Does anyone know the secret to the tickers? Do I have to keep that link somewhere so I can always post it when I sign off on a post? Where do you save it?
thanks

Hey flwrgrlie, you want to go under the Control Panel and Edit Signature. Place your html or BB code there and it will then display under every message you post.

Trying it out...

I'm trying the ticker thing too. Here is a test.

Hi all, I think I did it. I have so much to say, but not sure if this is the right place. I am at 6 weeks and my weight loss has slowed a bit. I traveled quite a bit (three weekends in a row) and found it difficult on the road, but not impossible.

My four week blood work left me with an email from Dr. Cohen with a check list. I think I was using crackers that did not comply, plus I wondered about my tea. I was drinking a tea called "good earth" tea. I switched back to saltine crackers and dropped the tea and my weight loss picked up again.

I'm very accurate with my weighing. The only other thing I might be off on is using dried onion and trying to figure out how to count that in my weighing. Does anyone else use dried onion?

I made a dressing today that was really good. I used low fat cream cheese, balsamic vinegar and a pinch on dried mustard. I used the rest of the cream cheese with my crackers and it was a fun meal without a great deal of preparation.

AZKat's photos were so inspiring! I'm about half way there and have settled in to the fact that it might not all come off in the first 12 weeks. I also have accepted or created the goal of maintaining weight while traveling and then getting right back to my weighing when I get home.

My best to everyone.

{hi} there Everyone

Just wanted to say {goodjob} on the TICKERS - these are all looking so very GREAT!!! {cheerleader}

Swimmer: Your cream cheese dressing sounds very nice for on your veggies with your cheese meal!!! Mmmmm!!! Please don't use any dried foods such as dried onion while being on the program.

Shasha, I did stop using the dried onions. I have another question. I have been using the spice celantro on my fish and chicken. It is sort of like parsley. It is not fresh, but comes in a jar from the spices isle of the grocery store. Do you know if this is okay?

My weight loss has slowed down, I have lost 7 more pounds since my 4th week and I'm hit week 6 tomorrow.

Thanks,
Swimmer

{hi} there Swimmer

Well done on having lost another 7 pounds {goodjob} - remember your first month will always be your best, following that and providing that you continue to follow your eating plan 100% you should still see steady progress each month so: YOU GO GIRL!!! {cheerleader} all these 'little bits' ADD UP!!!

YOUR PROGRESS IS FANTASTIC!!!

YES, you are allowed to use cilantro (all green herbs in moderation to flavour your food are fine, fresh or dried) {bouncing}

Yes, I have lost 29 pounds! I feel wonderful and am fighting the urge to say, well I look pretty good now, why go for the other 30 pounds? I keep reminding myself that it is more about my health than how I look. I had gestational diabetes with all three pregnancies and I know what I'm doing is really helping me avoid getting Type II diabetes down the road. I'm not really concerned if I don't lose all my weight in the first 12 weeks. It has taken a whole longer to put it on and I have been carrying this weight for almost 16 years. I'm attaching a before and during picture here, hope it turns out.

I'm not great at posting, seems like I'm always putting things in the wrong spot, but I want you all to know that I do read them all when I get the chance and I appreciate the support extended out to everyone, everyday! It means a great deal to all of us. I posted an avatar of my family as this is the chief reason I started on this. I'm an old Mom who started late, had my first child at 36 and my last one at 40. I keep telling my kids I want to be around and healthy when they have kids. I need to be the "nana" some day!!!

Thanks again for the support. Still not able to get the ticker thing!!!!

Take care,
Swimmer

trying to include photos. Any ideas on how to do that?

GettinSkinny
03-27-2008, 03:03 PM
Yes, I can help with that since I just had to do that myself this past week. You will need to go to Quick Reply and then click on Go Advanced. Here you can enter your message and when you want to insert your picture, just click on the little icon that looks like a paper clip. This will open a box that will allow you to browse for your picture and upload it. You won't see it immediately -- you will have to preview your message to see it before posting. Hope that helps!!!!

Also read that you are still having problems with your ticker? What sort of problem are you having and maybe I can help with that too?

Dear Swimmer,

On the main Forum page, second topic from the top is "1st Personal Diet Tickers" - click on that and it will take you to the window where you can design your ticker and select a PIN for it. Once you've made your choices and saved them, you will be given the option of copying a link in HTML or BB code. Copy the BB code and then go to your Control Panel page. Select "Edit Signature" at the top left, and when the window appears, paste the BB code for your ticker into the box. Preview your signature to see that it works.

Easy!

Thanks MrsPeel. I think I got the ticker. My photos files are too large to download, that's sort of funny isn't. "Too Large". I'll have to see if I can change the file and make them smaller.

Have a great day!

Swimmer: :clapping3: This is one of the BEST reasons (motivators) that I've heard for dieting!!! :clapping3: YOU GO GIRL! Have you noticed how the ladies on their after pictures all seem to have turned back the clock? Well, you are going to do exactly that!!!

I'm just being curious now: Are you pleased that you had your children later in life or would you have preferred to start a bit earlier?

Amylynn: NICE TICKER GIRL!!! :party6:

Thanks for the post Shasha and Amylynn. I think things just work out the way they do in life for a reason. The only regret I have is that I would have loved to have more kids. I had trouble staying pregnant and suffered through four misscarriages. I'm just grateful for the three kids I have and that they are healthy. I was a full time swim coach until I moved to take a job in Colorado. My life finally slowed down enough for me to come up for air and I met my husband. He is a wonderful man, dad and husband. So, no real regrets. I feel very young at heart and I think my kids benefit from my "experience".

Thanks for asking. Interesting enough Dr. Cohen specialized in fertility. Wonder what would have happened had I found this diet earlier as my problem staying pregnant had to do with low progesterone.

Take care and talk more soon!

Hi Swimmer,

You sound like such an interesting and inspiring woman. Your children are lucky to have you and to be benefiting from your "experience"! I'm so happy you are taking back control of your body and health and are working through this diet with us. Keep the posts a comin'!

I saw in another thread that you are asking about exercise. I'm sure Shasha will answer, but in the meantime, everything I've read about working out on this diet is that you can, but be very careful since this diet does not take exercise into consideration and you really aren't eating enough to do heavy workouts. Be very cognizant of your energy, your body (are you getting too sore), and if you begin to feel dizzy or faint. Eat an apple prior to working out and be sure to eat your fruit and cracker allowance on the days you exercise. Take it slow at first so you can be sure you don't over-exert. I've just recently started doing some light weight training/cardio videos I've got and also walking and so far so good, but I'm definitely not pushing hard like I would if I were not on this diet. I'm excited for you to get to start swimming again as that will also remind you of why you are on this path now... Back to your toned, lean body!! Good for you!!!

{hi} there Future Skinnies!

:clapping3: Bronwyn - cos I could not have said it better... :bighug: only one little extra thingie that I would like to add: please take a second vitamin at lunchtime. If you exercise, your body is using more of it's precious nutrient reserves or intake... so it's a good idea to help your body where you can by giving it extra power packed vitamins etc.

Swimmer: I agree with you that everything happens for a reason and the way it should... just curious to know if you think it's more difficult being a Mom later in life than it would be maybe earlier or, if you think that you're better now because you have more patience, experience or time.

I don't know if the program will have made a difference because the hormones that Dr Cohen's eating plan balances are Insulin, Human Growth Hormone and Serotonin. The lowering of insulin normally helps in the case of POS. I don't know if the diet has any effect on progesterone levels.

Having three kiddies is a big blessing and it's very important that you do this 100% for them - not just to have a healthy Mom, but also to bring about little changes so that everyone in your home starts eating healthier too because of you!

Thanks Bronwyn and Shasha for the advise about exercising. I'm excited to swim again. I love it and feel best in the water. It is not like any other form of exercise for me. Now I have the benefit of not being too self conscious in my bathing suit. Never really kept me out of the pool, but now I will just feel better with how I look! I have not competed nationally in about 16 years or so, but have continued to swim for exercise pretty much my entire life. I will take it very slowly. It's actually nice to have the excuse that I can't push myself too hard in the beginning anyway!!!

As far as kids and being an older Mom; since I don't know any different I think it's just business as usual for us. I had my fun prior to marrying and having kids. I traveled; worked full time and was able to devote myself to my career. Now I have home office and enjoy being here for my kids. I always believed they needed a "stay at home Mom" when they were in middle school more than when they were babies. I want to be the one they talk to about the harder issues facing them these days when they come home from school. Can't do that if you don't get home until 6:00 in the evening. I found it completely difficult to work full time and give my kids, husband and myself the attention they deserved. And, guess who suffered the most...ME. Which is a chief reason I was so heavy. I neglected myself.

Interesting how clear that is now. So, I think now being in a place financially and comfortable in my own skin that I am exactly where I need to be. My oldest is 13. That means she will only be with us full time for 5 more years!!!! Crazy, scary and hard to believe. My youngest is 8. Only 10 more years with him. Just think of how fast 10 years has gone by. So, I believe I treasure this time with my kids because I am older and wiser. Especially since I lost my dad when I was 13!!! He was only 42 years old. Life it too short as it is.

I guess I have learned to love those in my life and am grateful everyday for all the wonderful gifts I have been given, with my family at the top of the list.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but since I don't get to post as often as I would like to, I thought I would pack in a lot.

As I sign off, I say with great admiration and appreciation that I think you are all wonderful. I appreciate the honestly and support we all give one another. It truly makes the journey special for me.

All my best to everyone and we look forward to seeing less of you tomorrow!!!!

Take care,
Swimmer

Hi Everyone ~

I'm new here and I too am having trouble getting the ticker included in the threads. I tried following some tips that were posted, but received error messages. Don't know what I should be doing that I'm not. Any other hints you guys could throw at me? Anything would be great!

Thanks!!

Thanks so much for your help on the ticker! I made progress and think I may have figured it out!! I found I was trying to put the url down in the "signature picture" box when it should have been put in the "edit signature box".

Bronwyn, Swimmer and Shasha ~ I love reading your posts, you are so inspiring and give me confidence I can do this too! Being new, I really do look forward to logging in and being able to experience this with other dieting buddies! I think Swimmer said it best when she wrote "All my best to everyone and we look forward to seeing less of you tomorrow!!!!":party4:
