baggy so I went to the next smaller size... it fit. I must say I broke down in tears. I am very short and stocky and to fit into something from 8 years ago was incredible.
For all those out there who may not be happy with the weight loss we are changing in more ways than one... keep the faith :praying:and stay true to diet ...it is working!! :clapping3:
:party1: 'old' new clothes!!! Keep it up!

WOW Orlando - that's amazing. I'm not surprised it moved you to tears. I think I'll join you with tears of joy when I find myself solidy in the 180's. That's territory I haven't visited in over 19 years.
Congrats!

YEAH...the clothes and sizes are amazing! I needed a new dress for Easter so I ordered one from JCPenney (used a discount and free shipping coupon) and since the dress is a wrap style (brown and white floral print...pretty bold for me!) and it said it can custom fit to your size I figured, what the heck, and ordered a size 12! It arrived yesterday and IT FITS!!!!! I was blown away! Then...on the way to Detroit we ate dinner at CrackerBarrel restaurant and I checked out their 50% off rack in their store and found the perfect brown, one button at the top, 3/4 sleeve, cropped sweater to go with the dress!!! And it's a size medium!!
Yee Haw!!
Phyllis (rest assured, that's NOT me in the picture below...it's a model!)
Wat to go Phyllis!:weights2:
The dress is beautiful- size 12 wow- thats so good.
I love a good CrackerBarrel, I think thats one reason we
always drive down south, just to go to a CrackerBarrel.
Enjoy your dress:)

Hi Key... I live west of Ann Arbor near Dexter. Where are you???
The dress should look even better on me once I get some nylons that are the correct size...when I tried it on the other day it was over my long underwear which made it look a little goofy!!!
:)
Hi Phyllis - the image of you in that lovely dress with your longjohns beneath it made me laugh! And guess what! We're neighbors. I'm just west of you in Jackson.

Cool, Key!! We should have a Michigan 1st Personal Diet convention!!! I'm hoping a lot of my aquaintances will be joining us, too... Soooo many people want all the details of the diet now that they see what remarkable results I've had! People just stand in awe when I tell them that I've lost 101 pounds in 8 months!!
The other day at a conference a co-worker took pictures and posted them on Facebook....I almost didn't recognize myself!! I still think of myself as the big cow that I once was and when I see myself now it's totally amazing!!! Pretty cool, too!

Hey Phyllis,
I can't wait to see you in that dress! It is beautiful! Please post pictures wearing it!
Hey Phillis - a Michiagn convention is a great idea! I only know of you in Michigan... can't wait for others to come forward. 101 pounds in eight months is phenomenal! This friday marks my first month on the program... and my first weigh in! Out of curiosity, I measured myself over the weekend and I've lost 3" off bust, 3" off waist, and 2" from my hips. I'm totally pleased.

YES! Here is the thread I've been looking for!!!! Suzanne and everyone, it's sooooo true that my physical body is totally different in SIZE than in WEIGHT! I hit the 170s last week and purchased several SIZE 10 dresses!!!! Everything that's a 12 in my closet is a little droopy on me and the 10s are a bit tight, but NOT FOR LONG!!!
CRAZY, but most of my old clothes are 10s and here I am easily 20 pounds heavier than when I bought them......what will my size be when I'm done and at GOAL WEIGHT? That kind of freaks me out sometimes because I'm broad shouldered and tall. I'm guessing I'm going to have to get really cozy with a seamstress for alterations. I have jackets I just LOVE that I'm going to have to have re-made....or is it cheaper to buy new? Anyone know??? I DON"T SEW, so I am not the answer and I am a professional woman who needs quality clothes so it's not cheap to dress me either. Advice would be welcomed!!!

Hey Key...have you read the posts by Gail?? Do a search...they are WONDERFUL! Anyhow, she's a friend (and fellow trumpet player) of mine...the one who told me about this diet and saved my life! She lives in Ann Arbor. There is another fellow dieter who lives in Pinckney...haven't seen any posts by her in a while....hmmmm, where are you?
Pinked... I ordered a swim suit yesterday from LLBean online sale...I ordered the smallest size available (10)...are you telling me that it may be too BIG in May???? I'm going with my hubby to one of his annual meeting conventions at Walt Disney World. It's gonna be a real challenge food-wise but I think I'll be able to do it. I may be only 10 pounds away from goal by that time if I keep up the rate of weightloss as I have been doing. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...

WOW Pinked! Is seems incredible to be able to wear smaller sizes when the scale doesn't seem to match up. Congrats on buying 10's!! I look forward to getting there. If I'm in 14's @ 195, at 170, I should be just getting into a 10. Incredible.
Suzanne
Phyllis - thanks SO MUCH for suggesting I look up Gail's posts - such terrific information as well as inspiration!
You know, it's so great having such a strong support system through this board. I know I could do this by myself but having you all here and learning from you is so much nicer. Thanks to everyone.

Hi Stephanie,
I am a professional woman too. I work at a funeral home and am almost done with my education to be a funeral director. I understand about having to wear good clothes and not wanting to spend a fortune on them. I usually go to the Goodwill, or there are a couple of really nice consignment shops in my area, Bloomington,IN. So, look around and you can find some nice things with tags still on them a lot of times. This is the inbetween season, so go look at clearance stuff and see what you can piece together for seperates and mix and match some stuff up. Remeber, this is only for a short time and by fall you should be able to buy in your size at your favorite place with no problem.
Good luck,
Cindy

You all are so motivating! I'm really looking foward to seeing what I look like when I reach my goal. It's been at least 10 - 15 years since I've been there.
