I am having difficulty finding a multi-vitamin that has less than 5mg of B6 as instructed in the customer guide. I am anxious to find one, as I have read that other dieters have found themselves to be less hungry after taking multi-vitamins and I am so hungry!! Anyone have a brand they can recommend?

The women's weight loss multivitamin fits the bill. All of the major vitamin companies make them. i bought the generic.

{hi} there Diet Buddies

Dr Cohen does not recommend a specific brand of vitamin but I can tell you that Centrum has been approved because it contains less than 5 mg of Vitamin B6. Try to find a multi-vitamin with chromium in it.

In any case your choice should contain vitamins and minerals only, nothing else like berries or herbs etc.

Hope this helps :flirt:

Shasha- a question for you...I've cut and pasted the ingredients of Centrum below and bolded the ingredients I question. While it has only 2mg B6, why has Centrum been approved when it contains so many suspect ingredients?

INGREDIENTS:

Contains < 2% of: Acacia, Anhydrous Citric Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Beta Carotene, Biotin, Boric Acid, BHT, Calcium Pantothenate, Calcium Stearate, Cholecalciferol (Vit. D), Chromium Picolinate, Corn Starch, Crospovidone, Cupric Sulfate, Cyanocobalamin (Vit. B12), dl-Alpha Tocopherol, FD&C Yellow 6 Aluminum Lake, Folic Acid, Gelatin, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Hypromellose, Lutein, Lycopene, Maltodextrin, Manganese Sulfate, Medium-Chain Triglycerides, Modified Food Starch, Niacinamide, Nickelous Sulfate, Phytonadione (Vit. Hi Maresco,

I'm glad you posted the above because finding the right vitamin was very frustrating to me and I'm still a little annoyed that 1PD will not provide a list of approved vitamins similar to how they provide a list of crackers that are okay. I am taking the One-A-Day for women and that seems to be fine. They ALL have ingredients in them similar to those you have outlined above which made choosing one very confusing and time consuming.

Dunkadora: Be careful of the weight loss vitamin. I was taking the One-A-Day for Weight Loss and it ended up having a few ingredients that Shasha found could be slowing my progress. Just FYI - I'm sure it's still in an old thread somewhere as I don't have that vitamin container anymore to remember what she didn't like about them.

I know, Bronwyn, right? Just tell me what to buy and I'll buy it, but don't ding me when I get it "wrong" when no one told me what to get. I looked into the Reeva Diet Supplement required in South Africa, as they were made specifically for Dr. Cohen, but I can't figure out how to buy them.

After searching far and wide, I finally had to buy something, so I got NatureMade Multi for Her from my local Safeway. It had cornstarch listed in the ingredients, but I simply cannot find one that doesn't.
Here are the specs: (sorry for the ugly link)

Shasha - {praying} If there's a weekly or monthly meeting for all the consultants to discuss feedback from their clients, could you mention that the people on the internet program would :love4: LOVE :love4: a list of brands of vitamins that Dr. Cohen approves? Thanks!!

{hi} there Macresco & Bronwyn

{grouphug1}

Been there, done that... but will be happy to do it AGAIN...

I've asked about the multi-vitamins and the only feedback is that the 1st Personal Diet Program cannot promote a specific brand of multi-vitamin for use by 1PD Customers.

Centrum has been approved by Dr Cohen for use with the program.

When looking for a suitable multi-vitamin you should look for a supplement that contains vitamins and minerals only and the vitamin B6 content per day should be less than 5 mg.

You should not take a vitamin that contains any fruit flavoring such as a orange flavored fizzy vitamin drink or chewable vitamins.

Try to find a supplement that contains chromium - chromium is a mineral that helps to control blood sugar stability and as a result it helps to control cravings.

You should not take supplements that contain fruits such as berries etc. nor should you take a supplement containing herbs for slimming etc.

Hope this helps and I will gladly forward your ideas and ''wish list'' on... :bighug:

Thanks so much, Shasha. I don't mean to be ungrateful because you're such a huge help to everyone, but all the stuff in your post we know already....either because you told us or because it's in the customer guide. ...which is why you probably said "been there, done that". :innocent4:

What I was asking was why Centrum would be approved when it has so much non-plan stuff in it.

I guess I don't understand why 1PD can "endorse" certain crackers but not vitamins?

I think one of the things I dislike about this plan is that you almost never get an answer to a "why" question. Drives. Me. Bonkers. {bangdesk}

Although I have to say that, you, Shasha, have been incredible at illuminating LOTS of the "whys" - why this diet works and why you shouldn't deviate, for example -- your post in the Fallen Off the Bus? thread is PURE GOLD.

I have a scientific mind and sometimes it's not enough for me to hear "because Dr Cohen says so..." whenever I ask why.

Also, I need to take my cranky pants off or eat a cracker or something...sorry if this post seems terse.

*****
and later...
Yeah, I don't want to delete this post because I personally feel weird doing that, but I wanted to say that it must be tough to hang out with us all day long and answer questions over and over.

I was struck by something I wrote...cranky = eat a cracker. That's exactly the type of behavior I need to stop!! Sorry for shooting the messenger, Shasha :(

Maresco you're adorable!! Cranky or not! Good job recognizing the cranky vs. eating issue. You aren't alone in feeling frustrated about not getting all the answers. Our dear Cyberella and Maya were big instigators of this and challenged our dear Shasha almost daily with their questions. It's true some people need more facts than others. Don't apologize for being curious and for wanting the answers. That's what this forum is for.

{hi} there Maresco

:bighug: & no problem at all Sweetie, I usually walk around in a bullet proof vest...

I'm thinking it would be absolutely fabulous if Dr Cohen would write a book!!! Put all his wonderful knowledge out there for everyone to read...

The only problem is that he may need to take time off calculating diets and that could be a real problem - I mean, imagine you do the program, lose weight and your sister wants to do it too and needs to be told: 'Sorry, please come back next year, the good doctor is busy now...'

I agree about the vitamins, I really do wish there was a specific list of VITAMINS like there is a list of crackers. All I can think is that it may be because the 1st Personal Diet Program is international and not all vitamins are found everywhere... ??

In any case, I do want to tell you that Dr Cohen and his TEAM are constantly working on improvements... {goodjob} A year ago there was no official Forum... there were a few Clients who asked about this and the Management listened and the result is the 1st Personal Diet Forum - so, even though you may not be 100% happy about everything, the good news is: THEY DO LISTEN TO YOU!!!

End of 2007, beginning 2008 saw the launch of the New System where every Client has their own Personal Page - this eliminated countless problems with e-mails not being received due to PC filters etc... and 2008 also brought about the Forum (YAAAAAAAAAY!!!) where you can chat with fellow Diet Buddies...

I don't know much, but I'm told that current new developments include a new more snazzy recipe book... so, watch this space!

All your wonderful suggestions, ideas etc do end up on the desk of Management and, they do take note.

And, before you get the gun and aim it again, :hiding: I'm sorry, but encyclopedia Shasha really does not have a clue as to WHY Centrum is okay to use... and, now before you pull that trigger, I'm on my bike out of here... VVVvvvvrrrrrrrroooooem!

Thanks for your reply, Shasha! I understand the doc's busy-ness and give endless thanks for the FORUM and the steps 1PD has taken to make the plan as internationally-friendly as possible. It can't be easy!

Regardless of whether I have a "perfect" vitamin or not, I have to tell you that having an extra one with lunch has made all the differnce in the world over the last two days. I feel GREAT!!

Two more sleeps until I weigh in for my first week and I have a feeling it's going to be a whoooooosher! :party1:

{hi} there Maresco

I'm very pleased that your extra vitamin is working wonders - it is amazing what just a little of the right stuff can do!! Talk about dynamite in a capsule... {bouncing}

I'm so excited to see your progress, can hardly wait {cheerleader}
