I am starting on the 24th and I need some breakfast Ideas as I have all my live eaten Bacon and eggs and toast or cereal and fruit! The Cohen Diet really cuts down options so I want to be prepared before I start so I won't get waylaid:innocent4:
I see I can only use 20gm of onion and one tomatoe for the day that sort of limits my options for the meals for the day!Excuse the dumb questions but this is all very new to me have done plenty other diets that did not work due to lack of discipline etc and I really need to suceed with this Diet!:innocent3:

{hi}there Pumbza

A very WARM WELCOME TO YOU!! :bighug:

Yes, the portion sizes are limited but I’m sure that after about a week or so of following your eating plan you will find the foods satisfying… You can still have your fried egg in the morning, but with mushrooms and a slice of tomato instead of bacon and bread… Mushroom omelets make for a delicious and filling breakfast! You can also make hardboiled eggs and mash them up onto your crackers if you like.

Please have a look in the Recipe section for many delicious ideas – lots of Diet Buddies report enjoying the Zucchini Hash Brown’s… I think you may really like them too!

You’ve come to the right place! If you follow your eating plan 100%, this can be the last diet that you ever need to do! So, go for it and determine up front that you will follow your eating plan 100% {cheerleader} and, while you are reaching for your goals, please come and tell us a little bit more about yourself, where you are from etc and how much weight you are wanting to leave behind? Hopefully you’ll get a ticker too so that we can all monitor your progress and cheer you as you go along…

First of all, here's some help with your ticker:
On the main Forum page, second topic from the top is "1st Personal Diet Tickers" - click on that and it will take you to the window where you can design your ticker and select a PIN for it. Once you've made your choices and saved them, you will be given the option of copying a link in HTML or BB code. Copy the BB code and then go to your Control Panel page. Select "Edit Signature" at the top left, and when the window appears, paste the BB code for your ticker into the box. Preview your signature to see that it works. From then on, when you update your ticker on the original link, the changes will automatically show up in your posts.

Easy!

Now, I want to encourage you in your first steps towards health! I, too, had a goal weight loss of 101 lbs., and I am less than 25 pounds from achieving that goal! I started the Plan on Dec. 18 of last year, and I will be in a bathing suit this summer, for sure. More than that, my husband also went on the Plan and he was on blood pressure meds when he began. He was off the meds by the second week, and has maintained a healthy low blood pressure ever since! Both of us have dropped bad cholesterol as well.
This can be your one and only diet IF you are determined to make it so. Set your cap for the work ahead and keep your eyes on the prize - a slender, happy, healthy you!

Pumbza- Welcome to the Cohen gang. You have found the one diet that WILL WORK if you follow the guidelines. We are here to help you create your own success story. You can do this. Use this forum to help you through your journey. These people have been here for me for the last 4 months. I couldn't have done this without them.

As for breakfast, on mornings when I'm running out the door, I eat a yogurt with Splenda and cinnamon. I sometimes add a rice cake to it to add a crunch or cut up some fruit. Mango is my favorite. I put my yogurt in individual little Tupperwares so I can grab them and go. One other quick option is celery and cream cheese. On mornings when I can actually sit down, I will salute some onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and then scramble an egg. I make a little sandwich ... cracker with a little mayo, the saluted veggies, and the egg on top. I add a side of fruit and a cup of tea.

Good Luck on the start of your diet.

Pumbza:
Welcome to this awesome life change and group! I felt the same way when I read and continue to read through the postings! I feel your pain as it relates to breakfast. An idea I got when I started 2 weeks ago is a breakfast smoothie. It has been perfect, satisfying and is fassst.

Here's a sample:

1 6oz Plain Yougurt (non fat)- I have been getting Dannon
1 Mango (my favorite!) or 1 peach or 1 nectarine
A few Ice Cubes
1/4 cup of water
Some days I add cimmamin

I haven't added Stevia, but have read that other do and like it. I am trying tp stay as natural as possible and only use Stevia in my tea. Stevia is natural and many people like the extra sweetness.

I have also had a hard boiled egg and celery in the morning. I do think there is something to changing it up during the week.

I wish you all the success in the World. The plan does work. I am down 10 and just got back from an Anniversary 4 day getaway with my husband. He could hardly believe how disciplined I was. Best part is only after two weeks my wedding ring fits again!

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Ladies I thankyou for your advice much appreciated by a new person who has struggled with discipline all there lives but I want desperatly to make this DIET count and with all the helpful people I am very positive but Very NERVOUS!Ha Ha!:innocent4:The breakfast ideas are great and they are definitely on my planner for my start!I would like take u up on your offer for help and it is as follows I understand most of the DIET but I am struggling with one part the Multi Vitamin Story in as far as the vitamins are used at every meal or once or twice a day?Trying to get a vitamin with a B6 below 5mg are there any brand vitamins that have what Dr Cohen requires?
The Lovely thing about this site is I don't have to make the same mistake other NEWBIES had to make with out additional help for example I was not even going to bother with Multi Vitamins but I see it helps with the Diet so I will definitely have to find something relevant quickly Tuesday is around the corner!:innocent3:

Pumbza, I use Centrum 50+ (I am 52), which has 3 mg of B6, I believe. I think others on this Forum have had good luck with the regular Centrum formula. I am sure there are other options, but maybe you can start with this so there's no delay!

{hi}there Everyone & especially to our new Buddie Pumbza

{grouphug1}
I agree 100% with Pumbza: and must say that WE HAVE THE BEST DIET BUDDIES EVER!!!
{wave}

Pumbza: Sorry to hear about your high blood pressure and High Cholesterol – just a little TIP: Blood pressure normalizes quiet rapidly on the 1st Personal Diet Program. If you are on medication to lower your blood pressure, you will probably find that you end up experiencing low blood pressure symptoms such as dizziness or feeling lightheaded, especially when you stand up… when this happens it is a sure sign for you to go back to your personal doctor so that they can monitor your blood pressure and change or possibly reduce your medication… What happens regarding your cholesterol could depend on which type of cholesterol you do have – if the problem has been diet related, it’s bound to be sorted out by your new healthier eating!

It would be a FANTASTIC Birthday pressie, firstly to yourself and secondly to your children to become healthy and well again! You can certainly move some mountains by December!!!

The 1st Personal Diet Program does not have an official multi-vitamin that they do recommend, but many Diet Buddies are using Centrum…

I’m sure that Mrs Peel will tell you lots more about her fantastic success at Peeling away them pounds… but, you can know 2 things for sure: progress is made by following your eating plan 100% 1 day at a time and yes, it takes time, time, time and more time… change does not happen overnight, but with slow steady daily steps and of course a good healthy dose of determination…

Wishing you all the best ~ I look forward to seeing that ticker GOING DOWN!!! {cheerleader}

Hey, Pumbza!

I don't mind repeating some of my posting for your benefit! I don't think any of us on this Forum get tired of hearing how successful 1PD can be, if you stick with it.

I started the first 12 weeks on Dec. 18, 2007, and today is actually the final day of my second 12 weeks. I weighed in this morning at 175 pounds exactly - so, 25 more to go and I have re-upped for another 12 weeks. Here's a repeat of an earlier post on my inches lost:

Okay, so today was my last endermologie session for the time being, so my endermologist took photos and measurements for the record. I thought I would share the results with my diet buddies!
Started 1PD Dec. 18th, 2007, took measurements at that time. Then we took them again today, April 30th, 2008:

Upper right arm: Dec - 14 5/8" / Apr - 12 3/4" (-1 7/8")
Upper left arm: Dec - 14 6/8" / Apr - 12 5/8" (-2 1/8")
Chest (under the breasts): Dec - 40 1/2" / Apr - 35 2/8" (-5 2/8")
Upper waist: Dec - 41 3/8" / Apr - 34 1/2" (-6 7/8")
Largest part of stomach: Dec - 45 1/2" / Apr - 38 1/2" (-7")
Upper right thigh: Dec - 29 1/2" / Apr - 24 5/8" (-4 7/8")
Upper left thigh: Dec - 29 3/8" / Apr - 24 1/4" (-5 1/8")
Above right knee: Dec - 20 1/2" / Apr - 18 3/8" (-2 1/8")
Above left knee: Dec - 20 3/8" / Apr - 18 7/8" (-1 1/2")

TOTAL 36 6/8" lost!

I have yet to do my measurements today, but I can tell you I have gone from a size 40 waist at the start to a size 31 today! And MrPeel is almost to re-feed, having lost 40 pounds so far. He started approx. a month after I did.

This commitment to weight loss and a healthier you is a wonderful gift to your kids, but an even more wonderful gift to yourself!

Shasha I have been told if I lose weight my cholestrol and high pressure will disappear no more medication at all I have heard this I just need to loose the weight and I am raring to Go come Tuesday!!!!I also am close to level 2 dieabetic all related to weight I also have sleep apnea (I can't spell as u can see but I am one Ha Ha) that means I stop breathing while I sleep from time to time which creates severe tiredness and stress on the body!I Now use a breathing machine on the highest limit to help this condition once again if I lose weight it all disappears I will be

{hi} there Pumbza

I want you to WRITE THAT LIST DOWN and STICK IT UP NEXT TO YOUR MIRROR!

Not only must you get rid of the 50 pounds recommended, but you NEED TO SHAKE OFF ALL as in each and every one of THOSE 101 POUNDS!!

The reason I’ve said the above is because you will be more likely to keep your weight down if you shake off ALL the excess fat – if you only drop half you will still have too much excess fat, Re-feeding won’t work and your body will be prone to storing fat.

Have you ever noticed how the more you became overweight, the faster you actually gained weight? It’s like a snow ball the runs down hill and becomes an avalanche! Gaining momentum and becoming frightening as it gets faster and faster… spinning out of control.

The more overweigh you become the more efficient your ‘fat fact*ry’ will be ie: the more insulin your body will produce (insulin being your fat storing hormone).

So, you need to see this fat thing as your ENEMY – you’re not going to play games with it, you are going to Totally destroy it!! {pan} Totally annihilate it!! :elmer: Totally Terminate it!! {explode}

LOL – Oh boy have I been watching too many movies!!! Sorry, watched HULK last night and I guess it’s showing LOL…

In any case, your LIFE depends on this! And, the reason I asked you to write down this list is so that when you are half way there and you are no longer feeling any of these side effects or suffering from these problems you can remind yourself that you need to keep on keeping on otherwise you could go back to having these symptoms again.

It’s funny, but you don’t notice when you don’t have back ache any more – you only notice it when you do… so it helps to have a list of reason why you don’t EVER want to gain weight again…

pumbza
06-18-2008, 05:20 PM
Thanks again and again for the motivation somewhere on this site I read some Diet Buddie saying you are the greatest and I can see why u are full of motivation and if The HULK gets you going why not (GReat Movie love comics Ha Ha)!!:innocent4:I forgot to mention one thing I thing is very important for the first time in years I have realised that my obesity is a disease and all this time I have been blaming myself for being useless and not losing weight! Now that I know I have a disease I am going to try my best to medicate it with the correct medicine which is a well balanced meals!I must admit I am nervous about my emotional eating just eating for the sake of eating and also I hope I won't be to hungry all the time I am hoping that my body balances out and I can stick to the measured food! But I will put all my illnesses on the fridge and on the wall to show me my goal of getting rid of illnesses that do not need to be there! One day I will be half the man I use to be!Have a great night!(Sorry a bit of a blabber mouth but can't help myself Ha Ha)

Shasha
06-19-2008, 03:07 PM
{hi} there Pumbza

YES, Dr Cohen says the obesity is an illness, a disease that can be effectively treated!!!

The terrible thing is that if you normally tell someone you have an illness their first reaction is ‘oh shame, I’m so sorry to hear that” and you get their full support. When you tell someone ( normally you don’t need to, but…) when you are overweight the reaction is very different no sympathy bur rather a “simply zip your lip and stop stuffing your face” attitude…

Most overweight people have tried almost everything – many, in desperation even starving themselves in an attempt to get their weight under control. Sometimes trying all sorts of pills, tonic’s, shakes – anything and everything just to try to shed the weight… The problem lies in hormones that are not balanced. To me it’s an absolute miracle to watch how peoples lives are transformed on the program…

The part I love the most is that this change comes from eating healthy FOOD… It’s soooooo simple ~ all you have to do is implement Dr Cohen’s program and, like you said, you’re going to be half the man! But, I’m sure that you will end up being TWICE THE GUY!

About that emotional eating stuff… You’re going to need to find new good healthy habits to fill up the old bad habits. A while ago we were talking about putting a rubber band around your wrist and every time you think old negative destructive thoughts you simply pull and let go of the band… no way you’ll be craving sweets and feeling that pain at the same time!!!

Other less painful tips include: deep breathing if you are feeling very stressed: have 10 deep breaths focusing on relaxing while you do this… Find things you enjoy doing: a new hobbies {violin} – maybe making something – or going for a walk with the dog, reading a good book… :reading: painting your toes – sorry, that’s not going to work!! LOL… you get the idea, anything that keeps your mind, and maybe even your hands busy…

Why don’t you make a list to keep handy so that you can pick things to do when you feel the urge to eat… on your list should of course be running to the Forum and maybe phoning a supportive friend…

Tip: remember, if you don’t have it in the house, you probably will not bother to get into your car to go and buy it… so, having a safe environment is vital and, SAFE SHOPPING is where that starts…

WELL DONE TO BOTH OF YOU: Mr Peel for going from 38” all the way down to a 32” and to you for fitting into an awesome size 31” !!!

I’m thinking we should copy Mr Peel’s HUNK-a-licious photo into the Photo section under a heading ‘Talk about HUNK-a-licious’ but I’m not going to do it without your official OKAY… photo’s are always so inspiring and we don’t want them to get ‘lost’ inside the threads… What do you think? Hi Pumbza,

Yep the first couple days are awful but you will get through this. In a couple weeks you will be so glad you have made the sacrifice now because it gets so much easier and the results are undeniable. You are in for a treat when you hop back on the scale after your first four weeks. Just try to keep all the reasons you are doing this in mind. And decide that deviating is just NOT AN OPTION. {noway}

You can do this. Distract yourself with whatever non-food stuff you enjoy. Rent your favorite movie, go for a relaxing melow walk, read a good book. Take your mind off of the food. Or if you can't, read the forum posts, a whole lot of them! They always help me remember why this is so important.

Also be sure to get plenty of rest. If you're too hungry in the evening go to bed early.:love6:

Although you may feel awful, detoxing from all the stuff we used to put into our bodies:sick:, this will pass and you will have given yourself (and your loved ones) the best gift of all. A happier, healthier, and hunkier(like Mr. Peel) YOU! We all admire your efforts in these first few days, as we all know how hard they can be. Keep it UP!!{bouncing}

Thanks for your encouragement its DIET BUDDIES like you that keep us newbies started and I am going to read as much of the web material as possible it motivates me everytime and I really appreciate it!I have always in the past eaten on emotions and I now realise I did not need that night snack or afternoon bowl of fruit I use to eat a bowl of fruit in between meals so one day I hope to change from a FROG to Prince charming Ha Ha!:love8:(Suppose one can always Dream Ha Ha).I have started drinking Green tea to curb the Hunger Pangs (Sorry forgot who told me my apologies for not naming the person) and it works wonders to fill the holes! When I feel hunger pangs now I tell myself its the FAT being burn't up and its a good Pang and not a Pang that needs to be fufilled for my own GOOD (Oops I am ranting and raving excuse me its the FIRST week Deliruim Ha Ha).:innocent3:

And the longer you're on this diet the less hungry you'll feel Pumbza. Once your hormones are set and your body is working properly you're hardly ever hungry and you do feel a lot better. I'm glad you are liking this forum, that you're participating, and that it is all helping you though. The first few days are the WORST and the first few weeks are a little tough as you're testing that willpower and dedication, but after that, once the fat starts melting away, it's smooth sailing until the end. You just have to stay strong, plan ahead, and stay on this forum!

Isn't it amazing how when I was the size of a house I would wolf down food with out even thinking about it and when the signals got to my brain far to late I would be bloated and not feel nice yet I carried on doing it crazy isn't it!One thing I have learned in 2 days is that I am now chewing my food much more because there is not so much of it and I am enjoying the taste instead of wolfing down copuois amounts of food unecessary and causing my own problems!I also notice that one thinks a lot more about ways to cook the items u have for meals for example I thought I would never have cheese for a meal but I had bought low fat Mozzarela cheese and put some on a half a tomatoe and half a mushroom and put onions and asparagus on the crackers and put garlic and cheese over everything and put it on a oven tray and put it all in the oven with a tray of peeled and pitted apples with cinamin and with Sprite zero for the syrup so main meal and pudding WOW Life surely is good and so quick to prepare and cook meals no more hours in front of the stove???!:innocent4:

That's what we discovered, too!! We spend so much less time preparing and/or deciding on meals, it was like gaining a couple of hours each day! Try my Cheesy Bits Pizza - you will like it, too. I think the recipe is posted in the Recipe threads.

Hi Lori! Multivitamin is a NON-NEGOTIABLE MUST!!!! You are barely eating enough food with this program and you need the added nutrients to maintain your health. It absolutely also helps with not feeling hungry and keeping up your energy. From what I understand Centrum is a good choice. I have been taking the One-A-Day for Women and that has worked well for me. On days where I've exercised and/or been extra tired or hungry I've taken an extra vitamin at lunch and that works wonders too if you need. (Also good for your TOM if needed.)

Mornin' Shasha! Today is my last day and I already feel so free!!! I'm eating my Cohen breakfast and will make a Cohen lunch to take with me. I will go out to dinner tonight, but will order a sensible Cohen dinner out as I've done all along these last few months (after all the food tastes just as good made healthy as it does otherwise). I'll have my Cohen snacks and then tomorrow when I wake up I'll be all done!!! So exciting!!! I've held stead all week at 115 pounds so I guess that's my new "goal" weight and my marker for the future. I can't wait to start working out to tone my new body!

scuse my igorance but what is a Kadu and what do they taste like (is it an antelope type grass eater?, I'll have to go wikipedia it).
I took ginger and peach prawns to work but rather than a stir fry I made a coleslaw type salad. I gulped it down while I wrote my night report so I didn't enjoy it as much as I should, there is nothing for it I will just have to have it again, what a sacrifice, but I'll be strong and do it for the cause {rofl}.

I found this because I was wondering. Don't know if it helps LOL

Kudu steak - fillet
Kudu fillet steaks are a prime tender cut, they are a beautiful dark-red colour and have a fine structure. Kudu meat is a game meat with a distinctive taste. As all game with low fat, it does well when under cooked. Game from South Africa can only be supplied frozen

Sharon,
What a shame! I've been thinking about you today as I went to the store, bought some ginger, and I have been using it every which way possible since, in tea, in water, in marinade for my shrimp--shrimp also your inspiration--I love ginger, just never thought of using it so many ways. My consultant said only 1 tbsp a day of balsamic vinegar, or any vinegar. So I am wathcing that. Having rilled bvegies too--fajita style, and kiwi/mango salad. So beautiful in color and so healthy. I'll enjoy some for you since you missed out today ok???
Blessings,

Hi Pumbza,
Wrote you last night but them it got lost in the ether when I pressed submit, isn't it frustrating when something like that happens{bangdesk}. Thanks for the photos, good to see you in the Sprinboc colours, and I look forward to seeing you shrink, I bet you already look so different from those photos. will have to see what photos I have, there arn't many where I'm not hiding to some extent, I tend to prefer being behind the lense rather than in front of it. I'm a bit snap happy and on a tramping trip I can snap off 200-300 shots in a couple of days, thank goodness for digital.
The Kudu does look so cute, especially with their big ears, but so do our deer, and as for the lambs, thankgoodness they look more like sheep when they go off to the processers. Do you farm Kudu or is it all wild stock? We farm deer here in NZ, alot goes to export and to the resturant trade, we can get it in the supermarket but no where near the quantities that we have beef, lamb or pork. Like Kudu, it is a dark meat, low in fat and best undercooked. but being farmed it has lost that gamey taste.
Mei Mei, so glad you are enjoying the ginger, and your kiwi/mango salad sounds delicious, I would imagine it would look and taste great with fish or chicken, wonder how it would go with venison or kudu. We call kiwi, kiwi fruit, otherwise it just sounds cannabolistic and/ or illegal, :laughing:anyone from NZ is a kiwi, and our most special bird is a kiwi, it is flightless and is endangered. Before man came to NZ they had no predators, so therefore lost their flight wings. The introduced predators found them easy prey, now we have lots of conservation area to protect such teasures, and that is where we go tramping.
All a bit of useless info, have to shoot off and do a bit of work.

Hi Sharon MiMi and Sexymama how are you all doing??Ha Ha!:innocent4:Sharon what I do after messing up on the net a lot is before I post a message I copy it first just incase and when the net crash's I just PASTE the message back in and it saves writing MESSAGE's over and OVER again!!!!I was embarrased after I loaded the PHOTO's in my springbok outfit and was about to delete it and then SEXYMAMA encouraged me to leave them on and then I thought these would be GOOD ONE's to leave for MY BEFORE PHOTO's Oh so GROSS (Definitely Not a OIL PAINTING!!Ha Ha!!!).Sharon we have GAME farm's here which have wild life here and HUNTING is a BIG thing here like in America as well and GAME which use to be a DELECACY is now common because the PRICE of BEEF has GONE up so MUCH and most of these so CALLED HUNTING farms cull a certain GROUP of animals that have become to PLENTLYFUL!!!Love Kiwi FRUIT and the Nation that is GROWING it Ha Ha!!! And I also love mangoes I thing GAME with a SALSA involving some pieces of MANGO could be VERY VERY NICE!!!!Don't WORRY SHARON we like all kinds of INFO so don't bother what YOU write ABOUT!!!Ha Ha MiMi YOUR way to KIND and I have to work on the SIX PACK big TIME it will need many HOURS of GYMMM!!!Ha Ha!!!Yeah cant believe in a week's time on MONDAY I will have completed my SECOND 4 WEEKS thanks to ALL my DIET BUDDIES!!Ha Ha!!I am attaching some pictures which reinforces a saying here in AFRICA and it GOES like this "AFRICA is NOT FOR SISSIES!" Sissies means a Timid PERSON so it emphasise that AFRICA is FOR TOUGH minded PEOPLE if YOU look at the attachement YOU will see WHY I WOULD love to experience SEEING elephants that CLOSE UP and PERSONAL!!!Elephants LOVE ORANGES must be from the DR COHEN DIET Ha Ha and if they smell them they go wild and will do anything to get hold of them that was some useless information and has nothing to do with these photo's but something must of really interested HIM/HER to mess around in the PEOPLE's CAMP!!As you can see camping here is a GREAT past time I am HOPING to go on 12th Nov to 19 Nov to the CHOBE GAME RESERVE I hope to bring back some photos Ha Ha!! Hey PUMBZA

Love the pictures, you look so cute and adorable (even with a few extra pounds) and just as I imagined. I Do love your fan outfit, you'd fit right in here in the States at a football game (just need a bit of the green face paint).

The camping pictures are awesome, I do love reading your's and Sharon's posts about all things Africaan and Kiwi, so very interesting. I bet those campers were P**PING in their pants when that big boy (or girl???) showed up. Gee last summer we packed it up and hightailed it home when a bear walked by our tent while enjoying the evening campfire, cant imagine an elephant inviting itself to the party.

I have a new camera (sorry still trying to figure it out) so I thought Id post a few pictures from my hike at Lake Tahoe last weekend. So here's a few of the meadow we trekked through, some wildflowers, and of course the jewel of the Sierras, Lake Tahoe. Not quite as dramatic as the elephant picture, but hope all will enjoy.

Awesome!
Thanks Pumbza & rbride05!
Just a 3 day starter saying Hi!
Great photos! Sometimes I fly over Lake Tahoe but it doesn't look anything like that from the air! What a great weekend/vacation!
Pumbza.... how crazy is that. Not exactly normal here in the US to have your camp trashed by elephants! Were you there? Can that be somewhat of regular occurence? Crazy thing looking for an orange... Dr. C's plan in action everywhere! :)
If I could figure out my computer/camera I could post some cool pictures from Anchorage and Honolulu this past month. I was there for work.
One question for you... is anyone a cream lover (for coffee)? I'm dying. This morning I was desperate so I put some cinnamon in with the coffee before I brewed it, actually came out pretty good. Any suggestions please send them.
Thanks, for the photos too!

Gorgeous mountain/meadow photos, rbride. It cooled me off a bit--it is 103 here today :( We played put put with all four kids in that heat, not as exotic or lovely as Africa or Tahoe, but we had fun! :)

MeiMei I agree before I thought of the person Like rbride05 as JULIA ROBERTS with no real feeling or IDEA where she lives etc and if one says say ALABAMA its difficult to visualise now if one can see the country and where it is its so much easier!!MeiMei not to be RUDE I thought the Visual thing was a MAN thing MEN love to Visualise Hmmmmm a LADY with MEN traits what a LADY!!!ha Ha!(Just TEASING!!)!rbride05 YOU are to funny and true when YOU see pictures like this YOU can't eat YOUR steak so I don't think of this I seperate the two here I see a Baby Cow and on my plate a PRODUCT a piece of MEAT!!Ha Ha!My Mom wanted a SMALL holding and she struck a deal with me I come out (about 21Km's from TOWN) and life with her the HOUSE is split into TWO kitchen and LOUNGE is communal and we share meals etc otherwise seperate then she will feel safer as we have a bit of a security problem with the UNREST in ZIMBABWE and she will make sure that my cloths and food etc is sorted out and I go to work when I get HOME no normal chores changing bulb's etc!!My Mom is my Patner in OUR business and she is now retired so I run the Business and make sure she does not have to deal with BIG FINANCIAL problems so she enjoy's RETIRED LIFE playing GOLF visiting GRAND CHILDREN and Tinkering around and I do what all SON's should do and WORK!!Ha Ha!That was a long BORING story to get too she wanted two dairy cows for milk and she has a whole lot of geese and chickens roaming wildly around the property and especially at her house and 5 cats Four dogs lots of wild bird's YOU name it its like a circus at home on her side my side no animals come in my HOUSE they JUST POOP on my things and I am not mad about that so they are banned from my section!!!Ha Ha!!!See what happens when YOU ask a simple passing question it will teach YOU!!Ha Ha!!!Have a GREAT DAY!!!

Hi Pumbza well I've done it and managed to get some photos on my thread. A slightly different landscape to yours, hopefully I don't put you to sleep.

By the time you get this you will hopefully have the monitor off, I'm sure all will be well, and you will be reassured. Half of the anxiety we have is that of the unknown, am thinking of you.

I posted a really good recipe in the meat section. Its chicken and stuffing. It is really good you should try it. I have also been having shredded chicken wraps. It's my version of the P F Chang Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

{hi} there Pumbza

I also chase my tale around the Forum… there are soooo many posts these days – which is really great!!! {wave}

I kind of have to pick and choose where to go first… {bouncing}

Must say I just love the support all our Diet Buddies are giving each other – especially the guys like yourself that have already settled down and who know the in's and the out's!! Clearly I cannot be everywhere at once and it is really great to see how everyone is helping each other…

I’ve just made a nice cup of coffee and so am going to enjoy that while catching up on your thread… and giving comments :flirt: of course!!!

Shasha
08-20-2008, 03:31 PM
That was GREAT!!! Both the coffee and the reading!!! Your thread is wonderful - like going on a Game Drive via a sports stadium :flirt:… and ending up at the lake for a break… (thanks to RBride) before coming home to the cows…

About the Pumbza BC photo’s…
I have to ask, what on earth are those horns for??? Do you use them when you hunt for Kudu???

Oh, I get it: {duh} they are there for Springbuck support!!!
(Sorry, but I could not resist that one!!!)

Your photo’s are really lovely – you look so HUGABLE!! So here goes :bighug:
I can’t wait to see your AFTER photo’s!!! How about you posting a couple of interim photo’s???
:flirt: Can I twist your arm??? We would all LOVE to see your progress!!! How is that tummy doing? This is mostly the problem area for men and I’m sure yours is going, going, gone by now?? If not, then pretty much ALMOST!!

The photo’s with the Elephant are fantastic too – had to LOL because I was thinking: “You want to put your tent where???” Rather scary I’d say!! They really know how to make us look small!

About your Baby Picture – “Okay, that does it!! Now I’m officially going to have to adopt you!!!”… then I’m going to put you into my cyberspace time machine!!! You were too cute to ever grow up!!! Don’t you think they should come out with Stay Small pills for them really cute kids??

The photo’s of the little calf are soooo cute too!!! That does it: Now I’m becoming vegetarian!

Where did the map go?? I remember seeing it on your ticker and now it’s gone! Please will you paste this into a post so it can be here… maybe not on every signature, but it was so nice to see with that arrow and all – please do paste it into your thread...

You sure have a heart of gold looking out for your Mom and her other “4 legged / winged children” - she must be soooooo very proud of you for doing so well on your diet!

We all are!!! GREAT THREAD!!! It’s so nice to see how you guys are not even talking about food anymore… well, hardly!! This is just sooo interesting!!! Good job to everyone!!! See you in the threads...

Hi Pumbza,{hi}
Have been thinking about you as I move into my week 8, I've just checked out your ticker and you are just awesome{goodjob}. That is a great achievement, and as for your chest being bigger than your tummy, excellent work you deserve to be proud of yourself. You must be making such a transformation, are we going to recognize you at your target? there is nothing for it, you'll just have to get that new Sprinboc top, its the only way well recognize you. Prolonging life? most definately, visceral weight is the worst, as the fat is sitting around your organs. So your gonna look great, feel great and live longer, can't think of a down side.:party1:
Thinking about the map problem (I agree with Shasha, it was great seeing it) How about put the map on as an attatchment in your next post on your thread, then it will sit by your initial intro with the photos you attach, :thinking:check out the paperclip by your name on the intro page. Don't know if that helps, good idea for us to add ours, will have to pop my locale on.
Hope you are having an excellent day.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather, sound like you need mock kiwi soup (haha),
Will probably be joining you on the sign up for a repeat 12 weeks, I'm sticking like glue to the program but I accept it will take time, but the end result will be so worth while, so it sounds like we will be Cohen thread buddies for some time yet (and that part certainly ain't a hardship). I have been looking at this as a life long commitment one way or another so I suppose its no biggie, a few dollars and self disipline for improved health, you are so right, you gotta look at the big picture.
Am suppose to bring the scales back out at the end of the week, part of me doesn't want to but I suppose I will have to bite the bullet when the time comes, having put them away certainly took alot of pressure off for me.
I just love your new Pumba avitar, look after yourself, rest up and get better soon.

Hello my friend:hii:,
I've been away from the computor for a few days as my brother was visiting and I've been working, poor excuse I know from being away from Cohans but generally only from on line, had a minor indiscretion, we spit roasted a leg of lamb, we had spiked it with rosemary and smoked with manuka wood chips soaked in red wine, oops couldn't resist:devil:, our sheep only eat grass and are very lean :love6:so hope I haven't done too much damage, everything else was totally cohan and now back on track. Went to our local market on the weekend and picked myself up some wild venison, going to cook some up tomorrow night, am so looking forward to it, there are some benefits to being on this program, I have this wonderful excuse to buy these treats. What is your favourite treat at the moment?

I, too, like lamb! I grew up on a farm and we raised sheep. They are a very stupid animal, actually.....but they taste good and provide wonderful wool!! Some of my fondest memories are of sheep-shearing day. The shearers would come and a few extra helpers (friends of my parents) would come to help. We would serve them a very big dinner!! It was always a very special day! My job was usually tying the fleeces up into "bales"...my hands got very well conditioned with lanolin that day!!! The sheep are funny right after they're shorn....especially the first one....she kind of stands off by herself feeling very self-conscious without her wool coat anymore!!! Then when several more join her they start realizing that it's ok to look "naked"!!!:)
A few weeks after shearing, the lambs start to arrive....they are so cute! When they're first born the lambs and their mom are put into a small (4'x4') pen for a few days to let the mom and babies get to know each other and keep them away from the other sheep. Then when they're old enough they are let out with the other new moms and their lambs...still kept separate from the other ewes that haven't lambed yet. While the moms eat at feeders during feeding time, the lambs have what I call "lamb races" where they run around and around in a big circle. The lambs will get going so fast that they'd stiffen their legs up and literally bounce around!! They are so funny!! I always tried to make it down to the barn during "lamb racing" time!!!!
Wow...what a trip down memory lane!
:love6:

Hi PhyllisRis sorry to tickle YOUR taste BUDS but it is a JUICY subject YES where we LIFE meat is CHEAP and a STAPLE DIET but on OUR little bit of meat we are allowed it would TAKE us YEARS to finish a LEG of lamb we use to have that on a SUNDAY for the FAMILY !!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:But its one of the meats I will definitely eat once on refeed its a LITTLE fatty but tasty I hope I did not mess UP your LUNCH remember NOT HUNGER PANGS but FAT BURNING PAINS!!Ha Ha!Just something I have found of interest:-
Fat Cellls are IMMORTAL!
When you lose weight, the amount of fat stored in the cells is reduced, but the cells themselves stay there, waiting for more storable fat to come along. They do collapse a little, but there's no escaping the fact that theyre still there.
Alas, losing weight won't get rid of fat cells, but gaining weight will actually cause your body to make more. That's because each cell can hold only so much fat. If all the existing fat cells are filled to capacity, your body will simply manufacture new ones to cope with the excess.

VERY VERY intresting (If TRUE?) that explains why FAT people like me battle to lose weight as the fat cells sits there and weights for fat so all our life we must be careful we don't put on weight and its much easier for US!!!Have a GREAT FAT LOSS DAY!!!:innocent3:

a little burger

{hi} there Pumbza

Must say I found this information extremely interesting and I have heard the same thing before:

Fat Cellls are IMMORTAL!
When you lose weight, the amount of fat stored in the cells is reduced, but the cells themselves stay there, waiting for more storable fat to come along. They do collapse a little, but there's no escaping the fact that theyre still there.
Alas, losing weight won't get rid of fat cells, but gaining weight will actually cause your body to make more. That's because each cell can hold only so much fat. If all the existing fat cells are filled to capacity, your body will simply manufacture new ones to cope with the excess.

The thing that I wanted to add was that in the light of the above, it kinda makes one realize WHY you need to focus on maintaining a healthy goal weight and not YO YO up and down because it will actually make your body more prone to storing fat…

The fight to stay healthy can become harder and harder the more fat cells your body makes...

Hi there all DIET buddies and Shasha hope You all are well!!Shasha here is something with my sneak peak at Saturated fat after the refeed etc!!
It goes as Follows:-
Have you ever wondered why people tend to eat fried onions with a piece of steak? The answer is that the onions cut through the fat in more ways than one. A teaspoon of cooked onion prevents the tendency of blood to clot after a fatty meal and improves the body's clot-dissolving ability at the same time. Those who like raw salad vegtables may be interested to know that just half a strong raw onion each day is usually enough to increase HDL-cholesterol by up to 30 per cent in about three-quarters of heart patients. So, if you do want to cheat a little with the saturated fat, include at least 10g of onion. Diabetics in particular should include plenty of onions in their diet as they contain natural blood-sugar-lowering agents.

My little info for the day!!!Yeah sexymama I see you have been all over the FORUM motivating and enjoying YOURSELF we know YOU CAN DO IT thanks for YOUR kind words indeed I can only carry on with ALL MY DIET BUDDIES HELP!!!Shahsa I loved the The Mary had a Little Lamb....... (It was GREAT I loved it!!!Ha Ha)Yeah UNFORTUNATELY I have loads and LOADS of FAT CELLS so I will have to be vary vary aware of this and weigh and watch what I eat OTHERWISE I may just become a PORK CHOP AGAIN!!!Ha Ha!:innocent4:Have a FAT FREE DAY!!!:innocent3:

Hi Pumbza,
Your not allowed to be a pork chop, they arn't allowed on the Cohen's program, You have to be a Kudu, lean and fast.
Scary about those fat cells though, I suppose the only way to drop a few would be liposuction, but I'm too much of a chicken to do that to myself.

pumbza
09-29-2008, 01:47 PM

Yeah, I've seen on TV how they do it, looks barbaric.
I'm still workin :weights: , and sticking to the Cohen's, except for one curry in Christchurch with my brother:quiet: a little dietry fling before I signed up again, didn't :pig: out though, was very restrained, this program is too important to get carried away, I have been asked to repeat my bloods again, will wait a good 2 weeks before I do that, so my indiscretion doesn't impact on my results.
Have a good day my Kudu friend.

{hi} there Pumbie

Did you get a check list on your blood test results saying Dr Cohen was satisfied? But please check in any case to make sure you are not making any mistakes?

I’m thinking that buy now, your body is doing some serious fat burning and it can be that these waste products from old fat are showing up in your results…

Continue as you have been – run to the finish line! {wave} you can do it!!

Sharon

Shasha, You can certainly say thay about our good friend Pumbza, his results are just awesome. {king} Imagine if he was loosing all this and his bloods were not right.

Hi Shasha & Sharon Hope You all are fine Shasha this is what I got from MY consultant You may see why I am a little confused but not to Phased by it anyway!!!

Please be advised that Dr. Cohen was satisfied with your blood test results, however, he suggested that you use the attached checklist in order to ensure that you take the program correctly.

Regards,

The Consultants Team

CHECK LIST
===========
Are you following the Eating Plan 100%? ? If you are deviating at all, even if it does not seem that dramatic to you, you will not trigger the growth hormone, and you will not experience the energy boost triggered by the growth hormone. You cannot have more or less than what is allowed on the eating plan.

If not:

Do you have an accurate food scale that clearly indicates 5-gram intervals? On this Eating Plan every gram counts! Be sure to weigh accurately.

Are you weighing all your food raw, and avoiding processed, pre-cooked, battered and crumbed food?

Are you having only the specific protein and vegetables as indicated on your list? Never assume that anything is equivalent in value to replace a food type, as we are working with very specific food (and chemical content).

Are you having your full two litres of water?

Do you ever have more than two Crackers together in one serving? This will register in your body as a starch and show up as a deviation.

Do you ever skip a meal, or have less than your indicated quantity on the
Eating Plan? Skipping a meal or having less than your allowance will register in your body as a deviation, as you will not trigger the growth hormone fully.

Have you been taking any new medication or treatment? Certain medications, such as cough mixtures and throat lozenges, can contain sugar and alcohol, which will interfere with the Eating Plan.

Have you had to attend a function, eat at a restaurant or at friends? Even a once-off deviation can impact on your repeat blood test result.

Are you using herbs and spices? Which ones? Ensure that there is no starch, MSG added.

Are you taking any homeopathic remedies? These are often in an alcohol base- sometimes as high as 30% alcohol.

Are you using any fruit that is not specifically mentioned by name on the eating plan, or dried fruit, or fruit juice, or more than your allowance of fruit? Fruit is not a "safe" cheat, because of sugar level.

Are you using lemon-juice as a flavoring in your drinks or food (over and above your fruit allowance)? It is essential to count lemon as part of your fruit allowance; otherwise your sugar intake will be too high.

Are you using unflavored yogurt? Flavored yogurt, even if it says "Eating Plan" or "no sugar added" is a deviation.

Are you using flavored Tea? Flavored teas such as Berry, Apple and Cinnamon, etc are a deviation.

Are you using flavored gum, or flavored Cracker bread? No flavoring must be added to any of your food.

Can you think of anything you have had while on the Eating Plan, that is not specifically mentioned by name in the eating plan.

Oh I'm really confused, I thought we were allowed 5 pieces of sugar free gum a day... I've been chewing at least 2!

Yea, I have had the same sent to be, must be bog standard. Must admit initially got my nickers in a knot when I first read it cos I didn't think I was doing so bad, plus they hadn't explained the blood results to me just sent me the list (they explain now).
And the gum, I've been chewing it LilNightShift, I thought it was ok as long as not fruit flavoured and was sugar free?????
I'M CONFUSED
Just when you think you got it right something else comes up to bite you where your mum's cat shouldn't be. (yesterdays post Kiwi newbie)
The Cohen's group need to post something on our personal site that explains all the nitty gritty, so we can avoid these pitfalls that can potentially sabotage us.

{hi} there Pumbie

I’m not worried about the Check List – this is only a TOOL to help you to identify and eliminate mistakes if there is room for improvement… What comes before the Check List is what is important - this shows your results OK, Borderline OK, Borderline Deviate or Deviate... - sometimes Dr Cohen changes something or gives extra instructions.

The words:
Please be advised that Dr. Cohen was satisfied with your blood test results, however, he suggested that you use the attached checklist in order to ensure that you take the program correctly.

Means that your blood test results came back on the borderline of okay… they were okay – Dr Cohen was SATISFIED, but there was a bit of room for improvement. I really believe this is because you’ve lost so much so fast and the toxins from old fat is being released as it is being burned up and flushed out.

In your case, I’d check to be double sure (no harm in that) and then simply go on with your diet… Borderline okay results are not the same as deviating…

{hi} there Ladies

Are you using flavored gum? {bubblegum} - this question refers to FRUIT flavored gum ie: strawberry etc.

While being on the program you are allowed to have up to 5 pieces per day of mint flavored sugar free gum, {bubblegum} but you are not allowed any fruit flavoring. Same with your tea’s remember: herb teas are fine, but fruit flavoring in tea’s is not allowed… mint / chamomile = yes, apple or mango = no

Flavoring is not allowed so no onion and cheese crackers…

When in doubt ask your consultant. You can do a search on the Forum regarding certain topic's as well... {bubblegum}
