Hello! I've been on 1PD for 4 weeks and was having great success until traveling for a wedding this past weekend. I had a tremendous backslide and now am facing losing the same 5 lbs I lost last week! How do people stay on track when they travel?? Should I wait until I am back on plan for a couple of weeks until I order my second blood test? I am really worried that once I reach my goal (because I'm determined to) that I will regain the weight quickly...

Regards, CBW.

CBW, if you search the threads for topics such as "travel", "vacation", and "restaurants". you should find many posts dealing with how some of us handle eating on the road. The main factor is to remember to take your discipline with you! Restaurants are only too happy to accommodate a strict diet, if you call ahead or discuss your needs with your server. Avoiding alcoholic beverages is easier if you have a diet soda while others indulge. Also, bring your digital scale with you, and make sure to shop as soon as you reach your travel destination. Many hotels will provide a small fridge in the room as well, especially if you let them know you are on a doctor-prescribed diet plan. HTH!

{hi} there CBW

A very WARM WELCOME TO YOU! :bighug: and well done on getting 1/3 of the way to your goal!!!

Sorry to hear about the SLIP UP... Please go to the Support Section and find my thread: HAVE YOU FALLEN OFF THE BUS...

About them travel tips ~ yes, please do the search as Mrs Peel recommended and I just love that advise: The main factor is to remember to take your discipline with you!... :clapping3: (10 out of 10 for that one Mrs Peel!)

Here are some tips from my side:

Your personal diet program is made out of the precise food items and weights you need to take. When travelling or eating out etc, the best would be to have a kitchen in which you can prepare your food just like at home. Unfortunately, this is not always practical and you may need to eat the available foods en-route. Therefore, a setback of your diet is unavoidable but you can try and minimize the setback by eating smart.

Try to find food items that are allowed on your diet (plain yogurt, hardboiled egg, vegetables, canned tuna and the likes). Eating these foods – even with no scale to weigh the foods – is better than eating a sandwich or a hamburger.

Eating out while you on a personal diet program where all your food intake is calculated carefully, might be a challenge. Some brave customers take their kitchen scale with them to the restaurant and order just a green salad. Others go out but just drink coffee / water. Eating out while on the program will set your progress back and we strongly recommend trying and avoiding this. If you have to go, just order a small green salad with a low-fat dressing on the side. This will help in having a smaller setback.

Hopefully, by eating smart the setback will not be as bad - some clients even report loosing weight while being away and following these guidelines, so here's wishing you much success on your weight loss, even when you are on holidays!

YOU CAN DO IT! {cheerleader}

When you get to goal it is vital that you do the Re-feeding Program so that you can train your body to cope with more foods gradually and so that you can learn to form healthy eating patterns - by doing these properly you should not gain weight again and this should be the last time that you are on Diet... I wish you much success and look forward to seeing your progress...

Hi CBW.

So sorry to hear that you had such a deviation, but now you see how your body responds to the wrong foods. Glad you are back on track and just chalk this up to a learning experience. See? It is so NOT WORTH IT to cheat or deviate. You work so hard on this diet and it works best when you stick to plan 100%. There are many threads in this forum, as outlined above, re: tips on traveling and it can be done. I've had several trips away and never deviated (except maybe not weighing portions at a restaurant, etc.) and never gained weight back from a trip. Main thing is to take that food scale with you and make as many of your own meals as you can. Most hotels have refrigerators and/or microwaves and most restaurants are very accomodating. Good luck and keep us posted!

You know, that didn't hit me until I read your note - the more I deviated from the diet, the worse it got! My body reacted to the junk I was eating (and drinking) and it was a downward spiral. Its a good reminder that it is not only a diet but a lifestyle change!

{hi} there CBW

YES indeed - A new LIFESTYLE {wave} which needs to be learned by practicing it and if you do have a slip, simply get up and move on... Determine to do better and to reach your goal!
