I live in a really small, rural town and fresh seafood is just not available to me. I was surprised when I actually found some canned crabmeat in one of our small local grocers. So, I sent a question to my consultant, asking whether this was allowed, and was actually expecting to be told no, but was quite surprised when they responded and said:
It is in order to use the tinned crab meat. You will weigh it just as you do with the tuna - without the water.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that they said I could have this, but again, hugely surprised. Unlike tuna in a can, crabmeat in a can contains preservatives and I thought that was one of the main premises of this diet -- fresh or frozen only, so as to not consume preservatives. I just wanted to put this question to the group to see what others have been told about canned crabmeat. I am doing so good on my diet, I just hate to eat something that could set me back. I'd love to hear what any of you have heard or think about this. Thanks!!!
