I am on day 1 of week 6....

i have lost 26 lbs and have a huge 69 lbs left till my cohens goal.
i am really curious as to how long it will take. i truly got it in my head from reading and surfing and posting and everything that i could lose all my weight in 24 weeks (2 rounds)....

i am a bit deflated...but i feel great and i love the program.
i just really, really want lose it NOW!!!! (or at least by september!!):P

i'd love to hear how others have lost, weekly, monthly..etc

Bitten, you need to look at this more closely! You are less than one-quarter of the way through your projected 24 weeks, and you've lost more than one-quarter of the weight!! You're right on-target for your goal of refeed by the end of the second session!
Today is the last day of Week 7 (of the second session) for me, and I have 35 more pounds to go. I won't lose 7 pounds a week, so I will probably have to re-up once more, but I'm okay with it as every single pound I lose now makes a visible difference.

Don't project a lack of success - you can do it!!!!!! :clapping3:

i do not mean to project negativity...i am looking for reality.
i do not want to set myself up for more than will really happen.
i have been told that you can tell they way you will lose by your first 4-6 weeks on the program. so knowing that i did not lose 30 or 40 + lbs in this time, i have to begin to set more realistic goals that i can strive for and remain positive about.
i figure i can lose 80 lbs by the end of september, but i will not be at goal or through re-feed.
i have to come to terms with the fact that we have a holiday booked and find a way to cope with that happily. i really thought i would be done...i was being positive and self affirming and visualizing me at goal on the beach and scuba diving!!!
i am thrilled that i found this program, but i wonder if others felt this or read this things...or is it just me?

many thanks:love3:

Hey there Bitten,

Think of it this way, you have lost an average of about 5 pounds per week. That is AMAZING!!! I have only lost an average of about 2 pounds per week. It may or may not take you until September to lose all of the weight. You are bound to hit a plateau or two, but you may also have weeks of HUGE loss that is unexpected. The main thing is that you need to realize that each of us is so different physiologically and just becuase one person loses X amount in X amount of time, doesn't mean you will too. You are making amazing progress and I know you are so far thrilled with the results. I found myself guessing when I'd be done and it was driving me crazy. I have finally been trying to focus on the here and now and how great I look and feel and also on the fact that someday I will be done. Instead of focusing on when, focus on that you will and it'll be here before you know it. You are doing so well I'd hate to see you lose sight of your progress and get too frustrated.

I know dear Bitten and you are entitled to feel the feelings you are experiencing. Hopefully having us validate what you know to be true will help you through. As I said, I had my weeks of doubt on this plan too. You can do this! Project to the end and imagine how amazing you will feel and look when it's all said and done. I promise, I never thought I'd get down to this little of weight again in my life and here I am (and not quite finished!)

I don't know if you're excersizing, but I started again regularly working out about three weeks ago. I think it has really helped to boost not only my progress, but also my spirit. I take an extra vitamin on the days I work out and I eat an apple just after and I haven't noticed a decrease in energy at all. In fact, I feel stronger and leaner and healthier.

Hi Miss Bitten!

Even if you haven't finished refeed by your trip, You WILL be "On the beach and scuba diving" and you will be looking and feeling fantastic.
Several months from now, you will be so used to the diet that it won't be as hard to stick to it. I know, in our old lives the best times in our lives included rich (or maybe junk) foods. We are changing that, finding new things that make us happy and celebrating other parts of our lives.
Yes you may still be on the diet in September but you won't be the same Bitten. You are going to be so close to achieving goal, you will have come so far. Your vacation is going to be fantastic because you are going to feel fantastic about yourself and all that you have accomplished! You will be able to do all the activities that you were held back from before, maybe :surf:?
You keep on visualizing how wonderful that vacation will be and keep using it as motivation to stay on track. You are going to have such a great time!

i am kinda of in a weird head space at the moment.
i need to be more in the moment, in the now and less in the past and future.
i will try to not to project so very much.
i talked to DH about it...he feels that we will go away and i will be so close to goal and i should deal with it then and not now.
that by then i will be more comfortable and at peace with myself.
i may even be finished, but if not i can always come back and finished what i started.
or perhaps we will re-book.
i know that i will be where i need to be when my body gets there, in it's own time....not mine.
i will continue to focus on the here and NOW!:applause:

{hi} there Bitten

Your diet buddies have all given you such wonderful support - WOW {goodjob} everyone!

I just want to say that you should never compare your progress with that of anyone else. You are unique and your return to health and wellness will also be unique journey. Your metabolism is different, your genes are different, your stress levels are different etc, etc, etc. It stands to reason that your journey will also be different.

Best thing for you would be to focus on always doing the very best that you can ~ this way you will know that no matter how long it does take, you've made sure it does not take you any longer than necessary to lose the excess fat. There's a real peace that comes from knowing that you are number 1) working on the problem and changing the situation and number 2) that you are doing the very best you can.

Sometimes we just need to fill our minds with other things so that dieting is not the only thing we think about. Do you have any special talents or hobbies or things that you like to do? Or things that you have always wanted to do? Well, now is a good time to bring these into your life - it will help to pass the time - I'm not saying you are bored, please don't understand me wrong, :reading: I'm just thinking that the busier you are, the less time you will have to wonder about things that you cannot control the outcome of in any case.

Month 1 is the golden month in which many (not all) dieters lose their most weight. Following this and providing that you continue to follow your eating plan 100% you should see a steady weight loss month after month.

So, like the water in today's Positive Thought For The Day, the key is to preserve:

YOU ARE DOING IT! JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON! {cheerleader}

she thought it was great loss....i just said well, my scales at home say i have lost a lot more....WOW.

Hi Bitten--

This is my second post (I just introduced myself in the Welcome forum) but I want you to know I have been watching your posts since I started "lurking" here 3 weeks ago. You are my inspiration and I've been "rooting" for you. We have similar amounts of weight to lose. I'm about a month "behind" you.

You may not be where you had hoped to be, but you are soooo much farther than where you started. I've needed to lose this weight for nearly 10 years, and I can't tell you how many "goals" I set for myself: "I'll lose it by xxx date". That date would come and go and I'd set another one. NO PROGRESS!

I think you're much younger than me (I'm 43) but I congratulate you for taking the steps you need to make NOW, rather than "wasting" the next 10 years being dissatisfied with how you look and feel. You may not make this beach season, but you will get there!

Please don't get discouraged - I NEED YOU!!!

{hi} there Bitten

So sorry to hear about the scaly disappointment! That’s enough to derail anyone’s positive mood… :comfort:

A few tips about weighing yourself:

1) You should always weigh yourself on the same scale. Different scales may have different calibration and going from the one to another will most likely only end up in disappointment.

2) You should weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after emptying your bladder and standing on the scale naked or in your under garments – this is what you weigh. If you were to weigh yourself again at noon in clothes you can easily find a 2 – 4 pound difference due to water, coffee, tea and your meals and clothes etc.

3) Do test your scale by taking it with to someone else and by standing on the one scale and immediately on the other. If you have a few friends with scales I would try doing this two times at least to test for accuracy and each time note or write down the differences in which scale weighed what. (When testing the scale you don’t need to stand on it naked – you are not trying to see your weight, but the differences between the two scales.

I’m not saying it is so, but was your Doctor’s scale weighing in pounds or kilograms? (sorry to ask it's perhaps a silly question.)

If all else fails, worst case senario, and you find that your scale was out and that you have lost 14 pounds, listen to your DOCTOR: “she thought it was great loss....” Because she is a doctor and she knows about these things!!! If she says its a great loss, you better believe it's a great loss and love yourself for doing a {goodjob}

I’m glad that you’ve been for your blood test, Dr Cohen will be able to give you feedback on how your body is doing and if you need to change anything… Hope you receive a rely soon on the scales and your BT results.

Hey, bitten, sweety... :love3:
I just saw this thread... I am so sorry you went through all this...but you know what? It always comes out something good from it.
I agree - some things are totally different than I expected or read. Some are awesome, some are less nice, some are not true at all.
But Shasha is right -we are ALL so different. It is hard to say what will happen to the most.

I have been hungry most of the time. Sometimes it is killing me.

But I also think we're going through such a bigger change than just visual change...that it is worth every day being strong and trying the best.

I admire you for being so open and honest and talk about how you feel... I think especially this forum is kind of quiet and people don't really express much of the frustrations... but I think that's why forums are for, aren't they, Shasha:rolling:?

And yes, I know how it is, especially when you dont see the weightloss and you're hungry and nothing seems right... but try to distract yourself at that time, do sth...just dont be at home and wait. That's the worst.
I even rather cook for others than just wait till the time comes to eat again.

You are doing so great and yes, I feel like we're kind of on the same timing - we started similar time and I am always happy to see you are losing so much weight every week, because it is a lot, bitten, it is! You know my weightloss has been slow...and before, I didnt know why, I was blaming my hormones, my body, my stubborn mind... but now I know - the change is so huge even for our souls that anything faster would just be too fast.
And I keep repeating that this is such a NATURAL way of losing weight that it MUST be slow...everything in nature is SLOW.

Maybe try some new recipes, think about when you'll be on your own again, without plan - all women seems lost there and somehow they want to go back to the easy "I know what and when to eat and I feel good" plan... right now, that's my thought that keeps me here, when I wanna just give up.

We can do this, bitten...and God would never give you such a goal if it wasn't already decided YOU CAN DO IT.

Hi Maya, Bitten, Shasha and finally free,

I have been reading you all for about 11 days now. (welcome Finally free I'm brand new to the blogs too) My husband and I joined together 11 days ago. :love4: He due to VERY high cholestoral (and need of weight loss) and me due to perimenopause and wanting to shed the weight around my middle that crept on in the last year going into this homonal change time. (any one else seen results in this area due to this plan??) What an amazing program with such fabulous support people, ideas and recipies to keep things exiting. I am not letting my hubby weigh till the 4 week mark. I know he is tempted but watching him 'melt away' and tighted his belt a notch already is so fun! I still am trying to track down the kinds of US crackers we are allowed! Any ideas would be fabulous! We both treasure our 2 crackers at a time quota... 11 days and NO cheating so far! :clapping3:

{hi} there Bitten

I could just {pan} your doctor for having such an idiotic scale!

I'll send someone over there right away to take care of that scale once and for all... {bat} because it cost you feeling down in the dumps for just no reason at all!

I'm glad to hear that your SCALE IS WORKING 100%!!! Maybe take it with to your Doctor to show them what a good scale works like... Sorry, but as you can see, Shasha is steaming and ready to {explode} because your doctor is a professional and needs professional tools - they charge you a professional rate for a professional consultation... and I'm feeling all you got was a professional upset for no reason at all!

Looking on the good side of life though, if your doctor said you were doing GREAT for loosing 14 pounds, I guess she would just FAINT if she knew you had lost all of 26 pounds!!! LOL

YOU'RE OUR GIRL AND KEEP GOING STRONG... When you see your doctor again next time, I challenge you to go in your BEFORE CLOTHES and show her just how lose they are sitting...

{hi} there Becki

A very WARM WELCOME to you :bighug:

Yes, all our Diet Buddies are FABULOUS, let's give them a hand: :clapping3:

Its wonderful to see that you and your hubby are doing this together :love5:

Well done on doing 11 days so far - now that you are into it, please just keep on going... (and you should know up front that men do lose weight faster than woman do so you won't be disappointed and this is just a warning not take on any bets with him about who will lose the most weight the quickest

TIP: Try getting two different colored plates ie: pink for you and blue for him, that way, once you've pack the salad on each plate, you will know exactly where to put which steak...

For lots of cracker information, please look under the recipe thread in CRACKER IDEAS...

We hope to hear lots more about the two of you!!!

Hi, Becki -

I started the 1PD on Dec. 18 and as of April 30th, here are my losses in inches through the midsection:

Upper waist: Dec - 41 3/8" / Apr - 34 1/2" (-6 7/8")
Largest part of stomach: Dec - 45 1/2" / Apr - 38 1/2" (-7")

I gained a lot of my weight in the perimenopausal years, and now I'm done with menopause. You can see how well the 1PD works! I have lost 66 pounds in the last five months - and I feel terrific! I'm sure you will be successful, too.

Maybe you should ask her to do the math again. Its possible that she subtracted incorrectly because that much difference seems like a math error and not a problem with the equipment. Just hang in there and stick with your scale. You can try and check it with some weights - say 30 pounds of weight. Step on with the weights, step on without the weights and see what it measures. If its showing the 30 pound difference correctly, then your measures are correct.

Hi Bitten!
Even though I’m a newbie, I’d like to share some of my advice with you. It’s free and, of course, worth every penny! LOL.

I agree that is a big difference between scales. However, in having said that, if it were me, I’d concentrate on my weight loss on only one scale – the one you use regularly.

Here’s some more questions that came to mind… Did you adjust your scale with the one at the GP’s office at the beginning of your weight loss? Or maybe, someone could have annotated an incorrect weight at the GP’s office? Does anyone at your home have access to your scale that could have changed the set point on it?

My scale is six – yes, that’s a SIX-pound difference from the one at my Dr’s office. (I’m sure you’re not using My scales :-) but that might account for some of the difference in your case. Also at home I weigh “au natural” in the morning vs. fully clothed at the Dr. in the afternoon.

I gain weight just by simply standing up after I get out of bed! (I think its part of that darned gravity conspiracy thing.) Did you have on heavier clothes between weighing - lightweight vs heavy clothing, or holding a purse or a jacket? Even shoes can weigh a few pounds…

Just trying to give you some things to think about that may have accounted for such a large difference in the scales.
Good Luck and keep thinking positive! We’re rooting for you. J
~Bev

oh gosh I just read more of the posts - oh, well... maybe these ideas could help someone else that may have the same situation come up later... What a relief, eh?
:party1:
Keep up the great work!

Cheri

Isn't it funny how we play the 'weighing game'?
Everytime I went to the Dr. I would put on my lightest clothes -not color, weight, cuz you know you're going to be wearing slimming black.
