Or 72 to be more exact...
Ok so... here are my pictures. I will keep the, going by a week to week compairson in my blog.. and will do some updates here.
To explain the outfit it is a tank tank top and shorts I wore when I was about 150 and fit snug to a little loose at that weight but was, good gym wear... so it obviously doesn't fit anymore, but should be something I can wear the entire Cohen Journey for a really good before and after. As it will be the same location and sam clothes.
Normally, I'd "high waist" the pants to help get rid of the rolls, but why hide what shoudn't be there?
I took these on Monday at 202lbs. There is also a picture of me from August 25 2008 and I think I am around 207 to 210 in this picture.

Here is week two pictures... Once again these pcitures start the morning I started eating the Cohen Foods and started following the diet. I'll post pictures every Monday morning to see if there is a change. I doubt to see much at first, but I'll do a week 1 to 4 comparions and so on. I've lost about 5 lbs, I only know as I had to weigh in at work.
Hmmm...after uploading I see this weeks pictures are not quite the same as last weeks, as in these are more zoomed in. I will fix that for next week. Not a big difference, but it does look like my muffin top isn't as big!
Ha...

I too took a few photos like this, but don't plan on sharing them until I reach my goal - I need to be able to post them next to my after photos so they're easier to bear lol

10-06-2008, 02:38 PM
Thanks Joy!
I was thinking about waiting, but, I think its really easy to forget what we look like, and I don't like the way I look, I look in the mirror and while I obviously don't see a skinny person, I most definitely do not see a person who is the size that I am. That's why I think the pictures are such a great thing, it stops you from lying to yourself.
I need that reality check and looking at the pictures gives it to me. Sure is it a bit embarrassing... yeah... but its easy access to a swift kick in the butt whenever I need it!
Plus once I can see a real big difference I think it will be an even better motivator!

Ok so this is a week 1 to week 3 comparison... Week 1 is 4 days before my official start date (I'm on Day 11, W.2, D.4), but I started eating the proper foods a few days early.
I tired to get the pictures closer in size this week, so you can see a difference. My belly looks a little smaller and my bust seems a little smaller too. So that is that.
More pictures next week!

Thanks guys. The pictures serve as my "reality check". I never think I am this heavy when I look in the mirror and it just is a wake up call. Its also good for those, days when I am frustrated and I can pull up this thread and see that progress is being made.
Thanks for saying you see a difference... It's very encouraging.
I did get my first "Have you lost weight?" From a co-worker yesterday... and its been 26 lbs (16 pre cohen and 10 cohen)... so I let her know. She said she could really see it in my face.
The one thing I notice that is really different, is normally when I have dieted, I lose it in my face, but in a way, where I have a weird, line or speperation on the sides... and its not there this time... which makes me happy! Its more uniform.

It's Monday and that means Picture Day!
For those new to the thread, I take pictures, every Monday, which is my unofficial start date. I will be in the same outfit the entire way, so it will be a direct compairson from when I hit goal to when I started.
So from the first picture in the Tee and shorts, I am down 12 lbs and from the "out with Friends picture' in late August, I am down almost 20.
I still don't have the pictures taken from the same distance, but you get the idea, the new ones are a tad closer.
I will do measurements on Friday, on my "Offical 4 weeks". I know I haven't lost a lot of weight, but I think the inches will be surprising... hopefully...
you look fantastic! i was thinking to do the same idea that you are doing with the same outfit and now i see that it's really worth it! you can see differences everywhere so even if the scale doesn't reflect...it's happening in your clothes and shape - good on you!!!!{boing}

Wow! I just found this thread! This is FANTASTIC! What a great idea and congratulations! You sure can see the difference! I have one question--what are you going to do when those shorts won't stay up for the picture? The pose with your hands on your hips will work--you can hold them up. But the other one--watch out! :) Maybe you can hold out the waistband for all to see where you used to be. :) This is going to be so fun to keep up with! Thanks for sharing! You look great!

So from the first picture in the Tee and shorts, I am down 18 lbs and from the "out with Friends picture' in late August, I am down 26lbs.
I even added coat pictures for Mandy!
One is a CUTE teal coat, that fits right now, and is a Large from Old Navy. I think it will be impossible to fit into the M, as my shoulders are too broad. Even being skinny, will not change that. I did by a M, so... it might happen, but doubt it They too have a 90 return policy so anything is possible!
The other is the Kenneth Cole 14.... as you can see it doesn't button.. yet... I will only update these once a month.
holy crap! i love seeing the difference - you are doing so great m'lady! keep it up! love the coats too and it's only a matter of (short!) time until that coat will be all buttoned up!

Aw. Thanks Carbon and everyone else!
Mandy glad you like them both! I LOVE the teal one.. but the black one is so classy... Ha.. and WARM... I about died when I wore it for the few moments to take the picture.. very warm for AZ. I like the length difference between the two as well.
Jenn get your pictures up!!!! You were going to the same thing! I wanna see your transformation!
i know!!! i'll get paul to take some photos of me tonight when he gets home - lame to say but i have no idear how to do the timer thing to do it myself ;) doh. i love seeing your transformation! great motivator!
after my great loss in the first week i've stayed the same weight this week - not a budge since thurs...but, even if there's not a change this friday i try to remain positive that at least 7lbs in 2 weeks is still fantastic. plus, clothes are feeling much better too so it's only a matter of time!
CohenInAz
11-11-2008, 06:06 PM
It is fantastic, 7lbs is 7lbs... I only lost 10 my first month... but lost a TON of inches... It looks like a lost a lot more than I did!
I mean they don't want us weighing so we don't get caught up in the scale moving, but I think its cool to watch the plateu patern and see how it looks week to week!
I can't wait to see the pictures! YAY!!
tis true! i'm trying to pick a goal outfit right now for the pics :D won't be pretty in the early stages but it'll be great at the end! or, 1/2 way point....then i'll need a new goal outfit :)
rats, no photos tonight after all as my camera man is unavailable. soon!

I like you idea of a goal outfit! I'm going to go shopping this weekend to spen d my birthday money! I put on a pair of dress slacks last Sunday for church and they were bagging off when only a few weeks ago they were snug. It wild how your body continues to change and rearrange even after you are done with the diet. so you have that to look forward to!

Yay Phyllis! I'm so glad to hear that!
CoheninAZ--you're looking fantastic! I love the cute coats! You'll be so surprised when you're done at what size you'll be. I'm sure you're not so broad-shouldered that you have to wear a LARGE for the rest of your skinny life! I can't wait to see this through to the end with you. You're in for a SURPRISE! :)
Jenn--I wouldn't weigh myself if I were you! That's all I'll say. :) But yes, 7lbs is GREAT!!!
My husband & I ALMOST talked each other into cheating last night, but we ended up talking each other out of it and we're so glad we did! I lost another 3lbs over night, and he lost another 1.5lbs. Yay! I'm almost halfway to my goal after just two days! :)

Grats to you Lauren!
wow lauren! i'm impressed not only with your restraint but also that you lost more than your hubs! yay! men lose so much faster normally - no fair! congrats to you both on your loss - that was a great reward for not indulging!
as for the weighing, it's not that discouraging for me to not see a loss. i agree with what stephanie mentioned and it's just interesting to see patterns. to be honest, i try to remind myself not to put too much stock in the scale but instead focus on how i feel in my clothes. i already feel better and notice that i don't have nearly the noticeable muffin top that i did when i began so that's a yay!
you'll be at goal in no time lauren!

Lauren -
I actually have a box or old high school stuff, and everything was L in jackets.. I mean it was a 'Junior' so maybe that will make the difference, but even when I was super skinny, I've had broad shoulders, skinny yet broad... I sort of have the same shoulders and hips... well when I am skinny
So I will be curious to see what happens. Even my Letter sweater is a L and I was a 115/120lbs senior!
Well that is still a far way off!
I've gone to 2 Old Navys and they don't have it in a M, so I think I till just go with the L. I will check one more store today after work. I will have to layer anyways!

I DO have A LOT more hair!
Well... not actually more... but my hair came to LIFE with this diet.
I keep meaning to ask if anyone else has had this happen. I mean... My hair NEVER held a curl EVER and was flat flat flat. I mean even with like the "volumizing shampoo" I mean I still use that type, but my hair can hold a curl without hair spray, root lifter, gel or mouse for 2 days without getting yucky!
Plus it is growing like a WEED! I mean my hair has ALWAYS grown fast, but now its like crazy fast. I'm going to get it cut before I leave for New York... but yeah... thanks for making me realize I'm not crazy!
Has anyone else had this happen? My nails also are growing so fast I have to cut them at least once a week (I like short nails).
Hey there,
I have noticed that my hair doesn't seem to get greasy like it used too. I would have to wash my hair everyday and now I only have to wash it every other day. My hair is very straight anyway but it does seem to have alot more bounce.
But on a slightly different note, I have noticed that my mood has stayed 'happy' I used to get mood swings and get irritable very easily and this appears to have stopped all together Yay!
I can really see your wonderful cheekbones in your pics now - you are going to be smokin!
Zee

11-18-2008, 12:39 PM
Ahh thanks Zee!
I've always stuck to the 2 day rule with my hiar, otherwise it just broke apart and got dried out...
Yeah the bounce thing is so FUNNY... I've been curling it more because I am so facinated with how it stays, but I'm going to give my heair a break and go back to straight for a while.
I just can't wait until I can get a new cut that will accent my new face shape!

WOW Arizona! You are looking SO GOOD!!! Isn't it amazing??? I remember seeing some posts a while back about people not really noticing your weight loss even though it had been pretty significant. I have to say that the smaller you become, the more obvious it is when you lose weight. 5 pounds on me now that I'm done (either way, up or down) is noticeable whereas pre-Cohen at 167 pounds I could lose 10 pounds and nobody would really notice. You are doing such a great job and I'm sorry I'm not on the boards as much as I was on the diet, but I've really been wanting to tell you that I'm very, very impressed with your Cohen journey. I am not sure I will because the 12 is SUPER tight and even with the 14 its really snug with sweaters and things under it right now.
I am sure that the 12 will be the same way in a few weeks before that will just make it ok to wear stuff under it. Although it would be super cool to say I can fit into a designer 10!

I missed 12.29 pictures because I was in NYC!
I got back late last night.
Now... I did go off plan while in NYC. I was down to 168.5 and I am now at 171.0. Not too bad for over 10 days off plan. I did try to at least have yogurt every morning...
I also lost 5 inches while in NYC even with the weight gain... so even though I am only 1 lbs lighter in the pictures, I am smaller.
For those new to the thread, I do pictures every Monday. I will be in the same outfit the entire time.
Hey AZ,
Lookin good, you can really see a huge difference now. Well done on only gaining 2.5lbs that is really WELL DONE!
I was not so lucky over xmas, gained 4.4 lbs, lost 4.4, gained another 4.4 lost 4.4 and now I seem to be stuck on a plateau for the last week. Just when I don't need this as I only have 3 & a half weeks to go and really need to loose enough to be able to order re-feed grrrr.....
Anyway, back to you, sounds like you had a great vacation and you still managed to lose inches....
you go girl :clapping3: won't be long now!

{hi} there ZEE
:comfort: sorry to hear about the sea-saw that you were on.
Hang in there, your body is probably a bit confused from all the up & down, but, once it sees that you are steadfast in your quest, those pounds are bound to start dropping again!
Maybe have a bit of extra water and avoid excess salt and the cheese options cos these can both lead to water retention and slower weight loss. (So can too much caffeine.)
If you are not hungry, you can cut back on your fruit and crackers for a few days - that's bound to shock something somewhere! {pan}
Can’t wait to see you reach your goal: GO FOR IT!! :flying: I KNOW THAT YOU CAN DO IT!!

It's Monday and that means Picture Day! I forgot to load these yesterday.
For those new to the thread, I take pictures, every Monday, which is my unofficial start date. I will be in the same outfit the entire way, so it will be a direct compairson from when I hit goal to when I started.

Thanks I am feeling good... and people are noticing...
At work this lady said it seemed like overnight a few weeks ago I just looked so skinny.... I guess they'd been talking about it but this week, I wore my small jeans a small top and she was like.. OH MY GOD I HATE YOU!!! I let her know what I was doing and they said they'd been talking about it for a while deciding if I was on a diet or sick.
But like SexyMama said.. I am keeping it in check.
I've been at this weight before was upset and knew I had to lose weight. I feel great right now, but I am still not healthy.
I know I am still overweight... I feel amazing, wearing 12s and Medium/Large tops. I feel skinny, but I am still overweight.... its a dangerous place to be... and I just think, gosh, just imagine what I will look like in another 25-30lbs!
Thanks for being supportive guys... posting these makes me have a reality check.

You are looking HOT!!!! I haven't checked in in a bit but wow, you are transforming before our eyes! It is amazing how sometimes it seems like you are just staying the same and then BAM all the sudden it's like you just dropped a ton of sizes over night.
I totally understand about the feeling pretty darn skinny even though you're not done. I started at over 250 so when I hit under 200 I thought, ya! And then I thought I'll be pretty darn close to done at 175 (that's the smallest I had ever been as an adult). And at 175 I was so much more comfortable and I felt skinny compared to the 250 I was hot. But I just kept going (largely because I was used to it and also because I wasn't at my goal yet).
Then as the pounds came off, I looked at my pictures from 175 and yes I looked much much better but I didn't look done, that's for sure. And my new pictures were looking better and better. So just stick with it and a new you will emerge in those pictures and you will be stunned by how different you look. I can't wait to see. You are almost there and this is where it gets really fun, where you get smaller than you've ever been and much healthier too. Just keep going and going, like our little energizer bunny!

Thanks SurferGirl... yeah its funny what becomes acceptable to us..
I have 115 on my drivers licesnse because at 18, when I was 125 I thought I was too heavy. Now looking back at those pictures I can see I AM WAY to skinny.... and don't now how I ever though being that weight was ok for my body..
Now... I can look back and wonder how I ever let myself get to where I did. It's all relative. I don't want to be the skinniest I've ever been in my adult life, but I do want to be at the healthiest weight for myself and I know I'll get there!
You guys are great!
WOW AZ, you are looking great! I love monday's (or tuesdays in my case - time difference and all) when I get to see your updated pics.
I think you will be amazed at how your shape changes as you get closer to your goal.
You are doing great - not long now....!

I am so glad you are finding a balance and figuring out the healthiest place for your body to be. It is not easy sometimes with media pressure to be supermodel skinny and the majority telling you that being overweight is normal. In the past week I had someone tell me they were "worried about me getting so skinny" and someone ask me if I still had 50 (that's right 50!!) lbs to lose. Talk about conflicting messages. Cohen in Az you are rocking this diet and looking so good. Your attitude is so upbeat and positive and I just can't wait to see you reach your goal.

You are all the best. I am glad this thread helps others as much as it helps me!!
Surfergal - thanks so much for the comments... you served as a great example for me and I can't wait to get to where I will be. I've NEVER been at 21% BF. Even at 115lbs at 21 (Mono was a great diet I thought)... I was 28% Body Fat. Plus I had been playing college tennis right before I got sick.
I am so glad you guys have been on this journey with me... I still have a way to go... I hope to be done in the next 10 weeks... but if it takes longer oh well. My reaching goal is the most important thing!

So... what has changed?
A new bra :) and the same shirt and pants, but with the draw string in use on the pants. They are also more over the hips now, to emphasize the fat that still remains.
I needed a new outlook... a new start so I changed the positions of clothes a bit to be an even true'er' picture.
At the end I will post the entire journey (the starting pictures)... but for right now. I need to look at this as a "fresh start"
So I am treating this as Day 1. I have 20 lbs to lose.
I will compare next weeks picture to these.
great to see you again! a new perspective totally helps the head space - awesome az!

Recap for those new to the thread: I took down all the original pictures and restarted last week as I needed a change and out look.
So what has changed from the original set of pictures? A new bra and the same shirt and pants, but with the draw string in use on the pants. They are also more over the hips bones now, to emphasize the fat that still remains.
These pictures start from when I have 20 left to lose. I lost 7.5lbs this week, after being off plan for about 3-4 weeks, so I think my body views this as a "restart".

This is AMAZING - especially to someone just starting out. I LOVE the idea of your photo blog and tracking your progress. That is SOOOOO COOOOOL!!!

Pinked -
Just pick an outfit that hits WAY too tight.
Like maybe you have a pair of jeans that doesn't button or you have HORRIBLE muffin top with.
If not.. pick an outfit that fits now, but will be HUGE on you when you're done!
I actually have never posted the "outfit" picture... its something I thought I looked GREAT in heavy but I knew it might be a little too tight.... I can't wait to have it on when I reach goal. It will be fun!
Thanks too.. it has been a fun journey. When I am done I will get the original tank and short pictures up... I just needed to "reset" my head until I reach re-feed.

I've been bad.. well I took pitures and I couldn't tell a difference... actually thought I looked bigger! Very very bad... (Oh I did post those.. ha 02/07) then the next week I was heavier 02.14.. and well not about to post that... (cheat with 5lbs gain oh joy!) and then I was basically same weight as 02.07 and no weighing in 02.28....
That is my excuse and sticking to it!
There WILL be photos this Saturday though because I can weight in! I will be 2 days into TOM so I might still be a little 'bloated' but I am also going back to comparing to the old photos so you will still see a big difference :)

There are the HOT pics I was looking for! You look AWESOME! I am so proud of you AZ! Your journey is really inspiring to me. Sometimes I was feeling like it was all or nothing, if I fell off the horse I would never get back on. I was terrified of that. But that's just not realistic. We will all have our ups and downs and we can't stay away from every temptation forever. You have really shown me how to pull it together and keep on going. You are there, reaching your goal, and I think you are AMAZING!

Hahahaha.... yeah I am getting there.... just about 6-8 weeks late :) But if you take a total of 43 deviations days (yes I write DEVIATION above everyday I deviate in my little food journal. Not enough water, no vitamins, extra crackers all counted, besides the *cough* week of NYC food)
You are right though... the diet is so black and white.. and NEEDS to be, but if you fall down, just GET UP... BACK ON... and DO IT!!!
I know the you know better than anyone that we can get back down after going up after having a little bit too much.
