View Full Version : My 8 Week Weigh In Results

8 weeks on the diet and here are my results:
beginning weight:206 lbs
beginning size/chest/waist/hips: 20/43/42/48

4 week weight: 189 lbs
4 week size/chest/waist/hips: 18/39/36/47

8 week weight: 179 lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8 week size/chest/waist/hips: down to a 16!! AND IT FEELS GREAT!! 38/35/44 (chest/waist/hips)

I am so excited that I lost 10 lbs in the second half of my diet. I was really nervous and I've truly slowed down on my h2o intake but this is VERY MOTIVATING! I think I'll even get myself a ticker now! I'll bring my h20 intake back up to keep this going. WOW! To think that I've lost 27 lbs in 2 months!!! I can't believe it! I've been dieting for over 10 years NOTHING has ever given me these kind of results and (honestly) I've never stuck 100% to anything this long. For all of you out there reading this: keep it up! There are times when it is difficult but rather than cheating, chew a piece of gum. It really helps to satisfy that "must eat" syndrom without comprimising the diet. It's worth it!! Good luck to all! YEAH!

Way to go FlwrGrlie! Yes - you have come a long way!!! Keep up the good work! I agree, the gum helps. I use it a lot at night when I used to like to have a snack. Now it gives me something to chew w/no calories, etc.

Thank you, Mama and Bronwyn for recognizing my accomplishment. I really appreciate it. I've been feeling down because normally so many people post to congratulate us on our accomplishements but only you two did (Which I REALLY appreciate!) and, like Mrs Peel said in her post, we all need those compliments. They help you stay on track and re-motivate you, especially when they come from people who really understand how hard you are working to meet these goals.

Hey Flwrgrlie!!
Sorry I didn't post a huge {congrats} comment earlier. I'm sooooo happy for you and you must be just grinning from ear to ear!! That's just awesome progress that you're making and it's no easy street is it? Keep doing what you're doing and we'll be looking at your "I've reached my goal" grin in no time!!
Big hugs

I am so HAPPY for you! I hope you'll accept my belated compliments. I try to log on and check things each day... but the only time I have is at work... and they monitor things so I am afraid to get on too much. :(

I think you are doing GREAT! And you should definitely be celebrating! I am celebrating my 4 week weigh in by getting a facial and threading for my eyebrows. And a massage. I'm using all the money I saved not eating out.

Isn't it AMAZING to see the numbers drop? Keep it up! :clapping3:

THANK YOU to everyone who posted. I REALLY appreciate it. I felt silly and childish by pouting but now I'm smiling! It makes such a HUGE difference to know that people are going through this with you and to be able to share all your triumphs and downfalls during this difficult journey has made all the difference for me.
Hugentobler - I'm so ready for another 4 weeks on this diet with you. Did you post your 8 week results? I'll have to look for them and send you congrat's.Sarah Leigh - WELCOME to this wonderful program! I wish you the best of luck. YOU CAN DO THIS! We're all here for support anytime you feel like deviating from the plan. That saved me a # of times!BarbieGRRRL - What a great way to celebrate your success! I might just have to plant that idea in my hubby's head so he'll take the kids and I can have some "me" time. Am I dating myself by asking what "threading for your eyebrows" is?Megsy - thank you for your support! Can't wait to see your "after" pictures!
Thanks, everyone. All of you really made me feel special and truely made my day.:cloud9::party3::D:bighug:

Threading is like plucking... except two strands of floss are used rather than tweezers. There is an Indian Salon near my home that does it. Not very expensive and MUCH less painful than waxing! Doesn't leave the horrid red marks either. The hair is supposed to grow in much finer and more slowly. I have one friend that does her whole face... makes the skin much smoother looking and supposed to make makeup application a breeze! I've never done my whole face yet... just eyebrows.

Hope you can talk hubby into watching the kids! I'll cross my fingers for you! Go pamper yourself lady! You deserve it!:flirt:

BarbieGRRRL,
Sounds interesting. I think I'd need to see it done before I was brave enough to try it myself. GREAT tip on the makeup applicaton, though. I was just examining my pores this morning...oh, what age does to us...Thanks for the info!

I posted them somewhere...Sorry I don't remember which thread.... I lost 11 lbs. (total of 28) and I lost another 6 inches- 2 from each area (total of 12 inches). How are things going for you? I NOW know the "true" meaning of a plateau. I haven't lost any weight this week. I am keeping up with my water and I have mixed up my meats on veggies-within my allowance. I know that my body is still breaking down the fat . (I keep reminding myself of that as I run to the bathroom from all of the water.) I'm also okay with the plateau because this is the week at work that 4 different people commented on my weight loss. So how can I feel down... Have you thought about what will happen at week 12? ...unless I lose 40 lbs. this month (don't I wish) I'm sure I'll be putting in more time. I wonder how much...

Bronwyn
03-27-2008, 05:53 PM
Amylynn, our journeys are so similar!!! I have been the same weight for a week now too and am not letting it get me down either. I know my clothes are continuing to feel looser and I am looking better and better. I'm at our corporate office today for a meeting (I only see these people a few times a year) and they all are amazed at how I look which is making me feel like Queen for the Day! Yes, I have thought about if I need to go beyond the 12 weeks and I've made peace with that. Whatever it takes, I'm in it for the long haul. I am more dedicated than ever to stick with this 100% though because let's face it... I WANT THAT REFEED PROGRAM!!! Hang tough sister! We'll get there!

Hi Bronwyn & Hugentobler, Yikes! We all must be on the same 'schedule' or feeling the after effects of the full moon and change of seasons! I have been the same weight for the week as well, and have been thinking that most likely I'll have to go past the 12 week mark too. I was hoping to be done by then, but have 26 pounds to go, and I don't see that happening in the next 5 weeks. But, like you said, "whatever it takes"!

Here's to getting through this together!

lfulwood
03-28-2008, 08:51 AM
I too am facing more than the 12 weeks. It is my own fault though as I did not drink all the water in the first 8 weeks. I now am down to 14 days and still 18 pounds away. I don't really have the $$ to spend for another go around, as I am a full time student. I could just kick myself for not starting out correctly!!!!!! It will be a miracle to pull within that 5 pound mark to get the refeeding program by the end of this 12 weeks.

There does seem to be a lot of re-uppers out there. Can any of you share your experiences? Is it worth the money for the refeeding program?
I know I can continue losing the weight and then experiment for myself when the time comes.

Call me...torn!

hi, lfulwood!!

we seem 2 b in the xact same time-frame.
2day i'm also 14 days away from my program-xpiring-date and am sure not 2 b where i should b weightwise (only a guess, as i havent weighed myself- :party1:- they said, i shouldnt and i dont -the rite opposite 2 the beginning, where i weighed 6 weex every day.. i'm a weirdo, i know!!).

i am also responsible 100% 4 not having reached my goal-weight!
one reason is also the water- i didnt drink enough the first weex,
another one is that i deviated a little since my babies accident with fruiz and cracker-allowances.
and the best is: i took olive-oil and mixed it with grape-seed-oil, as this is known 2 help losing weight (there r studies about being on diet with or without the grape-seed-oil and the testers who took it, lost way more weight than the ones who went without fat)-
so, i thought i was smart and only now found out -or bcame aware that there shouldnt b any seeds on the diet!
i'll check with my consul again, but am quite sure, i deserve a fat kick in the butt- if i'd reach, i would have done it myself already!! {bangdesk}{duh}{bangdesk}

now, i think i will stay on the diet as long as i want and as long as i can take my oobie-shrinking (it slowed down and my hips and bum melted more, lately) and start refeed as soon as i reach my personal limit. i asked already 4 refeed and think iz an xtra-motivation, 2 have the plan and know i can stop whenever i want.

in case one is further away from goal-weight than we r and might need an additional plan adjustment, i think those r better off doing another round, but i think u and me could do the "rest of the journey" freehand..

please shasha, sec and wilma, dont quarter me!!

Hi Iisrias and Ifulwood! Not happy that you're experiencing the same thing, but happy that we all can relate to each other so well. I have found that in these boards as soon as one person voices a concern there seem to be so many people who feel the same way, or just went through a similar experience.

Ifulwood, I can relate to the money issue so am sorry to hear that is a concern. I will say, though, that I've made peace with the fact that I may have to pay more to complete this program. I consider with all the money I've spent the last 15 years or so trying to lose weight - Weight Watchers meetings and food, books, pills, etc. and none of those worked, if I have to spend an additional $170 then that is what I'll do. Nothing has worked better for me than this diet and after seeing my sister's results and reading some the of posts by people who've done the refeed I am sure that is the only way to go. I would worry that if you go at it alone you will gain the weight back and then all the sufferin' you've been through so far will be in vain and you'll have to start all over again anyway. Just something to think about. I know it's hard. Do consider also, how much money you must be saving not eating out. Even fast food adds up in cost!! Please let us know what you decide to do so we can help you through no matter what.

Hi Ifulwood and Cyberella,
I know I'm not a moderator, but i have to tell you that I am doing this program because I have seen it work first hand. Years later and they still look fabulous. I don't know of any other diet that has lasting results like this one as long as you do the whole program, including the re-feeding. The first time I heard of this diet was from a friend who had lost 40+ pounds and went from frumpy to svelt. She was 15 pounds from her goal weight and decided she was pretty well off and didn't continue. That was a couple years ago and she has not gained it all back, but she is not the size 8 she was before.

Now, I also ran into another girl over a year ago. She came up to me and asked how I was doing and said she hadn't seen me in ages and that her husband and her had wondered what me and my husband were up to. I smiled and nodded and the whole time my mind was racing to figure out who she was. She was vaguely familiar, but nothing was clicking. I smiled and asked how her husband was doing (and I hoped she'd mention his name so I could figure out who she was). That never came up. So she continued talking and I knew I had no idea, nor was it going to come to me. She was this beautiful, slim, bright and wonderful person who i apparently knew years ago???? Afterwards she walked off to do something while I sat there pondering her identity - then it hit me and I jumped up and ran after her. I said, "Oh my gosh, are you Kimberly????" to which she stood there for a minute and looked at me like I was an idiot - then she smiled and said, "Yeah. Who did you think I was?" I was mortified, but i just told her that she looked incredible and I sincerely didn't recognize her. She smiled immediately and understood. she had been slim for over a year and had lost over 100 pounds on 1PD. She did the full program and the the re-feeding and she still looks fabulous.

all I'm saying is that it is the whole program that works and the other point to consider is this; you can still lose weight if you follow this diet, but that is only part of it. The most important point is the hormonal balance and that is what keeps you young and healthy for life (at least that's what I understand it to be).

Anyway, that's my 2 cents (for what it's worth). I think you both should do the whole the program even if it costs more - besides, you will save money in the long run :)

Hello girls! Cyberella - you crack me up! Lock your doors - the Cohen police are on the way...

Seriously though, Ifulwood, don't skip refeed! From what I understand, if re-feed isn't done properly (or at all) then all your hard work will be for nothing! The re-introduction of food to your system has to be done the right way, otherwise it's back to elastic waist pants! No one wants that...

Bronwyn, I totally agree with what you said - we'll be here to support each other through "thick" and thin!:)

cyberella
03-29-2008, 01:10 AM
sorry, girls,
if i didnt come across all that clearly!! {bangdesk}

i didnt mean 2 suggest 2 anyone not 2 do refeed!!! i'm 199% sure that refeed is the trick that does the trick!!

all i tried 2 xpress is the idea of starting refeed mayb 2 weex after program end.
i asked 4 refeed as i plan on doing it soon, but if i realize that the refeed option is giving me xtra-motivation or i suddenly slow down in progress, i can always do some "xrta-diet-days" and do refeed mayb 10 days later, or whenever..

if i obviously had much more overweight rite now, i'd sure go 4 another 12!!

ya, i think the cohen :cop: will have a word with me!! :hypnotic:

To Hugentobler, Bronwyn, Iisrias, Ifulwood, Cyberella and everyone else I'm thankful to be on this journey with all of you. I'm looking forward to another 12 week run (once these next 3 weeks are up!) Hopefully, in that time frame we will all MEET OUR GOALS TOGETHER!! I am REALLY looking forward to seeing everyone's after photos! We are an inspiration to all newcomers to this journey.:weights:

Ifulwood, I'm with you on the $$ thing but I think everyone is right - it's money well spent and worth every penny. So many people mess up a diet that they've worked so hard at completing by going it on their own. We all have a lot to learn about proper eating and what the effect the foods we choose have on our bodies - that's why we're here! I've seen my mom lose 50+ lbs on Jenny Craig, Nutrasystem and Weight Watchers. They all worked for her but she never did the follow up and once she reached her goal she went back to her old habits and gained the weight back each time! I'm taking those experiences from my mom and using them for me! I am dedicated to NOT GAIN THIS WEIGHT BACK!! I saw the uphill battle she fought everytime and I know what it did to her state of mind- I don't want that. I've worked to hard to let it all go. So I'm willing to invest the money one more time to give me the tools to keep it off!!!! I wish you and everyone in these forums the best of luck. You can always post if you're feeling stressed, we'll all be here for you. BEST OF LUCK! :peace:

I noticed a post where one of our members said that she has requested the re-feeding before she reached her target weight and plan to continue this by herself starting the re-feeding when the target is reached sometime in the future ….

The re-feeding calculation by Dr Cohen is done in view of all blood tests but especially the last report. In doing so, Dr Cohen assumes that you are at your target weight or very close to it (5 lbs / 2Kg) !!!! The re-feeding has less chances of working for you as planned if you do this in any other way.

Taking the re-feeding too early is just not worth it. You put so much effort into this project of losing weight and looking great but then risk it when you come so close to the end ….. you will probably see those pounds slowly creeping back even if you do follow all the tips for 'Life After The Diet'.

If you like the results so far – please trust Dr Cohen and follow the rules.

Shasha

{hi} there Everyone

Chips, the :cop: Cohen Cops are out... LOL {rofl}

The Refeeding Program and doing it properly is VITAL TO YOUR CONTINUED SUCCESS... remember, we want this to be the last diet that you ever go on!!! and IF you do it properly, it can be!!

So, if you have come this far, there is no point in not walking the full mile.

You should ever only request your Refeeding Program when you are 5 pounds away from your goal weight.

Which brings me to the question about your goal weight if Dr Cohen has recommended a goal weight of say between 130 and 136 pounds please remember that Dr Cohen cannot see you. He does not know if you have a small, medium or large frame size. If you have a small frame, your goal weight would be 130 pounds, if you have a large frame, your goal would be 136 pounds.

Only when you reach 5 pounds from your actual goal should you request Refeeding, so if you have a large frame, you should request Refeeding at 141 pounds. If however you have a small frame, you should only request Refeeding at 135 pounds.

If you have set your personal goal weight lower than what is recommended, you should only request your Refeeding Program when you are 5 pounds away from your personal goal weight.

Moving your goal weight up is not recommended. If you still carry excess fat your body will be prone to storing fat and then you could end up gaining weight too easily. Have you ever noticed how you gain weight faster the more overweight you become. This is why we always recommend that you try your very best to reach the goal that Dr Cohen has recommended for you.

Remember, this is for a limited time only ~ so please do the program 100% correctly.
YOU CAN DO IT!!! Where there is a will, there IS A WAY!!! {cheerleader}

I am so excited to say I lost 25 pounds when I weighed in yesterday for my 4 weeks weigh in! I started at 249 and weighed in at 224. But the inches are what makes me happy! I do't feel like I have a shelf attached to my behind! Though I am limited on my time to post with 4 kids (and preparing for the food for this diet :)) I do read all your posts to eachother, and they keep me focused and supported! Hi all,

I have been out of town, but finished my 8th week last Friday. I'm happy to report that I am down 35 pounds. The first four weeks I lost 23, the next four weeks I lost 12. I'm very happy with my results. I actually went shopping at Marshalls and was able to buy size 14 pants. I'm down from size 18 (plus) when I started.

I have decided that I will do the renewal at 12 weeks and asked permission to do my blood test in the 14th week. I am going to my high school reunion and actually am traveling pretty much every weekend in April. So, this gives me some flexibility to enjoy my reunion and then get back to strict program for two weeks before I have to do my blood work.

Anyway, sorry to be out of touch for so long. I will catch up on all the post and write more again later.

My best to everyone.

I’m thrilled to hear that you now fit into a size 14 pants – HOW WONDERFUL THAT IS!

When you write to your consultant remember to mention that you will be travelling so they can provide you with some travel tips…

In the meantime, please keep following your eating plan 100%... YOU ARE DOING REALLY GREAT!!!

Thanks Shasha. I'm thrilled with my result. I did get some tips about traveling. I have a friend who travels quite a bit and it took her a bit longer to lose the weight as a result. I figure if I can at least stay with the appropriate food and eyeball the portions, that will at least keep me steady on those weekends I have to travel.

I'm not at all worried about it as my weight loss always seems to pick back up.

I try to schedule my travel so that at least on the travel day I can eat breakfast and take my lunch with me on the plane. On the way home. I try to make it home for at least one meal.

If you have any other ideas, let me know. I do know that I'm cold so much of the time. Is this because I don't have the body fat that I use to or does it have something to do with the metabolism?

Talk to you soon,
Swimmer

{hi} there Swimmer

I'm glad to hear that you got the travel tips {goodjob}

As you mention being cold - please know that your body will take a bit of time to adapt to the missing insulation ie fat, that use to help to keep you warm. I recommend that you keep warm and eat warm foods ie: soup or cooked foods even stir fry with curry as opposed to salad. You may also drink your water warm because this helps quiet a few Dieters to overcome the cold.

I recommend that you make chicken soup (warming and filling) by microwaving your cut chicken with a bit of onion, celery, cauliflower, zucchini, some spinach and some salt and herbs in a cup of boiling water. Once the chicken is cooked (about 7 minutes) put the above pieces into a blender. You may add a cracker or two to thicken while blending. ENJOY! You may even add some plain fibre husks to this as they will help to keep you feeling full and keep you regular at the same time!

Please don't forget to dress warmly - this is a major key in keeping warm.

Here's a BIG hug :bighug: to warm your :love4:!

Hi Swimmer!

I think you're off to a good start with your travel plans. I do the same thing - eat breakfast at home and take a salad to go. If I'm gone for only a couple of days I will sometimes take two salads since you can usually find a refrigerator anywhere and then I have an extra 1PD meal while I'm gone.

Re: being cold - YES!!! I have had several nights where it's ridiculous. My husband will be in a tee shirt and shorts and I'll be in flannel pants, two sweatshirts, socks, slippers, a robe, AND a blanket and I'll still be cold. It's not all the time, but now and then and I'm sure it's as Shasha says that my body is adjusting to not having the fat to keep me warm. I will drink warm tea and that helps. The newest thing I'm doing is heating up one of those bean-bag type things that you use to put on sore muscles and cuddle up with that. It's working really well. It doesn't help that I run cold normally.

{hi} there Bronwyn

YES, being cold is NOT a nice feeling at all... {noway}

But thankfully that little bean bag of yours can work wonders. For those who don't have a microwave bean bag, the good old fashioned hot water bottle will also do the trick!

And, if all else fails, try having a nice hot bath - but don't linger in it too long because the water only gets cold again. Stay until you are warm and then dry and dress quickly.

If you feel cold, warm foods are a must! Even drinking your water warm works well... and of course there is tea and coffee... and snuggling up early in bed with your :party8:

The cold thing is a bit much. I'm also always bundled up under the blankets while my husband is trying to kick off the extras I've added to the bed. :)
For the most part I've gotten used to it - the hands are the worst. Even though we've had an unusually cold spring I've gotten some weird looks when I have my gloves on.

Now I'm really into layering and that seems to help. As does the warm water - I'm going to have to try that chicken soup - it sounds good. I haven't really done any soups yet, to warm up I've been having cracker-breaded cod and some cooked veggies, or my new favorite buffalo burger. YUM!

Thanks for the great ideas on keeping warm. I'm just hoping spring comes sooner rather than later. We will hit 70 on Monday that will help. Then next weekend I'm back in Phoenix. I know I'll warm up there for sure.

Bronwyn, you are getting so close to your goal! I figure I have about 20 pounds until the re-feed. What week are you on?

Talk more soon,
Swimmer

Hi Swimmer - I'm just finishing up week 11. I am getting close and anxious! I'm very ready for refeed and am so excited that this diet just keeps on working so am finding it relatively easy to stay motivated.
