View Full Version : My BEST DAY.....

All of us have special memories that we put away and save for a rainy day to bring out when we're feeling down. I actually have what I call my "Kudos" file at work - it's a collection of compliments from supervisors and co-workers over the years thanking me for jobs well done. I think everyone should have one. Or two. {cheerleader}

I have another one that is my personal "BEST DAY" file. Yesterday I filed away the comments that I shared in my 4 week weigh in thread... someone telling me I looked "glamorous", the comment that I could NOT possibly have children, much less a 10 year old, and then my husband telling me to get a new bathing suit - that the current one was hanging on me.

Sometimes the things in my file might seem silly to some... two years ago I have an entry that involved completing 20 miles walking in 5 hours... and then opening my fruit snack pouch and finding all but one RED gummy inside! The red ones are my favorite, so I really thought God was smiling on me that day. :) A year ago I caught all green lights on my way to work. Sometimes it's the little things! And sometimes it's bigger... 16 years ago I bought a wedding dress because it was a size 6! I think that's the last size 6 I have purchased!

I hope everyone will take a moment to think back on the big and little things that make them smile. Bring out those memories and share them. Then work on making more "BEST DAY" memories today. I know I am! {wave}

Luv it, Luv it, Luv it!! :love1:

What a great idea! Thanks BarbieGrrrl - I'll be starting one very shortly. I have lots of memories, but I love the idea of creating a file to store them all. (Especially since giving birth to my two angels - I've definately inherited the "Baby Brain" that seems to accompany that experience.)

Cheers

Thank you for reminding me to look at the "small" things that we have everyday. I love the idea of putting them all in one place. I used to keep a gratitude journal that made you think of all the wonderful things that happen big and small. It might be time to dust it off. This would be a great thread for people to post their "Best Day" memories.

What a great idea! I find that I do stop and notice the little things now, but I never thought of writing them down! One of my best friends had a baby today and she just called me to tell me all the wonderful news (I've been waiting ALL DAY to hear!!). This made me think of each of my own kids, too. This is their 2nd little boy and their oldest is just 12 days older than my grandaughter, Mia (2 1/2 years). Anyway, as a grandmother I find that I really appreciate all the little things and moments. My kids are older and they grew up so fast that now I don't want to miss a thing. One of my most cherished moments is when my daughter-in-law brings Mia over to visit and when I open the front door her face lights up and she squeals in delight and yells "ouma!" and runs to me with her arms outstretched, ready to be scooped up in my arms and hugged. It is delightful and I love it. It fills my heart completely.

BarbieGRRRL! What a wonderful, wonderful idea. I LOVE THIS THREAD!! Thank you for reminding us to focus on the positive and I, too, think I might start a journal of nice things that happen each day. You know the little things make the biggest difference like if someone lets you go in front of them in traffic instead of cutting you off (I live in LA and that is a RARITY!!), a stranger smiling and saying hello, getting nice compliments, etc. I've really been trying to focus on the positive lately anyway and I feel that writing each moment down will solidify it in the universe. Good show BarbieGRRRL!

Hey Gals (and guys if any are reading this!) -

So I have to share that I am down now almost 31 pounds and I feel GREAT!!! I'm definitely in my size 6's and they fit perfect now (at first they were tight in my tummy) although they are baggy in my butt and legs (my belly is my prob area). I had to go to a party at our corporate office last Thursday and I haven't seen these people since Christmas. Everyone, even people I barely know, came up to me and wanted to know what I was doing and told me I look "awesome" "great" "fabulous", etc. I'm telling you I was on cloud 9!! It made it easier (once again finding the motivation) to not eat their delicious looking mexican food they had ordered in and to forego the cake! I'm not really a cake lover, but this cake looked REALLY GOOD!!! I ate my chicken salad I brought and had my fruit later for dessert. Good stuff!!

Then at work yesterday I met with another colleague that I hadn't seen for a while and got the same response. My new nickname at the office is "Skinny" (hehehe) and I'm more motivated than ever to stay on track and get this thing done!! I am loving getting dressed in the morning. Quite a difference from only a couple of months ago when I'd open the closet and decide what to squeeze into or what was baggy enough to hide the extra weight that would buldge out of my pants. I guess I wanted to share because where my body image is concerned, right now, every day is becoming my best day! Thanks to all of you diet buddies for keeping me motivated and on track too and THANK YOU Dr. Cohen for all your research and for finding something that works!!

Bronwyn,
What a great post! When I dream about reaching my goal weight -it's a very similar experience. Everyone telling me how great I look. Me knowing how great I look (that's the best part!) and having FUN picking out clothes to wear! :cloud9: I am really looking forward to those times again. I know if I stick to the 1PD it will come soon. Glad it's already happening for you!! :dance::applause:

With summer approaching, I had to finally to go shopping for shorts... NOT my favorite thing to do. I have ugly legs... The only thing worse is shopping for a bathing suit....So, I hit Kohl's for their summer sales. I bought 4 shorts in a SIZE 10!!!! I have never been a size 10...well maybe when I came out of my mother's womb....I bought them a little tight so I could get some wear out of them. I put on my NEW size 10 shorts yesterday and walked outside to show my husband. Even before I could say anything, he said..."Honey, It's time to go shopping those shorts are too big on you!"... I could have married him all over again. Who would have thought that my size 10 would be too big.... Maybe I'll get the courage up to go bathing suit shopping.... Okay, I'm not feeling that great.

Yay AmyLynn!!! Isn't that such an amazing feeling??? I gotta tell you, the clothes is a HUGE reason I was able to stay on track. I have had so much fun "downsizing" my wardrobe and for the first time since I can remember I ENJOY getting dressed in the mornings. I'm so, so happy for you. You're doing so great and looking so good! You just wait... that bathing suit isn't far behind the shorts! I hope you are throwing away (donating) your old clothes?!?

{hi} there AmyLynn

JUST LOOK AT HOW VERY FAR YOU HAVE COME!!!! :bighug:
I'm very, very proud of you MRS SUPER STAR LOSER!!! {wave}

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling that great... sometimes we struggle to see the difference in ourselves, I think it's because we live in our bodies on a daily basis... but that's when you need to rely on the judgment of our close loved ones, like your Darling Husband... He would not just have said that for no reason!

I am sure that you are looking STUNNING!!! And I'm sure he is thrilled with your progress!!! :love: Clearly the man wants to take you shopping and, I think you should let him spoil you with some nice new goodies to boost that moral! YOU DESERVE IT!

Bitten... I stayed in my 14's for a long time and I hardly wore the 12's. I guess the fat finally is starting to come off my thighs.

You'll get there Bitten I promise. Like AmyLynn said - sometimes you'll skip an entire size as you're shrinking 'cause it catches up to you so quickly. You're doing such a great job!
