{hi} there Everyone

A BRAND NEW YEAR – what better time than NOW to make a fresh start and a new beginning… ???

Perhaps before some of our Diet Buddies can make a successful NEW START, they may have to let go of the past… do a sort of “forgetting what lies behind” thing in order to successfully push forward towards a goal that lies ahead. Remember that no runner ever looks back – if he does, he could very well hinder his own progress, either by running into something or by having a fall…

NOW is the time to forget the past, whether that be past hurts, lost opportunities, regrets of eating on Christmas day, or any other 'failures' – these all need to be put behind us if we are to focus on the here and the now and future goals. So I would like to encourage you to determine to put the past in the past and push on to the future.

NOW is the time to look forward, we have the whole of 2009 standing wide open before us… Why not set NEW FRESH GOALS and work our very best toward reaching them?

Sometimes there may also some ‘good things’ that we need to put behind us… someone once said that time is like dipping your hand into a river – you will never feel the same water twice. Life is filled with change and new experiences. Sometimes however, we liked something so much, that we hold on way too long… in fact, some people can hold onto the past “good old days” so tight, that it prevents them from living in the present. Doing so, robs us from the very JOY of living in the NOW MOMENT.

Yes, it is indeed, it is nice to look back at past victories – and it is nice to say: I have achieved this or that… but, if you have no where you are currently heading, that’s not good.

Why not use past achievements to be your spring board, launching you off to achieve future goals and future victories. Say to yourself, if I could do this, I can surely do that… and then work at your new goal.

Someone once said that the worst enemy of “BEST” is “GOOD” because if you are satisfied with what is “GOOD” you will not be motivated to push on to reach what is “BEST”.

My hope for each and every one of you is that you will move into “BEST” – not just in terms of your weight loss, but in every area of your life.

I had origionally written this for a different thread, but was thinking that it would be nice for our DIET BUDDIES to share some of their NEW FRESH GOALS and so I have copied this into a new thread where you can share some of your goals for 2009 with your fellow diet buddies… I for one look forward to seeing what your goals are!!

My goals for this year are to move more:
Do a couple of yoga classes a week, arm willing (tendonitus)
Start training for 2010 LA Marathon in the fall
Take a photography class
Take a cooking class-probably knife skills, etc.
Get outside more which should be easy once we have a house we'll get a dog and it will need walks.

{hi} there ValGal

Nice goals, about the exercises, I'd recommend that you start of slowly - allow your body time to strengthen and grow into it...

Photography class sounds so nice! I love photo’s – especially nature ones! Some of them can be pretty impressive... I’m reminded of the little girl was standing outside in a thundershower looking at the sky smiling – her Mom told her to come in from out there and asked her why she was standing out in the rain smiling at the lightening flashes, her reply: God’s taking pictures of me :flirt:

I’m sure you will enjoy the photography classes! One thing for sure, we'll get to see fabulous AFTER photo's from a pro!

Getting a dog is bound to mean more exercises – especially if you get one of the bigger breads, the kind that takes YOU FOR A WALK…

I want to have a "Gail's story". Strike that, I WILL have a "Gail's story"! That sooooooo makes my week. I read it every Sunday.

I will pass class and become a registered nurse this year.

I will visit my parents more often every month.

I will lavish my wife with more praise every day.

I will encourage my children every day.

I will remember to love myself every day.

I will have more 'me' time more often to unwind.

And at the end of the 1PD road, I will Thank you all.

{hi} there BigPun

OOOh, I’d almost forgotten this post and then was very happy to see it again…

I’m so glad it touched you :bighug:

I love your goals, especially GOAL 1 – that’s right up my alley!!

And, while you’re doing GOAL 1, are you still remembering to do GOAL 2???
Terrible how quickly we get all rushed up again!! I have a very similar goal, namely to stop and smell the flowers! – it means basically the same, but, when I look again, I’m pushing to get through the TO DO LIST…

Maybe I must type this goal out and stick it on the wall above my desk or somewhere?! – sounds crazy hey, but I’m the kind of person who constantly reminds myself with little TO DO LISTS… so, why not make a DAILY TO DO LIST – so I can check up on myself and see if I did indeed stop to enjoy the wonders around me?

And YES, being positive and becoming more positive is something we will all benefit from!!

I really wish you SUCCESS in reaching each of these goals and THANK YOU! I almost forgot about my goals again!! :flirt:

YOUR goals really touched my :love4:!

What a loving and kind, considerate and beautiful person you must be {bighug}

I just know that YOU WILL have a GREAT SUCCESS STORY to share with others!!!

Indeed, you are writing this story day by day :reading: and you already know the end from the beginning and that is so exciting!!! It’s just a matter of time!!!
