Hello!

Shasha - another question for you...
Is Inulin allowed?

I couldnt find the digestive bran you once wrote about, but I found this Miracle fiber and the only ingridient is: Inulin (100% vegetable fiber). And if it is OK, how much do you recommend a day?
(I found this online about inulin: If you are diabetic, this is a great product for you. Since Inulin is not digested, glucose levels aren't affected. It's not counted as a typical carbohydrate!)

I will wait for the answer before I take any...
Thank You SOOOOO much:party1:!!!!

Hi Maya, I was told by a consultant while I was on the diet that I could have Fiber Sure. I just checked the container and the ingredient is inulin. You may still want to wait and hear from Shasha but I'm thinking she'll say OK.

Gosh, I have no idea, Bailey now... Hm...
This was the answer:

Kindly note that you are still on restricted portions of protein and
vegs - which means that the vegetable fiber at this stage of the program will not be suitable.

Shasha, if you're reading this... I bought another thing today (I would LOVE to add some fiber to my morning yogurt to make me feel little more full and to be able to poop)...

It is called 100% natural psyllium fiber. Each rounded teaspoonful contains 6 grams of 100% Natural Psyllium Hydrophillic Mucilloid, equal to 3 grams of Soluble Fiber.

If I can have this, how much would you recommend me to take it?
THANK YOU!!!!!

Maya, I looked for the message from the consultant about inulin but I must not have kept it. Anyway you should just listen to what Shasha tells you. I know Metamucil is allowed, I think that may be psyllium.

I had a constipation problem when I was on the diet and the FiberSure didn't work and the psyllium didn't work so I took magnesium which is all natural. I learned about it when I went on the Fat Flush diet several years ago. You shouldn't take it for constipation if you have IBS but other than that I think it's pretty safe. Here is a Q&A about it:

Magnesium Eases Constipation
Newspaper Columns, Pharmacy Q&A July 13, 2007

Q. I had constipation for five years. I was using Citrucel and extra bran on my cereal. I drank lots of water but still had very hard rabbit-like stools.

At water aerobics a friend told me about taking magnesium. It has worked wonders for me.

I take 500 mg before going to bed and have a good response, usually before noon the next day. I asked my internist and cardiologist if it was safe to take and they both said no problem. The cardiologist even said it is good for the heart as well. I thought you might want to pass this along.

A. Magnesium has long been used to counter constipation. Milk of magnesia, for example, is a well-known laxative. Too much of this mineral can cause diarrhea, though. Most people tolerate 300 mg with no problems, but those with kidney problems must avoid extra magnesium.

It may be worth trying, it's cheap too.

{hi} there Everyone

Please remember that bowel movement twice a week is sufficient while you are on the Eating Plan. This is because you have reduced your intake (particularly starch). Please do not assume that a change in bowel movement indicates constipation.

You may take a fibre supplement such as Duphalac, Linseed or Psyllium Husks while being on the program. If you do, I recommend that you increase your water intake, particularly if your stools are hard.

Magnesium will also be fine. A while back Cyberella posted an article that said Magnesium can help to prevent cravings so that would be an added bonus.

Hope this helps, don't want anyone feeling like: {explode}

Bitten, I know you're not asking me but I wonder if it's a cleansing/detox reaction to the diet.

{hi} there Bitten

...very loose watery stools

i drink loads. at least 4-5 liters daily, plus teas and coffees too!

Some clients can complain of an upset stomach in the first week or two while their body adjusts to new foods, perhaps more fruit or vegetables etc. If someone never ate much fish and on the new diet eats fish everyday, this can also result in having the runs.

Normally this does not continue for 4 weeks through. I would recommend that you consult your doctor if the problem continues much longer.

I do believe your drinking so very much could be playing a role. For the purposes of the diet it is enough to drink 2 liters of water a day. I do believe that 4 - 5 liters with teas and coffees too may be too much for your body and that this could also cause the runs.

Maybe trying reducing your water for a few days to see if the problem improves, if not, I recommend seeing your doctor.
