View Full Version : The Fat Frontier

MrsPeel
05-22-2008, 10:34 AM
My official 20-week weigh-in was 183 pounds! My loss has definitely slowed down as I get closer to goal - this last 4-week period was the least loss I've had to date. But on previous diets, 183 was the lowest I ever got, so from now on it's the Fat Frontier! The consultants said now that I'm into the oldest, hardest fat I put on, it will naturally go slower. SO . . . I may have to re-up for Round 3, because I don't think I'll reach re-feed in the next 4 weeks. But I'm staying on track - and I've got my eye on some sweet clothes for the 150 pound me! :hypnotic:

WooooHoooo Mrs. Peel!!! That is so wonderful - 183!!! I remember when you broke the 200 pound barrier (felt the earthquake) and looking back that doesn't seem like so very long ago. You are truly an inspiration. You always seem so calm, cool, and collected about this process. You may have to reup for a 3rd, but it certainly won't take you the whole time to lose the rest. Best of luck in this new frontier!!! We definitely need to have a celebration party when we're both done with this thing.

BTW - How is Mr. Peel doing? I thought of him the other day and realized we haven't heard a progress report for a while.

you are moving in that new direction....down. you are such a BIG LOSER! LOL.
i really look to you, as we have similar amount to lose. i am thrilled at your success.
i too was hoping to get to goal in 24 weeks, but if it takes a bit more, it is still an incredible and rapid loss.

you are an inspiration and wonderful support leader!

{hi} there Mrs Peel

{congrats} on reaching 183 pounds that is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME :clapping3:

Question if I may ask: "when last did you weight in at 183 pounds??"

Yes, the 'old fat' is the hardest to lose... I think that's because by then your body and your fat have been friends for a long time and simply don't want to part... LOL...{cheerleader} But I've no doubt as to who is going to win this battle with the buldge because Mrs Peel just keeps peeling away them pounds!!! WELL DONE!!!

Hi, Shasha!

Thanks for the hurrahs! I last weighed 183 in 2003 or 2004 - then I slo-o-o-wly began to put weight back on as I cruised into menopause. But the "old pounds" I am running into now have been on my bod since about ten years before that!

I AM DETERMINED TO MAKE MY GOAL!!!!!!

All of you are doing SO well!!! I know that as I got to "old fat" (you know, the kind which you'd first "met" in the 80s!) it took longer to come off...so the WEIGHT didn't change much. Boy, did my SIZE change, though! It was incredible to lose four or five inches off my hips and thigs and not really lose much weight -- a pound or two. Keep going!!! It's SO worth it!

Poetically Yours -- You are going SO fast! That's AMAZING progress!
And Mrs. Peel -- I can't WAIT for you to show us pictures of the gorgeous YOU! :-) Love, Gail

I love your advice and support! Keep us posted...I am thinking of you as you are moving forward! And one of the best goals is that you are now taking off the old fat! That means you have never gotten this far! Imagine...Take care of you!

My dear 1PD friends, thank you all for your encouraging comments & your continued support! It means so much to have your recognition of each hard-won step, and your confidence in me reaching my target weight. :love4::love4::love4:

MrPeel and I have never seen each other at our current weights - it is such fun to have our slender selves revealed! He is less than 10 lbs. from his goal, so he will be requesting his re-feeding shortly - I, on the other hand, will most likely have to re-up for a third session, as I am losing only about 2 pounds per week at this point. But I am so thrilled with my emerging shape and the absence of so many obesity-related complaints!

And Gail, I promise to post pictures soon - I will overcome my photo-shyness!

Congrats to Mr. Peel too! He must be getting excited to be so close to the end! Wow, you guys are so sweet! We can't believe you are all so interested in seeing the Before & After Peels! Okay, we are going to get something together shortly. MrPeel is a few short pounds from his refeed request, and I will have to re-up once again for my last spurt of weight loss.
MrPeel had an out-of-town business meeting last week, and needed to spiff up a bit, so a couple nights before he left he was laying out his clothes for the trip. He put on his nice slacks and sports jacket and I nearly died laughing - he looked like a little kid in Dad's clothing! We dashed out to the tailor the next day, and he was able to alter the slacks quite nicely, but the jacket . . . he pinned and pulled and wrestled with it and was unable to alter it enough to fit the new MrPeel! So - a new jacket was bought. He looks mighty fine in his fancy duds!

As for me, I put on my favorite size 31 waist Gap cargo shorts this week! From a 40 waist to a 31 - thank YOU, Dr. Cohen! :)

Shasha, I can only verify my weight at certain times - I was never a scale-hopper.
I had an appendectomy in 1991 and when I went in to the hospital, I weighed 165 and came out 155 (big appendix! ;-)

Shasha, if you're reading this: I sent in my new blood test for the beginning of my third 12-week session, and I got the standard reply from the consultants - Dr. Cohen reviewed the results and wants me to read the checklist again. !!!

I have not deviated at all, with the exception of the few times I have been caught out at a restaurant and had to estimate serving size. I assume I just keep on keeping on, right? I wish they'd tell me if one of the test values was out of line, or what I could to do to correct something!

Oh, well - done whingeing. Back to plan! :)

Shasha
07-09-2008, 11:06 AM
{hi} there Mrs Peel & Buddies

I’m here with a :bighug: cos that’s about all I’ve got…

Bitten: Dr Cohen certainly cannot tell what you’ve been eating. What he can tell is that your body is producing the correct amount or less of the fat burning hormone than what he ideally wants or expects if you were following your eating plan 100%. He knows where you were ie: your initial blood test results, he then gives you an eating plan to fix things ie: your diet, he then expects certain results in your follow up blood tests and if the results are out, something is wrong…

Dr Cohen compares your blood test results to your previous blood tests and to his research data and formula – from this, certain functions must change in certain ways – I don’t know what those changes should be, I believe they will be different for everyone, but Dr Cohen does know and your results will either come back as okay, border-line okay, border-line deviating or deviating depending on how your results vary from where he expected them to be.

Dr Cohen cannot tell specifically what mistakes / deviations you made ie: he cannot say you ate 50 grams of chocolate cookies last week on Tuesday at 10 am and this put your results out. He can simply see that something is slowing your progress down to a certain degree.

Mrs Peel, I believe Dr Cohen has picked up a ‘deviation’ because as you said, you know you’ve had to eat out. But you also know that you did the best food choices that you could, but that your food may not have been weight 100% etc. Believe it or not, not weighing your foods slow your progress down and (we know that) it will show up in your results as a ‘deviation’. Taking medication slows your progress down, not drinking water etc does the same. The point of the Check List is for you to identify possible mistakes and to eliminate them as much as possible from your eating plan.

Sorry to say, but I think it’s actually quiet cool – you know that you had a little {oops} in eating out and now you know that Dr Cohen knows too!

This makes him super clever in my book.

Dr Cohen uses these results for feedback and monitoring and also later to compile your Re-feeding Program… the fact that he knows small mistakes were made means simply that your Re-feeding Program is going to be adjusted according to WHATEVER it is he sees… We may never have all the answers we want… but at least we know the program works and that Dr Cohen is up to date on HOW you are doing!!!

Your consultant won’t know how to read your blood test results – she’s not a doctor and, your doctor won’t know what Dr Cohen is looking at either… those are in my humble opinion called trade secrets and I think only Dr Cohen knows how to do the correct calculation… it is after all known as Dr Cohen’s 1st Personal Diet Program.

Who can tell me how your PC and my PC connect? I mean exactly?
Or, someone please explain the mystery of my mobile phone to me… I mean, it’s a miracle that I can hear my Mother’s voice on the other end and it's sounding just like her! I don’t know HOW this works, I will never know HOW this works, but… IT WORKS!... a beautiful mystery to me...

HAPPY SLIMMING AND YOU CAN KNOW THAT DR COHEN IS WATCHING YOU!!! :hiding:

MrsPeel
07-09-2008, 11:37 AM
Thanks, Shasha - I will take it on faith, as you suggest. It is just confusing as my blood test results were so good! I received this reply from my consultants this morning, in answer to my question:

"As you progress towards your goal weight and the older fat is being dissolved, chances are that the impurities in the fat may show up as a deviation in a future blood test.

Dr. Cohen does not advise any changes in your diet plan for now, but the checklist is merely a precaution in case a mistake started slipping in on the way that may hinder progress."

I'm not going to worry as I have been SO strict following the diet and am progressing along towards my goal!

thanks for that sha-sha...i hear you loud and clear and i am taking it all in.
i am just soooo curious. i love it...all the knowledge, etc.

mrs. peel.. my first bloods cam back showing NO PROBLEMS OR DEVIATIONS, thank goodness. but i did eat out quite a few times in those 4 weeks. i always had grilled fish and greens or salad and chicken. once i had a tiny greek salad,(no olives or anything off plan). i was very careful, like i am sure you are.
so eating out has not affected me.
but now, because i was away traveling with my DH for our anniversary last week, and i know i have deviated in some ways, i have to wait another week or so to do my 12 week bloods.
who knows what they will say.
like i said, you know what you are doing....AN AMAZING JOB!!!!!

i am curious about the fat dissolving, etc.
were you doing a few procedures that may have broken down loads of fat?
i thought you might have posted that....hmmmmm

here i am again being the curious cat.LOL!

MrsPeel
07-09-2008, 10:17 PM
Hey, bitten!

Well, I was getting endermologie treatments when I started the plan, but I haven't had one of those in several months. That definitely breaks down the fat. I did post quite a bit about that process, especially when Cyberella was still on the Forum.

I think perhaps they're right - I'm now down to the "oldest" fat I have, the stuff I gained in my forties, and maybe as it breaks down, it shows up funny in my blood panel.

But - I feel great and I'm getting close to my goal!!!!!!!!!

Shasha
07-10-2008, 05:09 AM
{hi} there Mrs Peel & Bitten

Interesting… thank you so much for sharing that… it makes sense!

Remember in your New Customer Guide pages 10 and 11 where Dr Cohen talks about plateaus and he says:

Remember that you are still breaking down fat during these “plateau” periods, but the growth hormone is dissolving the fat in the water so you will weigh water when you get on the scale, and you’ll notice that you are not running to the rest room as often in this period!

We all know that fats contains quiet a lot of toxins and as the fat goes into your blood stream so that your body can use it for energy, the toxins will end up in your blood stream too… and, those toxins may very well affect your blood test results.

In my humble opinion, that would be a very good reason to down another glass of water right away …

mrs. peel-

first of all i am so jealous that you are 5'10" (says the girl who is 5'5"1/2)!!!!!!

and if you have 16+ lbs to lose you will certainly be down another size by re-feed and if you read what bronwyn posted about her re-feed...maybe more-

so a 6 you will be.
i'd bet on it!

you may have to have that new skirt altered.....poor you!

MrsPeel, it must be nice to be so tall!!! I'm a shorty at 5'4 and weigh the same as you now. Of course i'm not in a size 8 like you but, i am in a size 12 and coming from a size 16 i'm pretty happy with the out come so far. I've still got a ways to go so hopefully i can be in a size 8 before i know it. I'm not sure that my goal of 140 is realistic, at my age that may be too small. I'm not that young chick any more, but maybe i can be a hotty. CONGRATULATIONS on you new you a size 8

AWESOME

Thanks, Mimi! But listen - I'm 52! And I started with a size 18 back in December, so YOU CAN DO IT! The only question is how we look as our target weight approaches - I think us mature ladies can look odd if we get too thin.

Bitten, you are too funny! If I make it to a size 6, it will be incredible.

{hi} there Mini-Mrs Peel and Everyone

{congrats} That is soooooo exciting!!

I really want you to post this into the Coffee Clutch, MY BEST DAY… because I don’t think ANYTHING can compare to going on a shopping spree… taking in a size 12 feeling hopeful, but taking in a size 14 to be realistic and WALKING OUT OF THE SHOP WITH A SIZE 8!!!

AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! Even more so because of your length, your age and especially because you’ve never been a size 8 before!!!

YOU GO GIRL!!!

TALK ABOUT WALKING ON SUNSHINE!!!
WHHHHOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!
AND DON'T IT FEEL GOOD!!!

And, {noway} should you change your name to Kate-whoever… BUT, you may some day want to change your atavar to I DO BELIEVE!!! LOL –

I’m just kidding ~ I really do like your atavar ~ and I never ever want you to change it, because it says so clearly IF MRS PEEL COULD DO THIS! SO CAN YOU!!!

GREAT GOING SUPER STAR!!! So, in this bighug, I guess my hands will go right around your tiny waist and touch the other side’s elbows :bighug: GREAT GOING!!!

{cheerleader}MrsPeel, i agree with you about being to small, we just want to look good and feel healthy. I'm 51 and have not been this small in 20 years. I'm going to keep my 140 goal and wait and see where i am when i get to my 12 weeks.

There is no doubt that you are already a hottie in a size 8 MIMI:flower::party1::party1:

And it was a lovely skinny anniversary :)
