I am the type of person that can go all day without drinking water or anything. On all the other diets I've drank flavored water (much easier to drink) Any suggestions??????
Do you really lose more????????

hey carebear...
are you drinking what dr. cohen suggests? are you having at least 2-3 liters a day?
if you are do not worry about it.
i drink loads of water, but that is a personal. choice. i feel it helps my loss, helps my skin and helps with constipation.
i like to fill a jug with filtered water and add a few slices of lemon (do not squeeze or it counts as a fruit allowance) and fresh mint leaves from my garden...
it's very refreshing as it is so warm in NY right now!!!
i know i lose more when i drink more.

Carebear, I'm like you. I don't drink because I'm not thirsty. BUT the body really needs water to flush out all the bad stuff (and all the fat your body will be breaking down). I will say that I have noticed that when I'm really good about drinking my water, I lose more than when I don't drink water. So my very unscientific recommendation: force yourself to drink the 2L per day. I usually leave a glass in the kitchen already full, and every time I go in for whatever reason, I take a sip or two - thirsty or not. I also find I drink more when I use tall glasses than when I use 1L water bottles. (Not sure why ... maybe it's just easier to drink from a glass than from a water bottle?) Good luck, and happy drinking :)

I know I need to drink water but if I brew sun tea will it count as water????? Thank you for the replys I really appreciate it. I do drink water with my vitamins ,when I work out and at night when I would normally be having a glass of wine or beer. I even have a hard time drinking a diet soda just because I never drank soda before this diet. I basically nurse a soda all day and very rarely finish it.

i think the sun tea is a great choice, i drink loads of iced tea...BUT it has to be in addition to the H20. the caffeine in tea, even de-caf may not be helpful...
sha-sha will be here soon to tell us what the real deal is-

Water means water. Clean, fresh water. Any additional water in the form of tea, coffee, etc. is a bonus.
Prior to this diet, I drank virtually no plain water at all - and I've now been drinking 2 liters plus every day since last December. It's an easy habit to acquire if you just do it. I agree with Shawn that it's often easier to drink from a glass, but either way, I set out two 1-liter bottles of water every morning for myself and MrPeel, and they have to be gone by bedtime. Simple! :)

Hi Carebear,
I too have such a hard time drinking the water. I seem to do better when I'm at work with the water bottle on my desk. However, on weekends at home I just don't get it in... I am on week 3 tomorrow. I sure hope I am losing the weight. I have lost inches, for sure..

So does drinking the water help flush out the toxins and the fat? I normally drink a bunch of water anyways but I dont' want it to add water weight. I've lost 10 lbs and I'm in my second week of the diet (i started the 3rd of july) and believe it or not I wish I was thinner. Although my clothes fit differently...
I drink the soda (wish I could find diet orange) and drink some tea and the water....I just hope it's not sticking to me.
Are we allowed to drink other diet sodas besides the diet coke and diet pepsi, I could go for a diet dr pepper or diet mt. dew.
Also is Hansens natural soda allowed?
Just curious. Thanks all!:)

Sharma, I think the best thing for you to do is sit down and read your Personal Diet Guide from start to finish. It will explain to you how and why the diet works if followed exactly - things like drinking the water to help flush fat and toxins away, etc. You will not put on water weight - retaining water is usually a result of too little hydration, not the opposite. The sodas that are allowed are listed also - no Hansen's.
All of us are happy to share our experiences and any tips we may have gleaned from being on the plan for a while, but there are so many basics covered in the Guide already!
Congrats on losing 10 lbs. in less than 2 weeks! That's quite rapid weight loss and you should be proud.

Carebear.... I too am not a water drinker. I struggle to get my water in everyday. I try to make a point to stop and just drink a liter at one time. I keep the water a little on the warm side. It's hard to down cold water. I try to drink it early in the morning so I have all day to pee it out. Good Luck.

My Water Update: After reading Bitten's post again, I decided to reread my Customer Guide and check up on the lemon issue. I remembered not wanting to use lemon because it would count against a fruit, and at the start of the progam I wanted all the fruits available as an option. But Bitten was right -- if you don't squeeze it, it doesn't count as a fruit! Now, that doesn't make any sense to me as letting the lemons sit in the water for a long time they slowly start to break up anyway, but hey, a rule's a rule. So yesterday I began putting UNSQUEEZED lemon into my water. Not only did I ENJOY the water again (I used to always put lemon in my water in the summer, but I always squeezed it) but I also EASILY drank my 2L of water. In fact, this morning I had finished off 1L before 8AM! So my new recommendation is to follow Bitten's advice: add a few slices of unsqueezed lemon to the water and enjoy. Like Hugentobler, I prefer my water only slightly chilled -- makes it easier to drink, and I drink more.
Pepper Update: So the supermarket didn't have jalapeno peppers for about 2 weeks, so I bought some green chili peppers to use in my eggs. They didn't do anything for me - no hot spicy flavor, no added zing really. Perhaps I didn't use enough - I only used one chili. Yesterday the jalapenos were back, so this morning I diced up 1/2 of a small jalapeno pepper and added that into the eggs and WOW! What a difference! Maybe that's why I drank so much water!!! Anyway, I don't see jalapenos on the list of approved peppers, and so far all I've heard about is green chilis ... but seeing as I've lost a lot of weight and both Mr. and Mrs. Peel have eaten the jalapenos and lost a lot of weight, I'm guessing they're ok in moderation. (I think 1/2 jalapeno pepper a day should be fine ... what is that, 5g maybe?)
PS. I'm typing with one eye closed because I just rubbed an eye and evidently the jalapeno pepper oil didn't come off my hand when I washed it. OUCH! So if using jalapenos, be careful :)

All of this water talk has made me quite curious..... unlike some of you, I find that if the water is ice cold, I drink it alot faster, and I have always read that the colder the water, the harder your body works to warm it up and the more calories you burn. Not sure if there is anything to that or not, but interesting anyway. But, I digress. Here's my question.... is there any difference in sipping the water throughout the day or just guzzling it all at once and peeing it out the rest of the day as Hugentobler mentioned? Does anyone know? I have wondered that if I drink the water really fast if I am losing some of its flushing ability because it may move through my system faster than if I just sip it?

GettinSkinny, I'm no expert, but it seems to me that evenly hydrating throughout the day is much better than a marathon guzzle to get it over with. The idea is to let your body know that it will be receiving food and water regularly so that it doesn't "hoard" it. Shasha, what say you??

{hi} there Everyone
Can your car drive without petrol?
Or your fridge stay cold without electricity or gas?
…I didn’t think so…
I’m such a water-o-holic, and always have been, I wonder how anyone can survive a morning, let alone a day without it? I know everyone is different, but that’s just me…
I think something like 70% of our body’s consists of water… and it’s essential for most body functions, even breathing!
 I mean, I don’t particularly like oxygen… it’s rather polluted and, I just don’t see the need to breath… I think I’ll just stop with that for a day or two…
{rofl} LOL I think you get my point…
In your New Customer Guide, Mrs Peel is right, WATER IS WATER – not tea… and water is essential to your success on the program.
Shawn is right, if you don’t drink your water, you won’t see the same results – in fact, not drinking your FULL 2 liters of H2O will show up in your blood test results as a DEVIATION from the program and it will slow your progress down!
Sharma: Mrs Peel is 100% right, the best way to cure water retention is to drink more water. If you don’t drink enough water, your body will feel threatened, so, it holds back water, resulting in water retention – 2 or 3 days of drinking enough water will help your body to relax and let go, because it no longer feels threatened.
But you don’t have to take my word for it, you can simply take a hint from the Creator, who sends down rain to refresh the whole earth and all who live in it - rain = water, not diet soda, tea, coffee, fruit juice or beer… but plain uncomplicated water to rehydrate – all the others are simply man made treats… with chemicals etc...
So, drink up on the H2O… and you can have it room temperature or cold or even warm… as far as I’m concerned, it ends up body temperature inside of you in any case.
Again Mrs Peel is right: you should spread it out – like breathing: it doesn’t work that well if you breath fast and heavy for 5 minutes and they try stopping for the next hour…
Page 12 of your New Customer Guide says:
Drink Water
It is essential that you drink at least 6–8 glasses of water every day (68 oz/2 liters).
It is recommended that you keep a large 34 oz (1 liter) cup of water next to you, and drink constantly during the day—filling it twice daily. Your body fat is like a sponge, and it contains toxins. With the rapid fat breakdown on the diet, these toxins are released into the bloodstream, and the water is essential to flush out the toxins.
About the lemon – just do not squeeze it, or play with it ie: don’t poke it with a straw to make more lemon flavouring come out – only what is natural...
Bitten: Great idea with the mint leaves!
Tip from the life beyond the diet: If you eat wrong after your diet you will gain less weight if you drink more water than if you eat the same amount but drink less water… I cannot explain it… it just seems to work that way…
Shawn: What colour are your Jalapeno’s?? Red = NO!! Green = fine:-) LOL You gotto be careful with those gorgeous blue eyes!!!

thanks sha-sha-
i am such a big water drinker. i feel ill if i do not have enough.
the one thing i have learned from all my yo -yo years of dieting and now from my beloved 1st personal is.....
NO sugar for me....ever, really.
and at least 3 liters of water.
i think what you said is spot on.
if you do eat off plan (after diet...) water will make a huge difference in your bodies ability to hold the extra calories and naughty stuff.
in short: drink your water, all day everyday.

I've given up nursing a soda and started nursing water. I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR HELP. I am definately going to try the lemon. I am just curious about how much lemon. I can use a whole one all day right. It doesn't really make a difference to me if it counts as a fruit. I maybe eat two fruits a day. I am very curious too if everyone has to redue their blood test after the first month or am i just losing to slow??

Carebear - I think everyone has to get a blood draw after the 1st four weeks just to see how you're doing on the program. I think lemon slices are "Free" if you will -- if you don't squeeze them or poke 'em around, they won't count against your fruit allowance. I'm all about the lemon this week :)
Shasha - thanks for the compliments .. I'm still blushing and although my cheeks are red, my jalapenos are green! :) I LOVED the "no playing with your food" addition to the "don't squeeze the lemon" rule LOL

Hi. This is my first week and the first day was almost impossible for me to get down the water. I did end up one or two cups short. The following day I knew I had to get it in. I figured out that I would drink twice as much if I used a straw. I go over to cup of joe at lunch time and get a large ice tea. First, the cup holds more that two cups of water and plus the straw is really wide compaired to others. Now I have made it through two days hitting the water goal.:applause: I am actually sitting here thinking I am thirsty and need to get more water.
On a more humorious note. Is anyone peeing as much as I am? I have NEVER used the restroom this much!!!

{hi} there Precious Peee~ple
We are launching a new blook on this very same subject called:
Rush to the Loo – by Wil E Makit
Bitten: I agree with you, cos if I even mildly don’t get enough water, I actually start to feel irritated…
Shawn: Glad to hear those chilies are GREEN… and HOT! :flirt:
Carebear: 4 week blood test is for everyone… slower weight loss can be attributed to not drinking enough H2O… So, drink up… and there is no harm in telling yourself:
lfingers11: Are you buying ice-tea and if so, WHAT IS IN IT? :cop: Caution because you are not allowed to buy flavored teas – especially not fruit flavored ones…
About that frequent running to the Loo, BONUS POINT: not only are you flushing old fat and toxins away and YOU ARE EXERCISING TOO!!! {wave}

I don't like flavored tea's so I am ok there. I don't like sweetners so I am great there.:) I am going Wednesday to Whole Foods so I will try and find a super healthy tea and sneek it in on my husband too :innocent4:
He LOVED the steak and salad I made for him last night. I hate cooking but have actually enjoyed doing it since I am making healthy things that are going to have a result on my waist line.
