PUMBZA THE BEAN STALK
Hey, I really admire your determination to stick with the plan, especially the taking your medicine at the prescribed times (on the road, in the parking lot, whereever). YOU ROCK MISTER!
All your on the road eating gave me an idea. Maybe you could start the very first 1PD FAST FOOD CHAIN, You know "Id like to order the 3 ounces of Tuna fish with 1/2 a tomato and celery (punch in the approved amount for the cashier) on 2 crackers." "Anything for dessert sir?" "Yes Id like an Apple (NOT PIE you guys) baked for dessert and a large glass of mineral water to go." Hee Hee. I bet you could give MR MAC D a run for his money! Have a safe trip.

I love that one rbride05 the only problem is the food is to little so u won't make to much money on 1PD DIET BUDDIES!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:But I love the idea imagine walking in and getting ur 1PD food over the counter that would really ROCK!!!AAhh u thought I was gone well I missed you all and I found the joyies of wireless at the hotel so u can't get rid of me sooooo Quickly and I do MISS ALL YOU DIET BUDDIES to badly!Hope I will avoid the carpark to morrow and I will try and eat in the food court with my family all my food is prepared and ready I just hve to cut the tomatoes and I am ready!I was thinking I should make some meatballs and this would include the meat and vegatbles and it would be easy to handle and store and easy to eat!!!How about a eating establishment called MR MEATBALL!!Ha Ha!I know its a bit weak not as goood as rbride05!!Ha Ha!Thanks Hugentobler she is getting some radiation for thyroid instead of a operation and she must stay away from her kids for a week and she must stay with someone who is not planning to have kids (Thats Me and my MOM!) Ha Ha and she must eat with her own utensils etc it is a bit weird but must be done! Its nice having my sister staying with us and she is having a break from the kids the first time in a long while and tomorrow she will take the radiation pill and she might be nauseous for a hour or two!She may become a useful MICRO wave Ha Ha!!But thanks for ur positive thoughts much appreciated!!!:innocent3:

Yay Pumbza found the wireless connection!! Good to hear from you. You must continue to share all of your techniques for sticking to this plan while being on the road. There are so many 1PD'ers out there who need help with this and you are the KING of sticking to the plan under hard conditions (i.e. travelling)!!! That is so nice you are there for your sister. We will keep her in our thoughts and prayers that this procedure will be successful and will not make her feel too lousy.

Hi BITTEN & BRONWYN I am pretty happy to keep in contact with you all and I really hope that I can help the NEWBIES so bear with my ramblings I am trying to help!!Ha Ha!!:innocent4:Another day has gone and I have found two problems I have incurred and they are as follows:-
I am allowed 135gms and 125gms of fish for meals 2 and 3 the only problem is that a can of TUNA weighs exactly 125g when the water is taken out and the meat is weighed so just eating TUNA is not exactly taking your medicine because every day I am short 10gms which is not GOOOD at ALL so I will have to try and sort this out on the next trip!!!!I think one way to do this is to make meat balls to cover the TUNA fish of 135gm's and then I will not "cheat" on my medicine!!!Ha Ha!!!I also find that it was difficult to plan the start and end of meals because one does not know how the DAY will go but that just needs some planning!!Anyway my sister is fine she took her iodine and was not nauseous and it was nice spending time with her and my MOM because being a mother we don't always have time to be together so its a nice BONDING time!!Thanks BRONWYN for your prayers for my sister she will need them but things look on course and I will let you know how it goes I am so CHUFFED to read that ur sister(Lauren) has joined or do I hve the CAT by the TAIL again!!Ha Ha!!!Have a magic day tomorrow after some dreaded shopping we should all be home and HOME is where the HEART is at!!!Oh by the way my I saw some other family members who were exstatic (SORRY CAN"T SPELL BUT I AM ONE!) and lazy to use spell check - and couldn't believe how I look and they were also on COHEN 20 years ago and I am trying to encourage them all to join ( Because some of them need it!!) Ha Ha!!What I found myself doing this couple of days I noticed FAT or OBESE people like me and I wish I could reach out and tell them there is a way to become thin and not to waste 20 years like I did they can do it NOW I have to find a way to reach out to them especially I saw a Pleasantly Plump young blond lady nd when I see all the other DIET BUDDIES photos she could look so stunning if she lost weight and now she just looks sad and UNHAPPY (maybe I over think this but the answer is so close at hand!!) - I am just scared if I tell someone they need DR COHEn I may get punched out or hit over the head with a HANDBAG from a nice dainty LADY - Anyway enough of that must go it 11:30pm need to get up and drive tomorrow have a AWSOME DAY and - YOU CAN DO IT!!!!:innocent3:
PUMBZA, You are just the best, your heart is so big, you are always trying to help people. Maybe, Just maybe, that's why you are losing your weight so quickly. God is blessing you for your kindness. I love your attitude, can't get any better than you. I hope your sister gets well. Just a word of encouragement, my sons mother in law has been thru what your sister is going thru, and to let you know she's is doing great. It has been over 2 years and she's doing great and so will your sister. i will keep her in my :praying: MIMI

Mimi is right Pumbza. In my head I always want to call you Papa Bear because you are so loving, fun, and yes - you have such a big heart and seem so sweet. I know exactly what you mean about wanting to tell everyone who is overweight about 1PD!! I have had the same thoughts (both about the telling them and about my being punched if I do...) I'm sure you will have a positive influence on many people throughout your long and healthy life. Glad to hear your sister is doing all right. Yes - My sister inspired me to do this when she lost weight last summer/fall on this diet. She gained a lot back because she hadn't changed her attitude about the "after diet" life. Now she's reinspired and we'll support each other forever to maintain our health.

Hey PUMBZA
How about naming your (or should I say "our" so I can get in on the profits??) 1pd chain restaurant after yourself, you know "Bean Stalks", cause everybody that follows the plan 100% ends up as skinny as one. What do you think?
As for the profit, I think with further exposure and the volume of obese people lurking everywhere (as your noticing on your trip) what you dont make due to overpricing the menu items will even out with the sheer VOLUME of CUSTOMERS (hey now, Im not referring to the size of our customer, just the amount of larger people out there in need of a good healthy meal) that will frequent the places once the word it out. What you think?
Hope your sis is doing well and kudos to you for finding the wireless connections. YOUR A TRUE BLUE 1PD FORUM JUNKIE NOW THATS GOTTA HAVE HIS DAILY FIX. P.S. You truly are an inspiration as far as the packing and preparing food goes. My next adventure isnt untill Sept, and its beach camping in Oregon. I dont think I should have a problem as we typically cook at camp daily anyway, and unless I buy it or bring it, it aint gonna be in the food bins. Im still not brave enough to visit one of my friends at Lake Tahoe because our visits always used to include margaritas or some yummy champagne drink and Im not strong enough I know to say I would completely resist the temptation. I guess the plus side of that is maybe by the time I see her she wont recognize me cause Ive lost so much weight. Hope so. Keep up the good work Mr Bean Stalk.

Dear Mimi , Bronwyn , Rbride05 and Shasha thats why I love this FORUM you people are just to kind and to nice and you make me blush under my beard!!!Ha Ha!!:love4:Thanks for that information on your son's Mother In Law it makes me really feel better and I know my sister will be alright but thanks for your prayers for my sister she could do with them!!!Ha Ha Bronwyn you really make me laugh my daughters friends at university call me a TEDDY BEAR when I grow my beard a bit longer and PAPA BEAR sound so more mature than I am my son always refers jokingly to me to his friends that I am childish because I am always pulling his leg!!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:Hey Bronwyn when we going to see a picture of you we saw ur stunning sister what about YOU DEAR(Sorry if I am to FORWARD I AM JUST VERY CURIOUS no sinister reasons!!) . Bean Stalks sounds GREAT rbride05 and don't worry we will be there for you when you travel and margaritas do sound GREAt!!!Thanks again OH MIGHT SHASHA the WISE ONE thanks for the warning I meant tuna as a SALAD and the meat balls as a Seperate meal to make up for the 135g because the TUNA is only 125g's but thanks for keeping me TOEING the LINE!!!!
To change the thoughts here I saw a documentary on OBESITY in AMERICA I don't know when it was made but the narrator said that there are 15 Million OBESE people in USA and 2 Million of those are MORBIDLY Obese and TEXAS held the Dubious Title as having the heaviest man the world weighing 1036 pounds can you believe it and the Heaviest TEENAGER in the WORLD they also had the HEAVIEST lady but she Died undergoing a GASTRIC BYPASS operation!!Now please I am not critising anyone or pointing fingers I just thing its very very sad what these poor people have to suffer the 1036 pound man was a normal fit man and then had a family problem and eventually ate himself to a state where he has not been out of his bed in 3 years he could not move his bed broke he did not shower his family just feed him thats all they could do!!!The sad fact and I stand under correction is that its cheaper for the poorer people in the USA to eat takeaway than regular meals so not only is it conveint for the family its also cost effective!!This man was eating 30,000 calouries a day which is incredible considering a normal person's calorie intake is about 2500 to 3000 calouries lets say!!!I just wondered what that must have cost a day they removed excess flesh of the mans leg of 76 pounds can u believe that!!They say that obeseity is GENETIC and is triggered by and inviroment off FOOD every where!!What I am trying to say is that we are all lucky we are in my case OBESE but we can still move around we are very LUCKY to have found DR COHEN because one day we could be just like this man!!When the PRO for the Hospital Reniessance was asked is this the biggest patient she would ever see she said no they are expecting even bigger people in the future because OBESITY is and epedemic!!!I am so SAD for these people and I am so GLAD to be on DR COHEN because I could have become one of thoise statistics its just to scary to think off!!In the USA you GUYS and Girls are lucky to have the Marvelous Hospitals you have here there would be no such help??Anyway sorry for being so depressing this DOCUMENTARY was just so moving!!!Anyway must go to be its work work tomorrow Have a Fantastic day sorry for all the ramblings but this is what the FORUM is for!!!SMILE WHILE YOU LOSE WEIGHT!!!!:innocent3:

Hi all diet buddies I don't even give you a chance to read this mornings messages and the reason for this is I wen't to work and everyone was wowing about my weight loss and the way I look etc.....!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:I eventually spent my time at break time or as they call it here smoke break time (By the way I don't smoke its for some of my other colleagues!) Ha Ha!! I had to explain how the DIET worked and after the meeting I bubbled and Boiled as I discussed my PASSION now losing weight and SHAWN and them from Italian Background will understand the HAND movements that went with the BUBBLING about the DIET!I was Enthuseastic and OverBearing and I spent 20 Minutes talking about the DR COHEN DIET and I definitely mentioned how wonderful the FORUM was as well and what fun it was!!!Ha Ha!!When I am PASSIONATE about something I can be UNSTOPPABLE!!Ha Ha!!!Anyway to cut a LONG STORY short I have about four email addresses and I have one GUY who weighs about 180Kg and I was 158Kg so I have a close connection with him so I am going to keep close contact with him he wan't to start on MONDAY so I will be EMAILING him this afternoon and contacting him PERSONALLY!(PUMBZA PERSONAL SERVICE!!)Ha Ha!!!The rest I preached to and I can only hope they will try the Dr Cohen Diet but the good thing is we meet MONTHLY so I will be in there face again and again and MY BODY can do the TALKING (I sound LIKE a LADY but You know what I mean!!) Ha Ha!!I will also be enthuseastic and use my HAND gestures to drive home the point!!!As I have pointed out on my THREAD PAY IT FORWARD I think I am ONE up with this GUY and NINE to GO!!!Ha Ha!!Anyway to change the subject I had some wonderful Game Meat and Vegtable Hamburger Patties they seemed small but when you ate them they were full of NUTRITION and ENERGY and I enjoyed that very much anyway its end of month I must go off and SIGN at least more than 100 or so cheques and check the invoices so I better go and do some work I bet some of you are going PHEW he is off the site at last!!!Ha Ha!!!Have a magical day and SMILE YOU ARE BURNING FAT!!!!:innocent3:

Imagine what will happen next month when you all meet again ... and as time goes by and you get smaller and smaller and healthier and healthier ... I'm sure people will see that this program is a great investment! Keep up the good work!

Yay Papa Bear!!! That is awesome! I'm so happy you got some positive attention that is so well-deserved. Yes - the best way to motivate is to continue this path that you are on. I have a couple of people who have started 1PD because of my successful journey on the program. You will have followers... I just know it!! Have a great day my friend and keep on burnin' that fat!

{hi} there Pumbza-Lite
That is fantastic!!! {goodjob}
I’m so proud of you for causing a health revolution in your circle of influence!!! :clapping3:
I highly recommend that you read GettinSkinny’s thread in my progress – she’s got such great ideas and one of my favorite for her WOW group is the paperclips that everyone gets – 1 paperclip represents 1 pound and GettinSkinny already HAS A WHOLE BELT!!! YAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!
I remember reading a Helen Steiner Rice poem long ago… and the words from the poem that always stuck with me are: “You can’t pick a rose all fragrant with due, without some of the fragrance remaining on you!” Meaning, when you begin to help others, it motivates you even further…
HAPPY SLIMMING PAPA BEAR – there is a world of fatties to save out there!!! {cheerleader}

{hi} there Pumbza:party8:-Lite
MMMmmmm now I’m feeling rather :hungry:
About cake… did you know that Dr Cohen says that the best cake is a plain and heavy-baked cheesecake with lots of cheese and little flour. The cheese in the cake will block the surge of insulin; therefore, it will not trigger the “fat fact*ry.”
In the meantime, you stay strong cos, it's only cake and it will still be there when you've had your wonderful wardrobe change...

You sound like a fantastic cook! Where do you come up with your ideas??? Maybe you should start a Cohen restauraunt. It would be so healthy and delicious. And it would be cheap for people to go out, no alcohon, small portions. It is a fad that might work in LA. What do you think???

Wow - that's actually a REALLY good idea! Everyone could bring in their programs and food would be portioned out according to your plan. Add free internet service so people can go onto the boards, and I think you've got a winning idea. You just need some of our models to agree to do the advertising ... I'm thinking Bronwyn, Lauren, MrsPeel and Pumbza! If I were a restraunteer I might actually think about this!!

And Shawn, you've come a long way since taking that picture of your first breakfast of a fried egg and green bell pepper, huh?? Good morning (afternoon for you) Pumbza!
Congrats on getting a good blood test response! This means that you've done GREAT staying on plan! Heck, we all knew you were doing great-- just by your amazing weight loss! It's shocking to think that you're almost on your third month - it's amazing how a few short months can change our lives.
By now you know I'm very practical and grounded, so even though I'm thrilled and hopeful for you to reach your goal, I just want to be sure that you feel it's realistic for you. For me, I lost a lot of weight the first month and then the rest didn't seem to go so fast. I think this is a common experience for many on the program. Looking at your footer in more detail I see that you divided your weight loss into three equal goals per month. I'm not sure that the weight comes off like that, although I hope for you it does! With your positive outlook and commitment to the program, you just might be the first to lose so much weight so fast! I want to see your success and enthusiasm continue no matter what the scale says. So if, worst case scenario, you don't have the same level of weight loss by the end of your second month and then your third, I would love to know that you'll be sticking with the program until you hit your goal weight even if it means extending your plan.
I do know that to get your Refeed Guide and Plan you need to be on a support program. So you have to pay to "re-up" for another set of 12 weeks in order to get your personalized refeed plan. I mistakenly thought that you would get the Refeed INCLUDED with your original purchase, but evidently reading the post on here about refeed, I was wrong. I will note that in looking at the 1stpersonaldiet.com website, I do think it is VERY misleading and from a legal perspective it does seem that the REFEED is included in the original purchase as a "Deliverable". I know one of my friends who let her support run out is being denied a refeed because she didn't reach refeed weight until just after her second 12 weeks expired, so they told her she had to PAY AGAIN for refeed, which I don't think she should have to do given the language on the website. In any case, I think it's good to stay focused on the present but yet start planning ahead for what you need to do once this support session runs out.
I think you're going to surprise us all with another 20kg month! :)
Best,
Shawn

Hi Shawn thanks for all your help I did not know that about the refeed it really makes things clear but really MONEY is not the ISSUE I would have paid 10,000 Dollars if someone told me I could lose so much weight so quickly and the money I saved on not eating so MUCH would have paid 10 times over and not to speak about the possible HEALTH related problems that could have cropped up etc!But I know what you mean on the PRINCIPLE of it they should be more clear because it will UPSET people when they should be JUMPING up and down with JOY so maybe the communication is just LACKING there!LEt me just clear something UP and sorry for being misleading I drew up my TICKER details when I was FRESH out of the BOX's a NEWBIE and I tried to set up GOALS and I am absolutely not expecting to lose 20 Kgs because that is the weight I have achieved in the first 4 weeks so NO way can I do that again!!!What I will do when I get my second 4 weeks values I will rework MY ticker and I think my GOAl weight set by DR COHEN and Co is a little to steep so I am busy working out my recommended GOAL weight because I am RATHER BIG BONED (Not a EXCUSE its how I am BUILT!!) I am thinking instead of 98KG being my GOAL weigh I will be BETTER of at 110KG with 20% Fat ratio which is normal range for my weight!!!This will take time to work on and I do actually see myself only maybe finishing in 12 weeks only but I will continue to the end even if it means a 1 YEAR I just couldn't bear to think like that now so I set myself 12 Week Goals rather BUT I want to be in it till I reach my own set GOAL weight at final REFEEED!!!But thanks for your concern and I don't want to mislead anyone or overstate my GOALS and MY Goals are reasonably flexible too!ONLY thing not FLEXIBLE is I MUST LOSE MY EXCESS WEIGHT!!!!Hope that clears that up and have a GREAT day and once again thanks for YOUR help!!!!:innocent3:

Awesome! You know what's best for you. For me Dr. Cohen's recommendation was too HIGH. My range was 184-190 and today I'm at 153! So you have to do what's right for you. I'm just happy to see that you're flexibile and that you're not setting yourself up for disappointment if you don't reach the mini-goals you put in your ticker. And you're SO RIGHT --- people need to stay focused on the big picture, the end goal and how much weight they have already lost and how EASY it was to do it! Who ever heard of losing so much weight without starving yourself and without exercising??? This program is GREAT!!! :) Have a great rest of your day!!!!

{hi} there Pumbza-Lite
Choosing your new wardrobe is easy… just get everything much, much smaller… :flirt: in fact, buying some stuff a little tight would be a great idea!!!
What a bargain that your chest is bigger than your tummy when you pull it in!!! Well done!!!
Shawn & Pumbza: I agree with Bronwyn, it’s fantastic to have both of you here!!! And you are both doing EXCELLENT! Shawn PLEASE STOP losing weight! Pumbza please carry on set the record…
{rofl} I love the Cohen restaurant idea… will have to drop in from Cyberspace for a week or two to test all the menu’s… LOL
Pumbza: I’m thrilled to hear about your Blood test results – that word SATISFIED without any Checklist means your results came back 100% perfect! You’ve been doing everything to the book! Great going!!! Dr Cohen doesn’t put it in that many words, but you scored 100% on your blood test {wave} but hey, how else?? You’ve been so faithful!!!
Now, you need to focus, one day at a time... just as you have been…
We are all very eager to see your 8 week weigh-in… I’m really not sure whether to expect a large drop on the scale, or a large drop in inches… do you find that this month your clothes are growing too big really fast???

Hi Shasha this is really eary we must have what do they call it esp or something like that when I think something and you pick it up all the way I AMERICA!!!Ha Ha!!!:innocent4:I was just putting my pants on this morning (Don't get to excited!!Ha Ha!!Just Kidding!!Ha Ha!!) and realised that the pant's was nearly half the size bigger than when I was a fat chubby LAD!!!Ha Ha!!Because I use to where my Pant's tight around my HIPS now they don't fit on my stomach now its just to BIG and I have to tie them down with a smaller BELT I was a size 46 I think I can fit a size 40 now it is really GREAT and Shasha BEING so perceptive has already PICKED up on it that's amazing shows HOW GREAT you really are!!!Ha Ha!!! Shasha just a question which YOU don't have to answer if its to PERSONAL are you on DR COHEN's DIET or have YOU done it before or Have you not had the SAD pleasure of being PLEASANTLY PLUMP or as in my CASE JUST FAT!!!How long have you been on this FORUM etc we seem to know so little of yOU is that INTENTIONAl a SECRETIVE SHASHA don't worry we won't STALK YOU!!!Ha Ha!!!Anyway must GO and GRILL a KUDU Fillet STEAK it is JUST DELICIOUS with a NICE GARDEN salad and Balsamic vinegar and its my time to eat!!!Have a GREAT DAY and nice to see your BACK!!!!:innocent3:

I have been so busy reading and answering other sites I have neglected my own thread which is meant to help NEWBIES so here Go's!!!I have 3 more days before I get to week 7 on Monday which means I will be ONE week past HALF way I just can't believe it!!!Ha Ha!!:innocent4:Amazing how time flies when YOU are having FUN!!Ha Ha!!!Anyway my pants has definitely GOT bigger and MY belt is doing a whole lot of HOLDING up which is a GOOD thing because I am HOLDING out not BUYING new cloth's till I reach my GOAL weight!!Ha Ha!!!I am still on the expriment of dropping my FRUIT and Crackers and DIET SODA which is OPTIONAL and I WARN the NEWBIES not to do this lightly because its playing a bit of HAVOC on my BLOOD sugar I do feel a bit UP and then DOWN and a BIT more GROUCHY (I have been told one becomes GROUCHY because of lack of Carbohydrates!!) But its only for a little period and I can REVERT back to the fruit, crackers and Diet Soda when I need to!I am bringing in coffee to help with the up and down periods and because I am not a big coffee drinker a cup or two a day I find myself getting quite "HIGH" with my FRIENDS!!Ha Ha!!!I had a some TUNA steak left over from MY grilled TUNA STEAK and salad meal and I made a TUNA and PRAWN soup it was really excellent and filling and I will have it again and its highly recommendable!!!I have been watching my scale now out of shear interest and what Shasha and all the diet buddies say it is very demotivating at TIMES because you will go down one day and on the next two days you will plateau and go no where so the last thing YOU want is a DEMOTIVATING FACTOR So OHhhh please NEWBIES PUT YOUR SCALE AWAY after every 4 week weigh in!!!I know we are all curious but I think the demotivating FACTOR could hurt people BADLY!My reason for doing it and I am not enjoying it is I am trying to figure if I am losing more by not having FRUIT,CRACKERS and DIET SODA which are optional and in my opinion so far stick with Fruit, crackers & diet soda because I have seen no marked difference yet and YOU will feel much better every day your blood sugar been in balance I am up and down all over the CHART!I could never have done this in the first 4 weeks I am more in control now because I have followed the DIET 100% and to stray NOW would be just CRAZY and Illogical and of course anything can HAPPEN and Hopefully won't(Enough Negative TALK!!) The UPSIDE is that I am losing weight and pants size and PEOPLE are commenting on how I have lost weight around my face I can't see this (suppose to use to my face!!ha Ha!!)And TIME is really moving on!!!I have also remodified my ticker to be a bit more realistic so I can meet my GOALS thanks to the reminder from SHAWN and I have also rethought MY GOAL weight and it will change as one gets closer to YOUR GOAL WEIGHT as well!!!AND remember "YOU CAN DO IT" have a BRILLIANT SUNSHINE DAY!!!:innocent3:

Here we go day 50 and I woke up before 3am I don't know what it is BUT I don't sleep long and I don't battle to go to sleep and I don't really get SLEEPY at all!!!Fell behind updating this page because answering other message but back on track NOW!!!I am still ok just fighting the scale a little its amazing how the weight fluctuates one day you lose weight then you lose weight every 2 days and now you lose weight every 3 days really up and down I can see why DR COHEN and co recommend not to look at scale until 4 week periods are UP it could be so DEMOTIVATING!!!Meals are really becoming quick just eating vegtables and protien's and where I use to spend a long time at meals its over after some GOOD CHEWING!!!I now drink 3 Litres of water to curb FAT BURNING pains and I have added TWO cups of Coffee(Black) To DIET to help me though to bed time from 11pm or 12pm and I take one vitamin in the morning and One at LUNCh this really helps!!!!I must cut some time from the web spending to much time on it amazing what fun it is and is highly recommended!!Ha Ha!Replace my food addiction with a addiction to the web at least thats healthy!!!I am of to JHB to pick up my YOUNGEST for HOLIDAYS and she is getting a wisdom tooth removed as well so I will be away for 5 days already planned food adding meat hamburger patties to my TUNA salad I will have every day YOGHURT still for breakfast Will try keep in contact from the HOTEL if TIME and CHILD allows it!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:Have a GREAT DAY and I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!! :innocent3:

{hi} there Pumbza
I can’t believe you’ve been on diet for 50 days already!! Really looking forward to your weigh-in… and I do think you should pack your scale away until the 8 weeks are UP – not sure that you’re going to listen to the advise though…
Thrilled to hear that your body is catching up to your weight loss – {wave} the second month is usually a great month for shrinking! Especially with the WOW amount that you shook off in your first 4 weeks alone! :party3:
I’d be careful with the blood sugar – don’t want you feeling hungry and going through a plateau and then thinking to yourself: is this worth it? You must focus on the BIG picture! The mountain top!!! The summit!! Forget about the upheaval on the way there… getting to goal is all that counts and never allow yourself to entertain the thought that just this one little bit won’t hurt… sometimes when one can be doing so very well, the  can come along and try to snag you… so, always be on your guard and watch your thinking… this is worth it! You can do it!!! But, why make it more difficult than you have too??

Nice to see YOU are back isn't it funny if YOU told me in the beginning I would be MESSING around like this I would have been stunned but once YOU go through 4 weeks its like a barrier like the sound barrier NOW cheating is not a OPTION when ever I even think of looking side ways to deviate I think about my WEIGHT loss I am getting to figures that I have not seen in YEARS!!!I am on 100% the crackers and Fruit and Diet soda are not far away and I will carry them with me when I leave HOME to travel they are my emergency parachute!!!Shasha OH PLEASE I am Not Not listening I am just FASCINATED about the mechanics and I am getting myself ready for refeed (Ha Ha GOOD EXCUSE Ha Ha!!) I am like a OBSERVER I am over wanting to CHEAT - I never say NEVER because as YOU have said WE can be tempted anytime!!!I definitely can tell you with authority I will not be losing as much as the FIRST 4 WEEKS which I expected I always start with a BOOM and then FIZZLE out but its still GREAT!!!!The GOOD NEWS SHASHA I am telling YOU first my cholestrol is very low the LOWEST I have seen in YEARS my Blood PRESSURE is EVEN LOWER I HAVE NEVER seen the figures this LOW before and I can feel it to I use to hear ring sounds in my ears when I get up to do something now I just feel good and I can do so much lately I have been getting up at 03:00am and I am not tired all day it feels GREAT!!!!Well AUNTIE SHAHSA you always bring out the verbal direha in me all the time!!Ha Ha! I know you want to avoid the fruit and crackers, but I think you made a great decision traveling with them "just in case". Remember, cheating is NOT an option, despite how much we lose. Have a safe trip down to JHB.

Hi PUMBZA
I tried maybe one or two days of not eating the fruit and cracker options and found that I actually need them to keep my blood sugars more stable. Ive been using a glucose monitor to check them in the morning each day. Oddly enough on the days I did not consume the crackers or fruit options, then next morning my blood sugars would be higher. Im gonna keep on eating them, and dont really think I could do without the fruit option anyway. Have a good trip, and I agree with Shawn. If your traveling they just might be your safety plan to keep you on program.

{oops} {sorry} to hear about the wisdom tooth! That’s really very sore!
You’ll have to give her a :bighug: from me… and remember that ice applied ASAP post operatively can really help with the swelling…
Please do follow your eating plan 100% while you’re on the road – we’re all very anxiously awaiting your weigh in results…
FYI there is no 8 week blood test – blood tests are only on 4, 12, 16 weeks and every 8 weeks after this… so, you don’t have to worry about that… just please do focus on eating right!

Yeah...I haven't really been craving anything either. And I feel really good! The hardest thing so far has been watching my husband eat sweet corn on the cob!!! And blueberries...they are my most favorite fruit and of course are not on my fruit list! Because of the abundant rainfall we had earlier this summer in Michigan the blueberries are wonderfully big and sweet this year (or so I've read.....I haven't eaten any!!!).

I can forgo chocolate, chips, and pizza, but blueberries??? Now that is tough! My husband and my 4 yr old eat them almost every day! No blueberry picking for you this year eh? (That's my favorite Michigan activity!)
Good for you Pumbza! I'm so glad you are enjoying your family. They of course notice your fantastic weight loss. It is probably hard for them to believe that you aren't starving because it looks like so little food. but we know better don't we!!!

Pumbza - GREAT job on avoiding all that temptation! I'm with you, my friend. I have these kids at work that eat anything they want and stay thin as can be (they're teenagers and swimmers, so their metabolisms are amazing). For the most part I never feel those urges to eat what they do -- mostly because what I'm eating on the plan fills me up! I have a co-worker that brings in chocolate cookies, candy bars, candy ... and puts it right on my desk within arm's reach, but I don't go for it because it just doesn't bother me. Keep up the good work - I can't wait to hear about your next weigh-in! - Shawn

Speaking of swimmer metabolisms. Apparently Michael Phelps works off 4000 cals in a workout, and has to eat 12,000cals a day. Man! I know this isn't a cal based diet, but I wonder abut how many cals we are eating? When I ran a mini-triathalon I only burned 1500 cal. A really hard workout 1 hour, I can burn 600.
Aren't you amazed at what our bodies can do? pretty cool!

Hi All just finished of with my daughter going to have her 4 wisdom teeth removed she is bit sore and is wearing a ice pack on her face to reduce the swelling but she is talking a little and just watching TV so all looks fine!!!Ha Ha!!:innocent4:I had to run around getting tin soup and some juice and drinking yoghurt and some Lucozade to help her stay HYDRATED and I got the HOTEL that only deals in BREAKFAST to heat up the soup and she ate half of it which is not to bad and she ate a ICECREAM as well!!!I nerly had a accident because I got to supper at 08:30pm and found out that my salad for the TUNA salad had gone of (Misjudged the freshness of salad in a cool box!) so I had to dash to a specialised Garage that sells GREEK salad at 230g and I dumped the feta cheese and the olives and I ate the small amount of tomatoe and onion and cucumber and I ate some lettuce to estimate the 110g of Salad that I need!!!I don't like not being exact because its medication and in future when I travel I must bring my scale and my chopping board and pairing knife so I will have a PLAN "B" and as SHAWN said its PLANNING PLANNING and PLANNING!!I can't wait to go home and to miss all the temptations and stop eating Yoghurt Impala Hamburgers and TUNA salad for the last 6 days and to eat something else!!!Ha Ha!!Have a GOOD DAY and I am thinking of all of YOU!!!:innocent3:

{hi} there Pumbza-Lite
I’m sure that your Aunt is right! You must be looking really gorgeous by now!!! Reminds me of a good red wine… better with age and… YES!!! YOU MUST STAY 4EVA!!! Whatever will we do if you go away :crying:
I was sooooo touched by your daughter’s reaction! Man, I’m willing to bet you that that feeling of seeing her little face when she saw her new Daddy, made all the sacrifices totally insignificant! It’s like burger?? – what burger!!! It’s just food and so what, who cares! It's petrol for the vehicle - not the life of the vehicle!!! You’ve got something much more precious than food! Bought back time, good health and feeling great about yourself!!! Every pound you've pushed aside has added time to your LIFE SPAN TICKER!!!
Must say, some of us Forum Gal’s are going to be mighty jealous when we find out there’s a new Mrs Pumbza-lina looking over your shoulder when you write to us!!! Who knows… they say life begins at 40! :love5:
The fact that you are not having any cravings is 100% GREAT – it means that your hormones are balanced and this can only be accomplished when you follow your eating plan perfectly! Diet Buddies who have made the mistake of going off the program to eat “starch / chocolate etc” find it really, really hard to get back on plan because when the go off the hormones become unbalanced again – this leads to hunger and cravings and that I’m in the mood for food feeling… so, best is to stay where you are: 100% on plan!! Then do your Re-feeding Program so that you DO NOT shock your body...
Rachel: you said “I burn 800-850 with all the fruit and crackers” – I disagree with you… on the diet your body is using food from what you eat AND food from your previously stored up stash… on your … you know where…
Pumbza: Shawn uses the lime with salt… and of course tequila! lol…
About your question to Shawn:
Tell me shawn with the refeed won't it be easier to work out the calories say 2000 0r 2500 to get to normal eating and then to work out your food accordingly to know what target YOU need to reach??Maybe they want us to rebuild our eating slowly back to NORMAL and not rush into it!!!
I’m sure Shawn won’t mind me answering it… it’s Friday night, the man get’s to have his first glass of wine in a loooooong time, I’m thinking, he’s probably having a great time now…
So, I’ll just jump in, trusting he wont’mind:
During the last couple of Days, Shawn has been teaching his body to cope with much more food… I know for sure he is going to back me up on this!!! LOL!!! I have not idea how much more calories this is, nor will I be counting them… that’s just to much effort!!!
In order to stay slim and healthy in his new lifestyle he can forget about trying to follow a diet that is calorie based ie: 2000 calories from chocolate has a TOTALLY different effect on your body than 2000 calories from healthy proteins and veggies…
Dr Cohen says that certain foods have certain effects… too much starch / carbs / sweets etc triggers too much insulin (the fat storing hormone) which results in blood sugar going too fast from the blood stream into the cells – they cannot use all this energy at once, so they work very hard to store it… you know where.
Back in the blood stream, the blood sugar level because of the insulin drops too low too fast – result is low blood sugar and feelings of hunger, cravings, being in the mood for food etc… Your body cannot produce enough serotonin (which controls cravings) and enough growth hormone (which burns fat) This is what Dr Cohen calls your fat fact*ry – result = weight gain. Not a good place to try to stay slim!
So, Dr Cohen has some Maintenance Guidelines that will teach you some things for life after the diet… he says do not eat starch for breakfast – too much insulin early in the morning will trigger hunger by 10 am and you will end up eating all day… and we know the result to this is going to reflect on your hips
FYI: Shawn’s days of bread with breakfast are almost over!!
Following Re-feeding he’s going to limit starch to once a day – either lunch or dinner… and, although he can enjoy a cookie (size does count) or a piece of chocolate etc, it’s going to be done in a specific way ie: not at 10 am – but, within 1 hour of his starch meal. This will help to prevent blood sugar from dropping too low too fast and food from being converted into fat…
I know what you are thinking: How much can he eat? Right now he is getting first hand experience – day by day training and learning how much his body can cope with… after Re-feeding he doesn’t have to weigh his food again, only himself… if his weight remains stable: bingo, he has it all under control, but if the pounds begin to pack up again he will need to slow down – especially on starch etc. but remember right now he is already having 3 slices of bread and 50 g of cooked starch per day… quiet a bit! After the diet he will combine all the starch he wants to eat into one meal ie: bread, potato – it doesn’t matter. THE KEY IS: He is going to limit how often he triggers too much insulin – Dr Cohen says: ONCE A DAY!!! And that is not the same as all day long… and this is what makes the difference. This is what allows your body to fetch your fat and use it as energy instead of storing storing storing storing… limiting the amount of insulin…
After Re-feeding, you don't need to walk around with a scale to measure food, nor do you have to walk around with a calculator to add up calories... it's all about following a couple of simple rules!

ShaSha, that's a great post! That should be set aside somewhere for all to easily find as an explanation of both the diet and refeed. Wow! Thank you!!!
Pumbza, Shasha's right - the lime was to help the tequila go down :) When I was in Mexico, they told me that they put the lime in the top of the Corona bottles to keep the flies out. LOL I put lime in my Grey Goose vodka to add a little bit of a citrus flavor. Otherwise, it just makes a "fancy" garnish -- somewhat wasteful but it can add just a little flavor to a drink.
Ok, have to figure out what I'm eating today. Gotta do something different....
