Hi fellow awesome forumers!
I am curious as to whether the first month is the month where most of the weight loss will come from? Is it like the first two weeks...first month (and is that just water?)? Or is it pretty consistent? I'm so new to this, I just wanted to know what to expect? Any ideas?

Hi Mia
I think you do lose a lot in the first month. I have about double the weight to lose as you and my first month goal was 20 lbs. We will see friday if I make it. I think a realistic goal for you wil be 12 lbs. Then anything over that will be cake ( no pun intended LOL) Aim low and be blown away when you lose more.
I would like to go for another 20 lbs in my next 4 wks only because I was making so many mistakes imagine if I followed the diet 100%.
Good luck to you and don't stress it. I think we all come in with high anticipation and then are disapointed by the number but stop and think. When was the last time I came close to losing 20lbs in a month? The only time I can think of is when I gave birth to 7 lbs baby and all the baby goo that came with him.
Don't worry this will work for you..

Hahahahahaha! *rolling on the floor while laughing*
Well I've got some great examples to follow like you and Shawn, not to mention a ton others. I just have to keep myself busy (which with two little ones is not so hard to accomplish).
How was everyones night last night?
TEAM SKINNY! Can I get a heck yeah?!

LOL- Suck it up Shawn! At least you don't have to go through the nasty painful process of labor!!! But actually that was pretty disgusting. He he he!
MIA- I lost 22 my first month, and about 12lbs per month each month after. As that's 3 lbs a week I'm pretty happy. Also the time starts to go by faster as you get accostomed to the diet.

Hahaha! That was funny! Poor Shawn! ;P
Surfer, Wow...you are amazing! Okay..so for you you did lose the most in the first month, so I should expect it to slow down after week 4. Well...I sure hope it gets easier and goes by faster because today has been hel$. I need to divert my energy elsewhere. AT least while my hands are on the keyboard they aren't on food!

And to think ... I'm an EMT too. I hate blood -- especially my own! :-)
If you stay on plan, the weight loss does slow down a bit but it's still amazing. I think the first month is a lot of water loss and then subsequent months are more fat. I think my average over the weeks prior to starting refeed was 5 lbs a week. The key is sticking to the program with no deviations to maximize the weight loss. Even though the first month is so shocking, the rest are really nice as well.
Shawn, so did you loose all your weight in 12 weeks? I don't think i will, i onlly have one more day and i weigh. I think i'll have to pay for another 12 weeks. :(:( MIMI

MiMi,
Have you not weighed for a month? Wow, now that's will power!
So what you guys are saying is that the water goes first then the fat? Will I lose my baby tummy next month? (It is a bit embarassing as my 'baby' will turn 4 on Monday.)
And you know what is a bit pitiful? I'm looking forward to my wieght loss for the month as much as my darling son's b-day.
Mia, Yes, type when you are hungry, or read the posts. I can't stay away; it is so helpful, fun, and theraputic! I usually drink water while I read and type. I've always drank a ton of H20. Now I'm going to the bathroom all night long, losing sleep because it wakes me up at night! Worse than being preggie! Oh well. Soon this will be over too!
Best,
Mary
Mie Mie, NO i have not weighed in a month. I will weigh tomorrow. I won't be at my goal, so i guess i'll have to sign up again :( I was hoping to be on the refeed but i guess i'll have to wait a little while longer. I have not deviated at all this month, i just think the weight is coming off slower now, since i don't have as much to lose. I'll be alright, i'll let you know tomorrow how much i have lost this month. LOL :innocent3: MIMI

Mary,
Yes...I am so thankful for this group! Helps me when I'm hungry! Plus I get so many wondeful ideas. I can't wait till this is over....I guess if I can be pregnant twice and withstand the whole 9 month incubation thing then I can handle this too right?

I really think like this. This will be exactly like being pregnant. The first months will fly by but the last few weeks will feel like years lol.

{hi} there Everyone
From what I’ve seen everyone’s journey is different because each of you is unique and your return to being healthy and well again is also going to be a very unique journey… {motorcycle}
How much someone is going to lose or how long it is going to take them to lose it is simply impossible to say – it all depends on male or female / personal metabolism / age / genes / how much weight you have to lose in the first place / medical problems etc.
Most Diet Buddies do find that in their first month they have the fastest progress. Following this, as you continue to follow your eating plan 100% you should still continue to see steady progress.
Where your body shrinks first and fastest will also depend on certain characteristics like genetics’ etc.
MeiMei: try to drink a bit more of your water in the morning, then you can have a bit less in the afternoon so that you can try sleeping through instead of rushing to the loo :flirt:

Hi DIET BUDDIES and YES MeiMei I agree with Shasha about the water I use to go to the TOILET a lot at NIGHT and to prevent this I drink a litre of water at BREAKFAST and a LITRE at Lunch then I slow down the rest of the night and I find that I don't go to the TOILET so often anymore!!!Ha Ha!!!:innocent4:I was PERMANENTLY pregnant with my BIG stomach and the big difference is that YOU ladies can drop the BABY with GOO and ALL and LOSE some off YOUR stomach mine has been like that for 20 YEARS and there was no way to get rid of it other than with the DR COHEN diet what a RELIEF!!!Have a GOO FILLED DAY!!!:innocent3:
