View Full Version : How badly did I mess up?

Hopefully I didn't mess up to badly but I took a tip from someone that said they were most satisfied between meals when they ate meat. The time between lunch and dinner is really hard for me so I took this advice and ate my portion of meat. When I went to make my veggie's (salad) I discovered that my diet doesn't give the option of meat for meal 2. Only meal 3. It was a completely brain **** type of mistake! I cut all my meats up into the correct portions when I first buy them and label them all in seperate baggies with the # of grams, # grams veggies they go with and "breakfast, lunch or dinner"...if I had only read my meat bag I would have seen it said "dinner" but I didn't! Did I just mess up my diet?!?!
By the way - the tip worked!

Hi Flwrgrlie
First, you can eat your three meals in any order you want. 1, 2, 3 or 3, 2, 1 or 1, 3, 2, etc. This is the reason they are called meals 1, 2, 3 and not breakfast, lunch and dinner. :thinking:
Second, you must eat all the food listed in your meal choice at the time of your meal. This includes protein and the vegetables.
:hungry:
You may eat fruit and crackers between meals. If you find the meat to be the most filling choice, you are advised to choose that meal. Not every customer has meat on both meal #2 and meal #3, as these plans are based on customers’ blood test results, which differ.
Third, no protein is allowed between meals. {noway}
The separation of the proteins by a minimum of 5 hours intervals is one of the basic rules of this program.
Storing the meat and vegetables portions in marked bags is an excellent idea. Just remember that you may eat meal 3 at lunch and meal 2 for dinner on the same day. No two choices of meal #2 and no two choices of meal #3 on the same day. You need to have one choice of meal #1, one choice of meal #2 and one choice of meal #3 every day.
You did not “mess up” but please follow your meal plan and eat all your food at the time of the meal, not before or after.
:party4:
I know so well how you feel and the best way to handle this is by (a) utilizing your snack options (crackers and fruit) and (b) keeping yourself occupied with anything but food.

hi, wilma :flower: or moderator on duty (?) ;)!!
one maybe stupid question i have since the beginning (which i never wanted 2 adress)....
is the 5 hour interval ment from end of one meal 2 beginning of the next one or from start 2 start? {idk}
(i want 2 go by the book and make no mistake, as i dont seem 2 have lost weight 4 quite a while now! :rolling:

{hi} there Cyberella
5 hours is 5 hours starting from the time you finish your meal, to the time you may begin your next meal ie: if breakfast is at 7am and you are finished at 7:15am, your next meal may only start at 12:15... but, you can wait until 1 pm.
Your next 5 hours begin from the time you finish your meal. {tweety}
Shasha, Cyberella,
No wonder I never thought to ask this question - it takes me exactly ONE minute to finish these "HUGE" meals, i.e. my starting time = finishing time (+60 seconds) ...:laughing:

hey, mama... u make my day-- thank good i'm not alone!
well, i asked this question, cause sometimes i have 2 interrupt and fix my boybee the same food, as he wanz 2 have mine, and mine is measured!! so, then i take a little longer 4 my meal..hahaha
well, no, sometimes i take longer- esp. when i do my fruit allowance with the cream-cheese- iz a bit of a portion. and meal 2 is also a whole plate full! :party6: oh yeah!!
happy dieting 2 u, my dear!!!
I know what you mean when somebody is trying to take your 'measured' food...
I remember my sister (who finished this diet a couple of months ago, after losing 115 lbs!)
telling me that one day she was going to have her lunch at work when she dropped few pieces of lettuce (out of the measured lettuce) on the floor... She was staring at the lettuce on the floor for long time, almost crying...

I'm so glad it's not only me....
My first day on the diet, I was waiting for my 5 hr interval to be up so I could have my dinner. I was STARVING so I was munching on my crackers. On my last one (they go way to fast!) a nice chunk of my cracker fell on the floor...I just stared at it...so was my dog...My husband looked at me and said "you're going to fight the dog for it aren't you?"
Luckily things have gotten much better but I am very careful to not spill any. Those few morsels of food (whatever it may be, letttuce, meat, crackers) are PRECIOUS!

My Poor Diet Buddies!
{grouphug1}
HANG IN THERE AND BE STRONG!!!
This is not going to carry on forever...
Perhaps it will help if you think of it this way: while you are on diet, your body is EATING food from 2 places:
1) Your carefully weighed and precious food portion &
2) The food stored up in your grocery cupboards situated on your hips and thigh's...
So, every time you think the food is less than you wanted, just grab one of those grocery cupboards and tell them to empty out their contents faster!
Hang in there and BE STRONG!!!

Sasha,
You guys are really great at giving this a positive prospective/outlook. I used to hate drinking so much water simply because of how often I would have to use the restroom (at my work it's not near where I work so it's an even larger pain) but someone wrote that you should think of it like this "every time you go to the restroom you are flushing away fat." Now, I don't mind those walks to the bathroom or the interruptions they cause. I LOVE IT! I've passed that wonderful bit of diet knowledge to my friends...you can see the lightbulb go on once I say it. It's a great way to look at things. Same for the pantry in my tummy and thighs. While I still have a rather large selection for my body to choose from, it's getting smaller by the day! Thank you for your positive outlook and for passing it on!{cheerleader}

{hi} there Ladies
I believe the secret to where on your body you loose weight from first is hidden in your genes... and we cannot change that!
Cyberella doesn't want to loose weight in her bust :rolling2: and Mrs Peel wants to loose weight in her bust! Isn't life just like that! {rofl} It is so typical: if you have straight hair you want it curly, if you have curls you long for straight hair...
Oh boy! What are we to do... ?? :thinking:
Cyberella, just know that by the time you are finished dieting, your body should be in nice proportion... This means smaller everything: bust, waist, hips, legs, the works...
Mrs Peel, we'll have to wait and see what happens...
For both of you: I once heard a cute joke: The person said that God is really fare - the girls who get nice small bottoms and legs don't get much in the bust area, whereas the girls who have too much in the bottoms and legs have bigger busts to compensate and take the focus of the bigger bottom's...
Sigh! I'm not suggesting anything, but thinking that without surgery you probably won't get EVERYTHING!!!
Best case scenario: LEARN TO LOVE YOU!! You are unique and special with or without the bigger or smaller bust... besides, I'm 100% convinced those photo's in the magazines have all undergone a serious paint job / digital improvement!

oh,mrs.peel....:comfort:
if i only could!!
all i want is 4 "them" 2 stay about in place, but having breast-fed 4 so very long and having started the diet right after ablactation, i can only wonder :thinking:
shasha, pls.tell me:
when one faces hunger once in a while it means that the hormone system is not quite where it should b in terms of insulin and hgh...
does that also mean, that there's no benefit of the balance: no skin "left over", (but quite firm as my neighbour told me) after the diet??! :praying:

{hi} there Cyberella
''when one faces hunger once in a while it means that the hormone system is not quite where it should b in terms of insulin and hgh...'' Not necessarily!!
Some people choose yogurt for breakfast because it tastes so nice. Yogurt is the least filling meal and so does not last as long as an egg and veggies would. If you then become hungry at say 10:00, this means that for your body the yogurt was not the right option. Rather have egg and veggies. Yogurt is perfect for people who do not normally eat breakfast.
Same with lunchtime... some people choose cheese, but on a cold day meat, chicken and fish are more filling - I know you are vegetarian... I am just saying this so you see the picture as a whole.
Being a bit hungry can also mean that you have been physically more busy. Or that the weather is colder. Or that you are about to get your monthly periods.
I find that having the fruit snack between meals keeps the hunger away. But, mostly only 1/2 a fruit is fine - this raises the blood sugar and takes care of the hungry feeling... In my mind, half a fruit more often times in a day is better than a whole fruit less often.
If however you feel very hungry all the time, chances are that you have made or are making mistakes that are triggering hunger. Unless of course you have reached your ideal goal weight and you no longer have excess fat saved up in your grocery cupboards... {cheerleader}
About skin... Human Growth Hormone increases skin elasticity and so many people end up looking a lot younger once they have done the diet.
Some people may find that their skin feels a bit looser. It does take a bit of time for skin to shrink down to the NEW YOU, but as everyone is different, we cannot say what will happen in your personal body. How much your skin will shrink will depend on a few things: how much weight you lost, how old you are and also how flexible your particular skin is, how dry the climate may be does also have an effect on skin texture as well as how well you take care of your skin etc...

hi, dearest shasha!
well, i do take the most filling meals:
egg and veggie 4 breakfast, even 4ce myself 2 eat 115g of fish and less veggies (as i also have the option 105 fish and 120 veggis- i guess thaz a substitute 4 the chicken option) 2 feel more full at lunch.
4 the evening i leave the smallest meal as dinner should b less food anyway and if i get hungry i drink tea or go 2 bed earlier.
i dont know where my mistake is or what causes the hunger..
iz cold though and i keep carrying a boybee around a lot.
exercise i dont do as i dont want 2 b more hungry.-
i think my stomach is f****, as i just had a tuna-salad (no time 2 cook) and feel hungry right after (it takx more than the usual while till my tummy registers the food and gez going (stupid!)
but, guess what: i asked the consuls if i could have smaller fruit portions more often and they said, rather only have fruiz 3 times a day :aint:!!!!!! i'd b more content if i had 6 times half a fruit!!
(same applies as 4 my stomach..hehe) :monkey:

{hi} there Cyberella
Your fish does not substitute your chicken portion. If you do eat chicken or if you are willing to try, please ask your consultant to write to Dr Cohen and ask him to give you a chicken option. The grams for chicken and the veggies that go with this will not be the same and you can ask for a chicken portion for Meal 2 and Meal 3 so that you can have more variety and choice.
I cannot see which options Dr Cohen has given you, but remember you are choosing 1 line per meal... generally Meal 1 is the least filling and Meal 3 is the most filling either :crying:
Having vegetarian choices such as yogurt and cheese and tofu, egg and fish means that 3 of your meal options are not that filling. Egg and fish are good. I'm just scared that the reason you are hungry is because let's say you are eating yogurt, it may fill you for a little while, but then by 10 am you are starving... that carries on until lunchtime and now you have cheese - also not very filling... how terrible it must be in the evening and then to have tofu is not going to be that filling either.
Try to have more fish and egg, although egg is only allowed once a day. If there is a way you will consider eating chicken - perhaps in soup? Maybe for the sake of teaching your little one healthy eating habits? Then I do believe that chicken will help you with the hunger and I recommend that you ask your consultant to write to Dr Cohen regarding chicken right away.
I think you can have 1/2 size portions of fruit more often and that this will not slow down your weight loss - because you are still only having 3 fruit per day... Sometimes having 1/2 an apple just takes away your hunger and you can save the rest till later.

hi, my dear diet-fairy! :love7:
thank u so much 4 your constant effort and support!!
i also think that my hunger has 2 do with my food, as vegetarian meals r kind of "light" -
i dont know about the chicken- i dont think i can really handle eating one- {tweety}
but, at least i'll think about it..
--whether i like hunger better or :chicken:... gulp!... chicken!!
until i'm decided what 2 do, the diet could b over.. {rofl}

{hi} there Cyberella
I know it is a very difficult choice for you to make... to chicken or not to chicken...
As considerations in the back of your mind I want to suggest the following... try to think long term progress because like you said: veggie meals are light... and not so filling... which means you want to eat more and more because the food does not last as long... and then you could get tempted to snack on other foods in between... I am talking about after the diet, remember you will be on diet for a limited time only.
It is very unlikely that you will gain weight from lean proteins and veggies... these will keep you feeling fuller longer while giving your body the food it needs. Someone is more likely to gain weight from too much starch and sugars... the problem with lots of your vegetable proteins such as beans and nuts are that they are also high in starch...
As you have ''obesity syndrome", your body reacts badly to starch in that it makes you gain weight quickly...
:noway: do we want that to happen!
If you do decide to eat chicken, I recommend that you ask your consultant for a chicken portion from Dr Cohen FIRST. Then that you make the chicken breast INTO FOOD... so that you can get use to the taste. If you were to make a stir-fry of say: onion, cabbage, mushroom and green pepper and then add a wedge or two from your orange to this, you could cut the chicken into little pieces and they ''hide'' quiet well into the stir-fry.
:thinking: I know it is a very difficult decision to make... I just wanted to share the above idea with you for if you do decide to eat chicken because if you have not been eating chicken for a while, apart from getting use to the idea of eating it, you will also need to get use to the new taste...
Same goes for everyone else reading this: if you have not been eating chicken or fish or meat... I recommend ''hiding'' it into other foods ie: tuna into a salad... not just eat tuna fish on it's own etc.
Okay folks, that's all for now :flirt:
