Greetings to anyone and all who are reading this message. I would like to introduce myself--I began the diet about 6 weeks ago and have had quite good success. At my 4 week weigh-in I had lost 26 pounds! A nice, quick loss. However, isn't it amazing how when your clothes get too big and the number on the scale gets smaller, you just feel like it's not happening fast enough? Anyone else having this? I'm amazed at the diet and how I'm not even tempted to cheat at all, but some days I'm not sure of it all...

Any advice?
Leanne.

Hi Leanne and welcome

Isn't it amazing how you melt away ... :rolling2:

For me the reward was the SHOPPING !!! Getting clothes in a "normal" clothing shop and feel like a WOMAN again!!!
:party2:

It is about the small things like the ring that can be taken off, the underwear I can buy now .. and many other thingssssss.:embarrassment:

{hi} Leanne

A very WARM WELCOME TO YOU!!!

{congrats} on having lost 26 pounds in your first 4 weeks !!! That is fantastic!!!

Despite your fantastic progress you still said you: 'feel like it is not happening fast enough'...

Now I know that there may be some people reading this who said if only that could be me... or I wish I could loose weight that fast. Other people may even venture to say you have lost too much weight too fast...

Despite your fantastic progress you still feel this is all happening too slowly :-(

I believe that this means that you are probably one of those go getter type of people and you feel that you wanted everything to be finished yesterday! The sooner the job gets done the better. The first problem is you did not start a year ago! :plane: and... if only you had started a year ago...

The second problem is we live in an instant world, which further makes some of us think that everything can be instant, just so long as you JUST ADD WATER....

Take for example instant coffee JUST ADD WATER, instant lawn JUST ADD WATER and it grows, instant pools JUST ADD WATER, etc and these can leads us to expect everything to happen right here and right now... as long as you JUST ADD WATER...

Now living in this instant world could very well tempt you to hope for instant weight loss because Dr Cohen says to ADD 2 LITERS OF JUST WATER... {rofl}...

Truth of the matter is you have had stunning progress!

But you need to remember that you did not gain the excess weight overnight and that your body NEEDS time to return to health and wellness. Please allow your body the time it needs without becoming impatient.

For now I recommend that you focus on other things such as hobbies... the more you keep busy with things you love and enjoy, the quicker the time will pass by.

I really look forward to seeing your progress in 2 weeks from now! In the meantime: HAPPY DIETING!!!

Thank you for your posts, moderators. I think that you are right about my progress. I'm really thrilled with my "shrinking" in such a short time. I guess I just am reminded of the troubles that occurred in my life that contributed to my weight gain and I'm eager for them to also melt away.

{hi} there Leanne

Just keep your focus on that fact that every day you are taking a step further away form the past.

You are where you are right now! The old you less 26 pounds... but you are still looking back...

I want you to stop looking back, and to focus only on LOOKING FORWARD!!! {cheerleader}

I want you to picture yourself walking to your new Healthy Future...

{oops} do you see that if you keep looking backwards over your shoulder and focusing on the past instead of looking foward and focusing at where you are going, you are going to bump into a pole or something...

So, forget about what lies behind and FOCUS ONLY ON THE FUTURE!

YOU ARE GOING TO LOOK GREAT & FEEL GREAT AGAIN!!! {cheerleader}

Well, apparently it's not just me who feels that the loss is happening too slowly. I just got a message that Dr. Cohen thinks my progress should be happening more quickly. It's so frustrating because I'm doing all I can to be successful!!

Hi Leanne,

Congratulations on your 26 pounds!!! That is truly amazing. I know exactly what you mean about wanting it faster though. I just finished my 4th week and am down 12.4 pounds. The more it comes off and the looser my clothes fit the more I want to be done! It'll happen as it's supposed to though and if we stick to our guns it'll be well worth the wait. I am looking at this process as my punishment for having let myself go so badly for so long. I'm actually enjoying the diet so far and am finding it a lot easier to stick to than I thought I would. Hang in there. I'm not sure why Dr. Cohen thinks it wasn't fast enough, but I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. Stay in contact with your consultants and with these moderators and they'll all help to get you thru!

Way to go! Sounds like we're all enjoying this diet, but having our personal struggles, too. It's been almost 7 weeks and things are still plugging along. I've got a cold, but it doesn't seem to be as severe as some I've had before--it's par for the course, seeing as I teach in a High School (lots of germs).

Seems to me that the "rush" to lose does stem from the remembrance of "snacks past" etc. It's great to be able to support one another in this way.

Keep it up!

I am getting closer to my week 4 weigh in (on Saturday). My clothes are getting looser. Every time, i look in the mirror I think I should look better than I do. So, I understand how you want the weight to come off even faster. So do I! I'm ready to look like a hot mama NOW!!! But I keep saying to myself that I will look great this summer in a bathing suit.

{hi} there Leannevanb

Don't be dissapointed, I don't think that Dr Cohen would send you an e-mail saying that your weight loss is too slow because you are unique and your return to health and wellness is also going to be a unique journey. Due to this, client's never get compared to 'what they should have lost' because everyone is so very different.

:bighug:
What you have probably received is most likely your blood test results which may have been not quiet 100%. If your blood tests were not 100% you would have been asked to go through a Check List to see and make sure that you are following your program 100% and that you are not making any ongoing mistakes that could in the long term slow your progress down.

:bighug:
You mention having a cold - if you were having the cold when your blood test were done, this may very well be the cause of the not quiet 100% blood test results.

YOU ARE DOING REALLY GREAT!!! JUST PLEASE KEEP GOING!!!

With regards to Plateau's - please now that they are a normal part of every weight loss program. The good news is that even during your plateau on the 1st Personal Diet Program, you are still burning fat, but your body is retaining water so you do not see your loss on the scale.

The best thing would be to realise that you are not going to loose all the excess weight overnight - it was not gained overnight and so you will need to allow your body the time it needs to adjust.

Make this a time where you experiment with new foods, make new friends, and pamper yourself...
I want you to ENJOY YOUR DIETING! It is the rediscovering of the HEALTHY YOU! {cheerleader}

Why don't you try making the zucchini hash browns... They are really nice and don't taste like anything diety - when you make them you won't feel like you are on diet and your family will enjoy them too!!!

Everyone, PLEASE KEEP GOING!!!! You're all doing well, and are examples of what we all already know: EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT and will react differently as we go through the diet process.

The good news: We've all found something that WORKS, and Dr. Cohen was nice enough to lay it all out for us in a very straightforward manner, easy to follow and incredibly workable! THANKS DR. COHEN!

You ALL ARE DOING GREAT! Yes, there are frustrations, and some things that just flat out don't make sense "I'm doing everything I can -- why aren't I losing weight faster?"

One hint: (and Sasha said it earlier): DRINK WATER! Make sure you're taking AT LEAST what you've been told to drink -- MEASURE IT!!! The 1PD Guide says to get a 1 litre cup and empty it twice during that day-- make sure you're doing that.

I found that especially at the beginning I THOUGHT I was drinking enough water, and then I realized that though my water glasses were "12 oz glasses" I WASN'T FILLING THE GLASS TO THE TOP (or was adding ice), and therefore was fairly consistently 2-3 oz short with every glass I drank. I was well below minimum on my water intake.

Once I fixed that my weight started going down fairly predictably.

SO, (and as you can see from the ticker above) I did fairly well :-) -- but without the right amount of water, my weight loss slowed WAY DOWN.

I'm not sure that Dr. Cohen says anything about this in the guide, but I also found that if I drank coffee or soda with caffeine that I'd need MORE water -- at least 1 glass per each cup of coffee. I think maybe that caffeine makes you lose water quickly? I don't actually know, but I got into the habit of drinking a glass of water every time I had a cup of coffee or a diet soda.

Hope all this helps, and YOU KEEP GOING -- The "Hot Mama" bathing suit season is right around the corner!! (I might actually buy a bathing suit this year) Luv, Gail

Good Advice Gail!

I kept a journal during my diet and wrote down my weight, amount of pounds total (lost) and amount of pounds lost for the week, every week. I really did see a pattern, I know Dr. Cohen mentions that and it's true. Except for the first month I had one week every month where I didn't see any weight loss on the scale but then I'd drop 3 or 4 pounds the next week. I usually averaged 2 pounds per week which is alot. I wasn't even losing one pound a week on other diets. Also if you do everything right, your body is getting smaller even though the scale isn't moving. And if 2 weeks without a loss is considered a plateau then I never had one. I have a blue jean story, I tried on a smaller pair that I bought. I couldn't get them all the way up. 3 days later I could wear them comfortably. In 3 days!! That was truly amazing.

Something that also helped me when the scale didn't move fast enough was this section that was in my materials:

"Remember that you are still breaking down fat during these “plateau” periods, but the growth hormone is dissolving the fat in the water so you will weigh water when you get on the scale, and you'll notice that you are not running to the rest room as often in this period!"

gail! :flower:
well, what can i saw other than: u have my fullest admiration!!
not only that u "act" as if u were a cohen-first-grader and r back in the diet-evenz, but also that u r so patient and modest, never really angry and frustrated!!
well, girl, i tell u i'd b waaaay more impatient, if i had not come off the diet 4 as long as u have and i envy your patience and happy attitude. (i admit i'm quite impatient).

so, u do really great and i take a leaf out of your book!!
u rock!!! :party6:

i have the same opinion on the water-issue!
i admit it wasnt only the wrong vitamin-pills the consultanz allowed, but also that i woke up every morning being thhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrsssssssssssssssssstttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt tttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

and as the diet spoiled me and made me start drinking coffee a week ago, which i refrain from drinking 1,5 decades, i realize again, how much coffee dries up the body and makx me loose "weight" even quicker... but thaz just water!!!!
so ,i do as u say and as i tell myself 4 almost 6 weex now, and take a huge glass 2 b filled 5 times a day!!!!
:party7:

cheerio, mrs. gailstout!!
