YOGHURT RICE “PUDDING”:

Prepare the night before!! :flirt:
175ml yoghurt, ˝ teaspoon cinnamon, sweetener and mix with water. Prepare yoghurt, sweetener and mix in water. Pour half of mixture into sealable plastic bowl. Place rice cake in the middle and pour remainder of yoghurt mixture on the top. Rice cake must be completely covered. Seal with lid and refrigerate overnight. The rice cake fluffs up and absorbs the extra liquid- delicious and a must try! :P

Alternative: Use coffee OR any of the fruit as per allowance to flavour the yoghurt- see FLAVOURED YOGHURT recipe above. This meal can also be enjoyed for lunch or supper.
Perfect for days when you want something sweet. {boing}

{hi} there Megsy

I was so happy to hear you say:

To be honest, I've enjoyed more tasty creations on 1PD than before!

Thank you :bighug:

Remember that yogurt is the least filling of your meals options and so it is not a good idea to eat yogurt if you feel hungry or if the weather is very cold. It is also recommended to keep at least 1 fruit as a snack for during the day.

But you may mix your fruits to use in your smoothie with your yogurt: for example you can take 1/2 an orange, with 1/4 kiwi and 1/4 melon - so then your kiwi is 40 gram and your melon is 45 gram. This amounts to the same as one whole fruit.

Pop all the above into your blender with your yogurt allowance and push the button. If your smoothie is a bit thick, you may add some diet sprite soda... Mmmmm! {cheerleader}

I'm not big on the non fat yogurt since it's a little bitter, so this is how I make it lip smackin good. I cut up kiwis as one of my fruits, add it to the plain yogurt and then also added one packet of stevia to make it taste yummy!!! The stevia is aspartame free and has fiber in it.

here's just a little tip IF you can get it. Fage yogurt is a greek "strained" yogurt. It comes in 0%, 2% and full fat content whatever that is...maybe 4%. I use (and you should use the 0%.) anyway this particular yogurt, since it's strained seems really fattening because it's so creamy and thick. but it isn't. it's freaking awesome. it isn't runny like regular yogurt and has a much better, richer flavor than other yogurts. my fav breakfast is 6 oz. of that with a white peach...or any decent peach. also gala apples taste AMAZING cut up in your yogurt. gala apples, in my opinion, are the Dom Perignon of apples. so if you aren't familiar with them and you can get them, you should. they're amazing.

i don't know if this has already been mentioned, it is very similar to these recipes, but if you've ever been to an indian rest., they serve a drink called a mango lassi which is absolutely tasty. it is essentially yoghurt and mango blended with a little sugar. which we could do with sweetener or a little sprite0. try it.

Drexel - I found the Fage yogurt and you weren't kidding when you said it was 'freaking awesome'! I love it! It's so much more filling than regular yogurt. I was imaging I was eating pudding or whipped cream instead of yogurt! Wahoo

Haven't found Fage yogurt yet, but LOVE the 'rice pudding' recipe for putting yogurt over a rice cake with spenda and cinnamon! I pop that back in the fridge while I do some house chores and then pull out a meal that eats like a dessert. I eat this as my last meal of the day because it's usually late in the evening when I get to eat my third meal.

Hi Stephanie, thanks for your encouragement today! We're all in this together!

In reference to yogurt, Fage IS terrific but so is Chobani Greek yogurt. I have 6 oz nonfat every morning along with an apple, and I'm stuffed for hours. I take my time savoring every spoon, and sometimes spread a little on my sliced apples. Thick, and satisfying.

Best wishes!

What are rice cakes? Are they considered your cracker? I am confused as to what is actually allowed for crackers. I have been trying to find ones with high fibre so I stay full longer, but it seems like I am missing out on some special things. Also... why is there no veg. allowance with the yogurt meal? or is my menu missing something. My explanation pages said that every meal consists of a protein along with a veg. serving.
Please help! Thanks.

It's my understanding that there are only certain kinds of crackers allowed and they're listed in the customer guide, I think. Somewhere there are even pictures of those cracker boxes that we're allowed.....maybe another diet buddy will know what I'm talking about and give us more info.
There are no veggies with your yogurt. That's one of the reasons the yogurt is the least filling meal...

OK, so I was looking on this forum to see if there were any new suggestions and was curious about this Greek Yogurt Fage. After looking into it, the price was super high....$2.29 for a 7 oz container, when I can buy a 32 oz yogurt for $2 I figured it was a loss altogether. Then alas, my husband told me about draining the yogurt with cheese cloth. So we tried it and it worked. I don't know what Fage tastes like, but after removing the water from the yogurt and dressing it up with splenda, and cinnamon.... HOLY MOLY!!!! Yum yum yum. I truly feel like I am cheating. So here is how I did it....

Cheese Cloth
Super Fine Sieve
2- 32 oz Nonfat Plain Yogurt
Bowl for tons of water to be drained into

I dump 2 containers in and let it sit all day, and over night. Constantly dumping the water in the bowl. After the water drains, you end up with one 32 oz yogurt. That shows you how much water is added. I don't have the money for Fage, but if this is anything like it..... I just saved me a bunch of money! And we all know..... A penny saved is a penny earned!:party1:

I just posted a way of making your own FAGE yogurt. Check it out. It really is awesome!

OMG! I just happened to see the Fage yogurt at the store and I picked up a couple, figured why not. I LOVED it! Now I am kicking myself because I only got two. Too bad I can't have breakfast for all of my meals.

Peach Cobbler

I got the idea from Cynthia, and took it a step further and added yogurt :)

first stew a peach with just a little water in the bottom of the pan and lots of cinnamon, till it's soft
then put it over your yogurt and add a packet of sweatener, and a your crackers . . . . YUM!

I go to Winco here in California, and they sell Zoi, a greek yogurt for $0.80 for each 6oz serving, the texture is great, really enjoy it as opposed to the thin texture of the normal yogurt, not that I necessarily mind it one way or the other. I make a breakfast shake out of my yogurt every day since buying a blender lol. take my yogurt serving and dump it into the blender along with whatever fruit i'm havin that morning, a bit of cinnamon, few packets of equal and 6-7 ice cubes, turn that sucker on high and walk away to continue getting ready, minute or 2 later I have a nice breakfast I can drink on the way to work =D

We can have Rice Cakes?

Dayanira
05-13-2011, 04:42 AM
Yes, we can have Rice Cakes, as long as they don't go over your quota for crackers and they are natural, no flavor added.
