WOW Maresco!!! You are off to an incredible start. Yes - 1PD will use the start weight you gave them unless you ask them to change it since you lost a little before officially starting. You must feel so good and so proud of yourself!!! I'm so happy you have found this diet and this forum. Keep sharing as your pounds melt away!

{hi} there Macresco
{congrats} I'm so proud of you for loosing 11.1 pounds so far!!! :clapping3:
WELL DONE!!!
I recommend you use your starting weight as per the weight you were when registering for the program ie: 267.0 pounds - I think it is wonderful that you actually started eating healthier and lost 4 pounds just from this before even starting.
What I believe you want to do is monitor your WHOLE PROGRESS ie: where did you come from and where are you now? And, you progress so far is both wonderful and very encouraging!
Please keep up the {goodjob}!!!

Well, I emailed my consultants and they decided to change my official start weight to 263.0. So I did really lose that weight, but it doesn't count toward my total loss On-Plan. Makes sense...I'll change my ticker.
The seven year old inside me is whining..."no fair, I want bigger numbers!" Ah, well. Thank god I'm not 7.

I actually am similar in that I started eating healthy and lost 4.4 pounds before starting 1PD. My highest weight on January 2nd was 167.8. Now I'm at 118.6!!! My 1PD start weight was 163.4. I always tell people my total weight loss, not just from 1PD. I certainly do give 1PD all the credit though... I couldn't have done this without having found this program.

{hi} there Macresco
I’m not sure if this is what you wrote to me about in the PM, if it is, this is 100% fine!! Give your consultant your actual weight as it was when starting on your diet, because this is what she asked for but, DON’T YOU DARE CHANGE YOUR TICKER ON THE FORUM from 167 to 163 pounds!!!
Lots of times Diet Buddies can experience a major loss in their first week, as you’ve already began slimming down, I believe this should count in the bigger picture of things...
On the Forum none of us are really too worried about little things like weighing a day too soon or too late – what we really want to see is the BIG PICTURE OR YOUR RESULTS, which is looking really great sooooo far!!! {cheerleader} you keep going girl!!! {wave} But remember not to get frustrated when the plateaus that must come do come…

{hi} there Macresco
Well, that’s really GREAT GOING!!! 16.3 IS FANTASTIC {congrats}…
I know you are probably not going to follow this advise, but I would like to draw your attention to your New Customer Guide, pages 10 and 11 where Dr Cohen suggests the following points:
Only weigh once a month, and note the difference in clothes size.
The body does go through stages during the weight loss where is might seem as if you are not losing actual weight (on the scale), but note the drop in clothes size!
Remember that you are still breaking down fat during these “plateau” periods, but the growth hormone is dissolving the fat in the water so you will weigh water when you get on the scale, and you’ll notice that you are not running to the rest room as often in this period!
If you weigh only once a month, you will focus on the total loss for the month, and the small plateaus in between will not de-motivate you!!!!!
So, if you are weighing more than once a month, you need to remind yourself of the above fact OFTEN: ie: DURING THE PLATEAUS WHEN I DON’T SEE A DROP ON THE SCALE I AM STILL BREAKING DOWN FAT!!!
Of course this will result in your needing a double dose of patience as well… remember, you did not gain all the excess weight overnight and it will take some time to get rid of it… but, you’re doing a REALLY {goodjob} so PLEASE KEEP IT UP! {cheerleader}

Thanks for the reminder, Shasha. I know I need to stay off the scale. I had a super-tough weekend, temptation-wise (lots of parties) and I was 100% on-plan anyway, and yesterday I woke up on "the wrong side of the bed" and needed a pick-me-up. I'm pretty rock-solid in my being 100% on-plan. I just don't see a reason to deviate. Ups and downs on the scale just make me want to come HERE and read about other people's successes!
And today was really just a habit...stepped on the scale on my way to the shower...maybe I should move it to another location!
I think I need to make a big sticker for my scale that says: GET OFF ME!!!! :innocent4:

you are doing an amazing job!
if you are 100% OP, there is NO reason to weigh...
i find it very freeing NOT to weigh & know that i am losing...
for me the flawed relationship with food, my body & the scale go hand in hand-
so, i need to change it all up.
be well-

{hi}there Macresco
Well done on reaching your first goal!!! :applause:
I really like the way you’ve broken your goals up into smaller bite size chunks!!! Do you have any special rewards planned yet?
I'm thinking that you could do with a little lift me up round about now... Especially after being so very good this weekend!!! If you had no reward planned, how about getting a little something that will indulge your olfactory senses??
I really enjoy my ME TIME in the bath… {shower} and have all sorts of lovely crystals, bath foam’s and bath crème’s just because I really enjoy using them… I found that fragrance has a really profound effect on my moods… lavender is really relaxing and harmonizing, grapefruit is fantastic for the morning, uplifting, reviving, refreshing… Rose is very romantic, but also very, very mood UPLIFTING…
Having these lovely products can make you feel like you are really indulging, without doing anything illegal!! {shower}
PS: I’m going to have to look into printing those SCALE STICKERS wholesale!!!

{hi}there Bitten
You are definitely not alone in this struggle! There are very good reasons why Dr Cohen says not to weigh more than once a month and many of those reasons are regarding what goes on in most Diet Buddies’s minds…
It’s good to know that you are taking Dr Cohen’s expert advise 100%!!! Besides, there will be plenty of time to weigh yourself during and after the Re-feeding Program… for now all you need to focus on is eating right! And, I’m very proud of the {goodjob} that you are doing!
When last did you drop 34.5 pounds???? {wave} So, you can most certainly pat that Bitten Babe on the back from all of us! You are doing really GREAT! {bighug}

06-17-2008, 12:21 PM
Hey Bitten! Thanks for the support, chica! And right back at ya!
Shasha - I do have rewards planned, but I do them in a different way...one that discourages deviating AND rewards me for my losses. Each week (and every day) my goal is simple - stay 100%OP - at the end of each week, if I have been 100% OP, I buy myself flowers. I do have special rewards for the "major goals"...this one is a pedicure BUT I can only "redeem" my reward if I was 100% OP for the previous week. So..if I ever deviate and reach a major goal in the same week I don't get that reward...and they only get better from here!! My next reward is a facial, and there's a new handbag, new piece of art and spa day in there too - would NEVER want to NOT get those because of a stupid deliberate deviation.

I LOVE IT!
I LOVE IT!!
I LOVE IT!!!
I really love the way you have set your goals & rewards - this is so exciting! Really SMART!
You get to enjoy flowers every week so you can soak up their beauty… and your reward schedule of losing out if you dare deviate is terrific – because it so clearly re-enforces the thought that if you were to deviate, you would truly be the one losing out!!!
That’s really smart and WELL DONE!
Here’s a little something for you from me:

Thanks for the compliments! I know myself well - espcially my devious tendencies when it comes to diets. I knew that if I didn't give myself incentive not to deviate, I might find little ways to deviate and still be able to make my goals. I'm glad I've finally grown up! You're right that deviations only hurt myself in the long run...this is one thing I don't get when people say they have a "rebellious nature". You're rebelling against your best outome...why? Well, maybe I do know after all...self sabotage is a very slippery slimy eel.
PS: My toesies look SO good! Bring on the facial!!!

After my four weeks, I hit a plateau and therefore didn't weigh much, as it was driving me crazy. Happy ending though... during the week of my plateau I lost an incredible 7 inches (6 places measured). I'm finally off my plateau, but I learned a lesson...the rules are what they are for a reason...I really shouldn't weigh as often as I do and they're RIGHT when they say that your body is still changing even though the scale isn't moving.

{hi} there Macresco
:bighug: I've missed you!!! :bighug:
YEP, I have honestly found that Dr Cohen always does know what is best… ALL those rules are there for a reason or for various reasons...
I think your body need that ‘standing still’ on the scale so that it could take the time it needs to SHRINK and catch up with the weight loss!!!
Always remember that no matter what the scale says, if you are following your eating plan 100%, your body will be burning fat - even while you sleep!!!
It's just going to happen at a rate your body determines, and the best you can do to help is to simply follow your eating plan 100%.
Please do keep up the {goodjob} it's always so nice to hear from you!
