I guess there is a mythbuster in me that just needed to test the theory...
Well, not actually. I should have waited an extra 5 days to start the program, but I was very nervous and really wanted to prove to myself that I could 1) follow directions, 2) cook, 3) touch raw food. I knew I had an out-of-town birthday weekend celebration, but I was optimistic. I had prepared and frozen containers labeled 2 & 3. I knew I could buy fat free containers of yogurt in the exact amount prescribed. And I knew that 7-11 has microwave ovens for heating the frozen stuff I had already prepared.
I ended up having a few sips of a friend's margarita, which kicked off every craving I have ever had. I white knuckled my way through the night, but woke up without a microwave, without yogurt and with a craving for ANYTHING sweet/salty. After a 1/2 english muffin and poached egg, I knew I had blown the Cohen program and was headed for chocolate. To make matters worse, I drank about 3 times the amount of diet soda allowed. So filled with shame, I could not even look at the properly measured, carefully prepared containers labeled #2 & #3 (corresponding to Cohen's meal #) for the rest of the day.
Sheepishly, I crawled on the scale the next morning... +2, which set me back to the weight I was the day BEFORE I left for the party weekend. Although 100% on program for 3 days, I am just now back to my pre-party weight. OK, it wasn't a week, but it was 5 days, and I hate to think about where I would be on the scale had I stayed on program for those 5 days!
Before I get out the party hats for my own pity party, I can say that I am glad for the entire experience - learning that I could stay on program while traveling, learning that so little could knock me off program, and discovering within me the will to snap back immediately.
