So, it's our first 1PD Knit-along, and I thought a scarf would be most appropriate as they're usually very simple and anyone at any level can knit it.
For a comprehensive list of scarf patterns, go to knitting pattern central dot com and click the Scarves link in their pattern directory.
For this knit-along, I think any scarf pattern will do. Just be sure to let us know the name of the pattern so we can access it online, and show off the yarn that you've picked. Then just come back here from time to time to update us on your progress, and show off your completed scarf!
Let's officially start knitting on Monday, October 13th!

I've knitted lots of scarves but right now (actually starting tomorrow on our trip to TX) I'll be working on a hooded baby sweater. I try to knit either a sweater and booties or blanket, hat, and booties for new babies of teachers in my school. We have a very young staff (or else I'm old!!) who have had lots of babies in the past few years. They keep me busy knitting. When I'm not knitting for new babies of teachers, I knit for babies born at one of our area hospitals. Knitting is very relaxing AND keeps one's hands busy so they can't be stuffing food into their face!! :munchies:

I have never knitted... but maybe I can learn? I'll need a scarf when I am in New York for New Years :) and then I can keep it forever as a part of this journey!
Hmm... do I just go to Michaels and they have guides?

there are a lot of good online videos to learn to knit....go to Google and type in learn to knit....I'm sure you'll find something...
I have a cool pattern that uses HUGE needles...it's fun. When I get a chance to catch my breath I'll try to remember to post those directions...after I find them first, of course!!

Yaay Phyllis and CohenInAz!
Phyllis - I'm actually just starting two sets of baby "Converse" booties for two friends that are due in November. I sure do love to knit!
CohenInAz - You can also go to lion brand dot com - it's the website for Lion brand yarn. They have a great stitch dictionary. You could start off by picking a stitch you like, then just cast on for 24, then repeat the stitch back and forth. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

{hi} there Joy

Phyllis you are so right!!! Keeping your hands busy is a great key to success for many Diet Buddies!! So why not have a knit along??
As you lose fat, you will feel cold sooner, especially in winter, so anything warm is a great idea!
Of course I want to see some pictures of those finished products and the smaller models wearing them!! {wave}
