I need some input. In 4 weeks I will be attending my life long friends bachelorette party in Las Vegas. We have always been drinking buddies and this trip is more than ever a time when I'm expected to drink. I'm torn on what I'm going to do. I've been 100% compliant on my program so far, no deviations. However I do want to have some alcohol on this trip.....aaaahhhhhgggg what do I do? Is the no alcohol rule of the program because of the sugars? calories? carbs? Knowing that I'm probably going to deviate for one night, and ONE night only, I need to come up with a plan. The better I understand the reason behind the no alcohol the better I'll be able to prepare.
Thank you,
Amber
PS I was thinking vodka with diet sprite??????:thinking:

Hi Amber! Okay - so here's the deal. Alcohol is absolutely not allowed and even a small variation may set your progress back by at least one week. Please read my comment under the "Willpower Rules" thread about my trip to Vegas. I was in a similar situation as I was going with a bunch of party girls who kept swearing they were going to "make me cheat". As I'm a bit of a partier myself I was on the fence and wasn't sure I'd make it, but I did. You wait and see how much weight you've lost and how fabulous you look in four weeks and you won't want to cheat. My main inspiration was and continues to be that I don't want to be on this diet any longer than I have to be. As it happened, I made it with no alcohol, but did deviate in that I had a vigiagrette salad dressing and some BBQ sauce on a filet minon and that set me back one week. Imagine if I'd have had even one drink how much worse it would've been. Of course, no matter what you do we'll be here for you when you get back. I have to reiterate that I was SO PROUD of myself for staying on the plan while I was there. Also, it was honestly pretty funny to be the only one sober all night and watching the drunkeness ensue amonst everyone else. It was very entertaining and I still had a really good time. Good luck!!

Amber- The question is how long do you want to be on this diet...I am starting my week 13 and am ready to be done with this diet. I have not cheated once except that I skipped 3 meals due to being sick and I didn't loss a lbs for 2 1/2 weeks.....So... is a night of fun worth going an extra two weeks? only you can make that decision.

Amber -- PLEASE PLEASE try to find OTHER stuff to do in Vegas!

There must be SOMETHING one can do in Vegas -- can't think what it's famous for, but there must be SOMETHING! -- I mean, it IS a smallish city in the desert, but I'm certain there's SOMETHING! :thinking:

I was on the diet for nearly 24 weeks. If I had done it AS WRITTEN for the first 6, I would have been done in 12. You DO NOT want to cheat!

You want to be GORGEOUS in your bachelorette party clothes and FABULOUS in your wedding outfit(s)!

Go to shows! Go gambling! Go to a spa! GO SHOPPING!!!! :party8:

Wow!!! You are all amazing and correct! The fact is I really don't want to cheat I just felt I didn't have a choice......but after reading all your posts I feel certain I can do it!!! I do not want to be on the diet any longer than I need to, so I don't know why I would do that to myself. Thank you Thank you Thank you all! Gosh just imagine if this forum wasn't here. I am so grateful :hug::rolling2::party5:{grouphug1}

YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!! Good for you!

Now, my "go to a party on the 1PD" trick: Get yourself a diet coke in a fancy glass (umbrellas, whatever)...and carry it around with you all night. Act as nuts as you'd like! Believe me, it's worth it to have a BLAST at a party without getting fat, feeling sick the next day, and having your IQ lowered by about 75 points for the next week after the alcohol. You'll also have the added advantage of REMEMBERING what you did (you know, the stuff that has to "stay in Vegas"!)

You'll have a BLAST! :rolling2: WELL DONE!

Yay Amber! I'm telling you that I NEVER in a million years would have thought that I could go "drinkless" in VEGAS of all places, but I did it and you can too. My friends were so supportive and awesome too. Again, four weeks from now you'll be so much thinner and your friends will notice and just knowing that you can set yourself back so much makes it so not worth it. I made a realy point of having fun, being relaxed, and not begrudging the partiers their fun so they didn't even notice really that I wasn't partying as much as they were. Two of my friends got sick and felt horrible the next day and I was so happy to not be in that boat.

Keep in touch with us as your trip gets closer and we'll be here for you 100%!!!!

Hey Amber, was just in a similar situation myself recently. I thought there would be no way to make it through the night without a single drink -- but it turned out to not be as hard as I thought, and my friends were really supportive. In fact, they jokingly made me the designated driver for the next few months!!! If no driving is needed, you can still be the designated friend that watches out for everyone and makes sure no one gets into any unwanted trouble. And Bronwyn is right, it's pretty fun just laughing at everyone else being so silly. Enjoy your trip and you can make it through this.... you'll see.

{hi} there Everyone

I agree with Wilma {goodjob} on all the support! :applause: to everyone who’s given input!

Wilma, you know the saying 2 hands and 10 fingers, I’ve been quiet busy copying and pasting and re-arranging the RECIPE SECTION for two days and I must say that YES, it is REALLY GREAT – in fact WONDERFUL to see everyone giving their input and supporting each other!!! After all that’s what the 1st Personal Diet Forum is there for: Diet Buddies to support and help and uplift each other and, in my mind it’s working BEAUTIFULLY!

About the not needing moderators bit… {uhm} after having pasted my 770 th post today, I am afraid I cannot agree with you on that one. I believe our precious Diet Buddies still need the Cohen COPS to remind them of little things and to sort out small mistakes before these are made on an ongoing basis such as not to eat canned chicken etc…

Besides, I like to think that the Diet Buddies enjoy our support, encouragement and love too!

{hi} there The Perfect Weight

Firstly, from what I’ve read, you are doing really GREAT! On your way to being your Perfect Weight!!! {goodjob}

Always remember that on Dr Cohen’s Eating Plan, PREVENTION IS 100 if not 1 000 000 TIMES BETTER THAN CURE!!!

It can become WAY TOO EASY for JUST THIS ONCE to become JUST THIS ONCE again and again and again – taking you back to square one.

Sadly we find that just one cheat is where a lot of Dieters actually loose it. This is because the program works with your hormones… and that is what someone will be upsetting if they do deviate. Make no mistake, alcohol triggers LOTS of INSULIN (your fat storing hormone)...

With PREVENTION in mind, please go read my post: HAVE YOU FALLEN OFF THE BUS in the SUPPORT section. I believe it will give you lots of insight as to what could go wrong...

Hi Perfect Weight,
It just so happens that I am going to vegas in 4wks for a bachlorette party as well. 5/30. I have been preping my friends that I will not be drinking. For months we always get together and drink on Saturdays (game night) I have even turned down our usual game night for this weekend because I want them to know how serious I am. I am actually looking forward to going to Vegas and actually being sober. It will be a whole new world. Usually, when I am there I feel miserable from being up until 4am and drinking. YUCK!! not this girl anymore. I plan on shopping and taking in a show. OF Course, I plan to watch everyone else and make sure we stay safe. I have already had friends telling me it is just one day. I explained that that one day will disappoint myself and no one else.

I love this forum!!!!! Everyone is so awesome, helpful and motivating!! Thank you moderator for keeping us in line :party1:
I am looking forward to having the fun in Vegas and then also feeling great the next day and not being in bed until the afternoon nursing the hangover. Having the time the next day is going to be my reward to myself...............I'll take myself shopping or just laying out next to the pool tanning my fit & toned new body:flirt:
Keep up the good work everyone!!!

{hi} there Everyone

:bighug:
If all else fails, always remember that you've paid a lot of money so, make the most of these 12 weeks... why settle for losing less weight than you know you could?

That would be like paying for a trolley full of stuff but leaving half your paid for goodies behind in the shop... {noway}

Perfect weight,

Keep in touch before and after your Vegas trip. I would love to hear what you did while there and I will let you know what I did to pass the time. I plan on bringing my scale because we rented a house for 24 girls. (only 3 bathrooms, that should be interesting).

I did this same thing in Jan. I had decided that I looked and felt great that I would take the long weekend off in Vegas for a friends wedding. Was a crazy group and I suppose I know myself better than to think a diet coke in a fancy glass would do the trick. I'm a when in Rome kind of gal :) Anyway, I tried to make good food choices, but there weren't many avail where we were and I felt soooooo SICK to my stomach after 2 beers and dinner. I was like that almost the whole time. SOOOOO it wasn't worth it to deviate b/c my new skinnier tummy couldn't take the alcohol (even a small amt) - it was like a system shock. So even if you think you would go and have drinks one night with your friends it may not be the hang over that gets you. I had to go in early b/c I had such a stomach ache - missed out on the night and visiting with my friends. Listen to what the others have said and pass on the drinks and bad foods - soooooo not worth it.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Thanks IMB.

I appreciated hearing from someone who just experienced it. It makes all that much more worth NOT doing it.
