Hi Everyone = first week, and first post
:hiding: {uhm}
Am painfully shy but wanted to say “hi”, and tell y’all how much I’ve enjoyed reading your posts. Everyone is so encouraging and supportive!

A bit about how I got here:
I’ve tried everything these last few years to lose weight… - all the big names, little names, starving myself, eating only one food group, eliminating only one food group, unique combinations of food groups, exercise, no exercise, liquid diets, shakes, drugs (prescriptions), pills, shots, you name it, I’ve done it all – seemed like nothing was working anymore… I was getting pretty despondent, to say the least.

I pretty much felt doomed to failure, and decided to give up when I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in several months – OMG! It was like looking at ½ of her! Unbelievable! She looked absolutely fantastic! Just Incredible – She’d lost over 70 pounds! Of course I asked how she did it! She told me it was an internet diet, based on hormones, and you got to eat “regular” foods… WOW!! (Not sure why she didn’t share the correct website – maybe a wee bit of competition between us? LOL!)

Took several days of playing Sherlock Holmes to find it – it was actually my DH who found the correct website. When he showed it to me – I practically knocked him off his chair to get into the site - I couldn’t type fast enough to sign up!

Then the waiting game began… Painfully long waiting game… It took 4 days to get my blood test request, had to wait another day to take the test because I’d eaten by the time the email arrived, then more five days to get the results, and another 5 days to get the diet info. Seemed like YEARS! LOL! I was in agony waiting to get started! So impatient, like a child before his birthday… counting the days before I could open “my very special present”!

Read through the material quickly YIKES! Seemed like the food allotment for one day was what I’d eat in a normal meal! I was going to starve to death! Nevertheless, I made a quick run to the grocery store, and could hardly sleep waiting for morning to start my new diet that I KNOW is going to work!

Amazingly enough I’ve survived my first week. (Didn’t starve to death LOL!) And thanks to the forum, I’m learning new combinations of food for my meals. Have to admit, I made a few mistakes this week, stumbled a couple of times, and I’ve got to get the timing between meals down, but I know it will all come together, shortly, especially since I found the forum! (Help!) I’m panicking a little bit that my days will expire before I lose all the weight. 41 pounds may not sound like much to anyone else but it’s a lot when you’re hovering around 5’ tall and the weight is held on with superglue!

Thanks for letting me stop in and introduce myself. This week I’ve been silently cheering all of you on, and will be (hopefully) posting a few times a month or so.

{hi} there Bev

A very WARM WELCOME TO YOU! {bighug}

I'm so glad you've taken the time to share your journey so far ~I really loved reading your post and think that you have a wonderful natural entertaining writing style - so I for one do hope to read lots more from you and that you won't be hiding your wonderful writing talents away... but, there is no pressure, only friendly supportive chit chat on the Forum...

I'm convinced you've come to the right place {cheerleader} and I believe that you can make this the last diet that you ever need to do!

Double check yourself with your New Customer Guide a couple of times, especially in the beginning to make sure that you are following all those rules 100% and that you don't do anything that can slow your progress down.

Always remember that you are unique and your return to health and wellness will also be a unique journey so please don't ever compare your progress with that of anyone else, except maybe your former progress on other program's to see how well you've done...

If you struggle with the 5 hour rule, I recommend setting your cell phone to remind you when to eat - remember the 5 hours is minimum time, it can be 5 1/2 or six hours between meals.

We all look forward to seeing your progress after you have been on diet for 4 weeks... KEEP STRONG and HAPPY & SUCCESSFUL SLIMMING!!! {wave}

Hi Bev! Welcome aboard! I agree with Shasha that you have a very entertaining writing style and I enjoyed reading about the beginning of your journey. It brought back the memory of my starting - the anticipation and the excitement! It has been a wonderful journey, daunting sometimes, but mostly just amazing because it works! Congrats on finding 1PD. I will also look forward to hearing about your progress and to lending support if/when needed.

Thanks for the warm welcome, AmyLynn, bitten, Bronwyn, and Shasha!

Tonight, I was thinking about ALL the weight everyone has lost on 1PD and wondering if it's ever been tallied? What a great accomplishment!

Not even to mention the wonderful side benefits of this great diet ~ Do you realize we’re actually doing our part to save the planet ~ think about it! No packaging material from pre-processed foods, so less waste for the dump, using less power - less food in the freezer, not to mention all the energy used in making the pre-packaged highly processed foods.

And one more benefit that I’m finding around my house is…. err…. hm… how can I put this delicately…? By eating more natural foods I find we’re producing less “noxious greenhouse gases”! Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me? Ah, no need to answer…

Shasha, I actually made it five hours between meals today. Thanks for the idea about setting my alarm on my cell phone – of course, I’ll have to turn up the volume louder than the 2- Hour AUTOMATIC alarm I’ve used for years for when it’s time to eat again - it’s my stomach… ugh!! The noise that thing makes could compete with a 100db fire alarm! It’s so loud when I’m around other people, THEY apologize for their stomach noise!

I’m going to assume that it’s ok for a fruit break around then? I think (hope) I’ve found a way to silence that automatic 2-hour alarm - shove some fruit in the speaker (my mouth). Please tell me it’s ok to have fruit in between meals. :praying: Otherwise, I’ll have to get some earplugs to wear between the feeding frenzy at breakfast, lunch and dinner... :munchies:

Y’all have a WONDER-ful day!
~Bev

Bev you have me laughing out loud!!! You are a hoot and I'm so glad you're joining in on this forum.

Yes - you can have fruit in between meals and your crackers too. Especially in the beginning that helped me so much. I ate my first meal, after about 1 1/2 to 2 hours I had my first fruit, after another hour or so I had my first crackers, then on to the next meal and so on. Some people cook their meals using thier fruit or cracker allowances, but I like to have mine as snacks because then I never get too hungry waiting for the next meal. Just remember to never exceed your allotted amount of fruit/crackers and I believe the rule is to wait 2 hours in between crackers and at least 1 hour in between fruits. Plus, the longer you're on the plan and as your hormones, etc. even out I think you'll find that you're less hungry too. At least that's what I found. I'm hardly ever hungry on this diet.

Also - a big, huge YES to your question above!! A lot less waste and a lot less gas!! Ha ha ha!! It's a lot more pleasant around the house, yes? Not to mention I feel a lot more lady-like.

I love your ideas about helping the environment because of being on this plan. You are absolutely right and every little bit helps.

Hi Bev!

I enjoy your posts too! I totally agree on the greenhouse gases! It took me a few days to notice that but the difference is remarkable.

I'm still struggling with the timing (mostly because I eat when it's convenient) and getting the water down. I get pretty close though. I'm finishing my first 4 weeks tomorrow and I haven't cheated once. When you see the results you decide it isn't worth it.

Good luck with your journey! You have a great sense of humor and I'm sure you'll have awesome results.

{hi} there Bev

You had me {rofl} LOL with your post and I really love your list of motivational reasons for doing and staying on the 1st Personal Diet Program... normally it's the usual wanting to be healthy and well again, having clothes fit, health reasons etc, but your environmentally friendly list is truly original - I'm sure our Diet Buddies are enjoying it! {rofl}

YES, you may have fruit and crackers between meals, just like Bronwyn said. I recommend spacing them out ie: some in the morning, some in the afternoon and some in the evening. If you have 5 cracker portions it would mean two during the morning, two during the afternoon and one in the evening just to give you an example. Fruit can be one in the morning, one in the afternoon or one in the afternoon, one in the evening - just to give you an idea.

I'm glad the cell phone alarm is working and soon I believe your other alarm will become quieter - it takes about a week or so for hormones to balance and following this you should be fine between meals...
Happy and successful slimming!!!{cheerleader}
