Since the first week on this diet I have been cold! Yes, it's winter and yes, I live in Utah....but we've had spring like weather here and that doesn't warm me up. I'm cold all the time and am typically HOT all the time and can wear shorts in the house year round. Now I feel like the Pillsbury Dough Boy in multiple layers.
Is it because I'm drinking so much water??? Have you felt chilly? This is going to be great when it's 110 outside!

You're losing your fat layers... so your are losing your natural insulation!

02-27-2009, 11:48 AM
I agree ~ it's our layers of fatty insulation melting away.
I get chills in waves sometimes, and often after I drink water. That's probably because of the water temperature chilling the body. But, yes. In general, I'm chillier.

Hi Pinked,
I feel the same way... cold all of the time when I am normally very warm. The nice thing is that my clothes are getting baggy so I dont mind. This is the first time I have ever lost more than 10lbs, even with several failed attempts. Hang in there you may be cold on the inside but increasingly "Hot" on the outside. Have a great day! I have been to Utah by the way... what a lovely place.

Stephanie,
I loved your post!! I am freezing all the time too.. I figure I have lost 30+ pounds of insulation and my body is not adjusting as quickly as I am losing the weight. It works great though because in a few months we will be in the 100s again and I will be loving it! Usually I am miserable when temps hit that high. I can't wait!! :clapping3:
Cheers to freezing!!! {boing}

Thank you very much sdp126:) and congratulations to you as well.
Hope you day is filled with smiles.
I was always warm, and now I am cooler in the same situations. We usually keep the operating rooms below 69 and I was either comfortable or warm sometimes depending on the surgery, now I am cold most of the time no matter what.
I cant wait to freeze :)

I feel cold most of the time now. I found -40 socks to wear and a use an electric blanket whenever I am home. I dress in layers always and I now wear a beanie hat to stay warmer. :party1: I can't wait till the summer!!

YUP....cold here, too!!! I have found that long underwear are wonderful! I bought Cuddle Duds at JCPenney when they were on sale. I've heard that silk long johns are great, too! Hopefully Spring will be here soon and we'll warm up slightly!
The other thing I've noticed is that when it's really really cold outside my weightloss slows down...it's like my body insisting that I can't lose weight cuz I'll freeze to death! I have a little heater under my desk in my office and that has helped a lot at school!!
STAY WARM DIET BUDDIES!

Thanks, great to know we are all 'cool' - in lots of ways! Now I don't feel so bad about wearing socks, fuzzy pjs, a long robe and cranking my electric blanket to 7 to just 'warm up the bed'.

WOW! I am so glad someone asked about the body temperature.. I couldn't explain why I wasn't having the usual hot flashes. Really, I am constantly cold now and even have a heater on at work... I live in central Florida not Utah lol

I wish I was in florida now! Ohio weather is so cold!! At least it is March now and we will have warmer days occassionally. I wonder if I will be comfortable now during the summer or if I will still be cold or hot. First summer I have been this skinny since I was in 9th grade!

LOL, this is hilarious.
I wear my down parka everywhere. And I have a heating pad that has saved me this winter.
And in hawaii, I had to buy a shortie wetsuit because I was still too cold even with the 80 degree water.
I can not wait for summer!!!!!! Bring on the heat!

It was 90 here today.... I'm not cold except for the office where they keep it 76!!!
I'm always cold... I'm a native of Phoenix... I thrive in 110!
We just got our first real snow (more than an inch) in 5 years today.........it's cold. Ended the night with 6 inches of snow. Still cold.

{hi} there PINKED & all the BBBBbbbbrrrrr Buddies!!
Yes, for sure, fat = your insulation and as you are losing fat so fast, your body is not yet use to the missing insulation – hence the feeling cold. It will take some time, but your body will adjust and yes, summer will be much more pleasant than it was before...
Please do whatever is necessary to stay warm, firstly by dressing warmly, thermal undies and socks are great – so are heated bean bags, heated pads, heated slippers etc – I really recommend making plenty of soup! {pot} The hot water combined with your meals is will probably keep you feeling full longer – so I heard on a TV show and it makes sense if you think about it.
A hot bath is really great for defrosting cold bones! {shower}
About drinking your water – winter is especially difficult for many Diet Buddies – I recommend warming the water by adding some boiling water. By drinking warm water, or even hot water with a slice of lemon, you won’t feel that cold after drinking water. If adding just a slice of lemon (and not squeezing) you don’t need to count this as part of your fruit – if you want to squeeze lemon juice simply use fruit from your allowance.
If all else fails: steal a bit of body heat and SNUGGLE UP CLOSE!! :love5:
Happy Slimming everyone!!
PS: MrED: Love the SNOW MAN!!!

Wow! I am so glad to have seen this thread! I am constantly freezing. I have to sleep with my heating blanket on high and before the weight loss I woke up sweating every night. I HATE being cold, but the weight loss does make up for it. I can not wait until my body adjusts. I have been dressing in layers glore. It helps to have some of those fat clothes to put back over my new skinny ones for warmth! LOL

Shasha, I printed this off and told the wife it was an order. Hope you don't mind ;)
Hi Pinked! I'm very new here. This is my first time to post, but I saw that you were from Utah so I had to say hi. I live in Fruit Heights. I have just completed my first week on the diet, so I haven't lost enough yet to atribute it to anything other than the Utah weather! Unfortunately, it looks like we have more snow coming! I look forward to losing enough weight to have to wrap up in something warm in front of a roaring fire!

LOVE everyone's comments here! It's great to know that I'm not alone and yes, Shasha, the snuggle factor is helpful and mandatory in my house now. I don't even mind if the dog is on our bed because she sleeps on my feet.
MrEd - love the snowman. You sure are young!! hahaha:applause: I crack myself up sometimes.
Dee and Nana - fellow Utah girls!!! Nice to meet you!!! I'm in E Mill Creek and moved to SLC from Atlanta 6 years ago. I am looking forward to summer this year, never have in the past as I'm a snow girl.
Stay toasty everyone!

Well, I am encouraged to know that I can finally put to use all the sweaters I own that I never really used.... I am freezing, night and day and I think our electric bill is going up this month. The kids love it because they can wear short sleeves... and it is only March! Stay warm everyone! Just think.... we are going to start excersising to stay warm....and that will be our goal rather than burning those extra calories!

Sooooo funny, my husband and I are both on this diet and have truly been freezing ourselves off. We cuddle so much more at night then we ever did. Funny story... we were at my families house a week ago with jackets on and a blanket wrapped around us. Everyone else was in short sleeves and complaining that the house was tooooo warm. I am so glad I found this thread because it sure explains a lot and also makes me realize that we aren't alone! I don't think I go a day without long sleeves except for yesterday! Utah was nice, sunny and warm!!! Looking forward to summer for the first time in a long time! Yaay for shedding fat layers!
Me too! I have such a chill in my bones, day & night. My favorite is at night is to go up to bed and drink camomile tea under the covers to warm up(plus the tea puts me to sleep). I also love to turn up the heat in the car and crank up the heated seats, my husband thinks he lost 5 pounds on our last road trip..lol.

YUP....I'm cold, too. Started a fire in the woodstove this evening to take the chill out of the house. I CANNOT WAIT FOR WARM/HOT TEMPS!!! Supposedly by Friday it's supposed to warm up to the 60's!!! YEA!!! Previously I've sweated like a pig during the hot humid summer weather....I bet this summer my sweating will be not so much! Double Yea!!!

MMMMmmm!!! I also love chamomile tea… ;)
I found that a quickish warm bath {shower} also helps to get the chill out of your bones quiet fast – but don’t be tempted to stay in till the bath cools down…

Brrrr....still snowing in Utah! Incredible!
I finally get to experience what my dearest of skinny friends deal with feeling cold all the time! Now I'm becoming one, too!
I actually look forward to the chills at night because it makes me feel like my body is using fuel to burn the fat:weights:, waking up lighter on the scale to boot! Then it's hubby's turn to turn on the heat!:eyebrow: (but lately, the chill has made me sleep infantile, all curled up in a ball that he stands no chance!)
Im true 100% and it's been an exhilarating feeling, I don't want it to stop!

I am so glad i found this thread. I have noticed that I'm cold. Today was the worst at work i was so cold that I had to put a sweater on. Even that didn't help me. I'm always the one complaining about being hot.. The girls at work were making jokes since they're always cold and now it's the other way around.
I'm glad to at least know why I'm cold now. :innocent2:

Cold?! I'm freezing and we are still in autumn in the southern hemisphere! I'm already wearing my woolly socks and thermals during the day, and at night I can't go to bed until my bed is all warmed up by the electric blanket! What am I going to do in the middle of the winter! Brrrr!

What is going on? I am freezing today and last night. I would never say that I am cold, not in my office. It is in the 80's today. I literally have goosebumps and I am not a goosebump kind of gal. I guess I would have never believed it was because of getting SKINNY and dumping all that fat!!!!
I am so glad I'm not the only one with the 'being cold' problem. We live in Namibia which is a really hot country and where we live it's even hotter as we are basically situated in the desert! Problem is, I dont like Winter and I don't like being cold! My fiance doesnt think it's funny when I sleep under two duvets! He is really warm bodied; great for me! Awful for him especially when I press my cold feet against his legs! haha
Do any of you also have the problem of having a cold often all of a sudden? Since starting this diet, I cant seem to get rid of mine! Help?
Marie
Yes being cold is common on the diet. I drink my tea, and enjoy cranking the heat up when I'm in the car- my family thinks I'm nuts. My husband is always warm so I'm constantly sticking my cold feet by him-lol. It was explained to me several months ago, that we are losing our insulation.
Good luck & stay warm :)

I do not think I have any left :-). I am freezing and since I have to rebuild a whole new wardrobe, I am scrambling around trying to find warm stuff. Being cold was not an issue a few months ago, but I will take it now. :clapping:

I remember from somewhere that being cold is indication that the growth hormone is doing its job. I'm always cold so I add another layer of clothing and enjoy the weight loss!

I'm always cold too. I have a heater in my office, a heater by my couch at home, and a down comforter on my bed. Plus I buddle up with sweaters/sweatshirts, slippers, and blankets. And I live in the South! lol. I am looking forward to 100 degree weather as well! :)

Hello Pinked
I am so glad I found your post. I live here in sunny Californina, although anyone visiting from out of town recently would think we are all lying about the sun. Lots of rain and even snow, right here in Los Angeles. About the freezing thing, FREEZING is absolutely right. I used to be hot hot hot all the time, and now I cant get even a bit warm. Everyone tells me its cause I dont have as much body fat to keep me warm but I have a feeling its also because we arent eating hardly any carbs and very little food, at least not as much as we used to. I remember my co-workers would get mad at me for having the A/C on during the winter. Now my co-workers come into my office and complain its always too hot. I find especially my hands are cold all the time. Just "layer" your clothes and remember, summer is right around the corner.
