Hello just wanted to introduce myself, I am new to the thread I have been on the program 5 weeks and lost 15 pounds.
I am struggling a little the last several days, cravings? Haven't had that before, PMS maybe. Especially for sweets and I never eat sweets.
Has anyone else struggled with this during this time? I really appreciate everyones insite. Love reading the threads.
thanks for your time.

Ensignc- Welcome to the forum!:hii: I am completing my week 8. Week 5-6 were tough for me. I too started having cravings at that point. I made sure that all the tempting food was out of the house (even threw away my son's brownies). I also kept a bottle of water in my hands at all time. Good luck. Hang in there and enjoy the changes in your body. They really start to show at this point in the diet.

Hi Ensignc,
Welcome to the message boards :party1:

I know exactly what you are going through because I just started having the same thing. The only thing I can suggest is to read through the recipe threads under the "Something Yummy" thread. There are lots of great ideas for tasty treats to get you through this craving. Oh! Also, if you are lacking in vitamin C, then it can cause cravings for sweets, too. In the meantime, check out the recipes. This morning I had yogurt with one whole apple (which I sliced and boiled and added cinnamon to), then I added the apple to my yogurt and the cinnamon that had reduced down and it was scrumptious!

Hope that helps! Keep us posted on your success.

I will try that again, still new to this system. I wanted to thank everyone for their responses, some great ideas and it is always nice to know we are not in this alone. It is so worth the commitment

Hi Ensignc - welcome! We're at just about the same point in the diet (I have more to go than you do however) but I've actually found that smelling things helps! I'll take the biggest breath in and smell as much as I can. The craving will often go away. It sounds weird and my family thinks I'm crazy - but it works for me. Good luck!

{hi} there Ensignc

And a very WARM WELCOME to you :bighug:

It's so nice having you on the Forum... at least we know that when you are visiting with us, you are not visiting with the Cookie Monster!

My advise would be to know yourself and to help yourself as much as you can during this challenging time...

Often cravings can be your body's way of asking for extra nutrients so taking a second vitamin at lunchtime can very well help with this, especially if your cravings are pre-mens.

Other times cravings can indicate making a mistake on your diet - such as not drinking enough water.

Some Dieters find that when the get tired and don't get enough sleep they experience cravings.

Best advise would be to CLEAR THE HOUSE and make your environment a safe place. It's easier to get cookies out the cupboard if they are there, but you are not likely going to get into your car and drive to the shops to get some. So, cleaning up your house by giving cookies etc away is a {goodjob}

Know that most cravings only last a little while... it helps when you don't say I'm not allowed this or that, but when you say a LOUD NO, I choose not to eat this or that.

Sometimes I find that a cup of nice sweet coffee does the trick... reading a good book can take your mind off any temptation...

Hoping these help - just remember, this is for a limited time only and YOU CAN DO IT!!! You are clearly NOT alone {cheerleader}

hey candice!
welcome and "nice 2 meet u"!!

about the smell thaz not crazy at all-- :party1:
i live SMELLING food i'm not going 2 eat since i'm vegetarian, just about 15 years now!

when i stopped eating meat, just like i stopped smoking (IT JUST STOPPED), i once in a while missed it (as i grew up in a butcher-shop) and tried it about once or twice again, as it smelled soo very nice. :drool:
the outcome was frustrating, as the taste didnt keep what the smell promised- {pot}

only long later i found out that the taste-buds in the nose r billions or so, while the ones on the tongue were very limited in comparison!

so, i bcame a "smelly"- very often that really does the trick, as i know now: thaz as good as it gez- tasting isnt better, but even more boring!!

funny enough- last nite i thought of posting this 2 all of u 2 help with the cravings!!

hug ya all- {grouphug1}

:party1:You are all wonderful and I am so glad to see so many wonderful people making a healthy change in their lives, it is extremely motivating. Also good to know we are not alone, especially when one has a husband who refuses to get healthy and eats so badly, I would call him an enabler....makes things a little tougher. I just know before I hit 40 I want to get in to great shape both inside and out. Thanks for all of the support and great ideas. Congrats to all of you and look forward to hearing from all of you again soon

HA HA HA HA!! Cyberella you are so funny! I forgot to mention that I have a friend who does the same thing. She's content to just get a big whiff of something yummy and then is satisfied. Sometimes that works for me, but then my bell rumbles and wants to put the something yummy in it! Another thing I thought of, thanks to Cyberella, is how often that is true that things smell better than they taste. Popcorn at the movies for instance always smells amazing and it NEVER tastes as good as it smells.

Thanks for help, you mentioned taking a second vitamin, what supplement do you recommend and how much of the vitamin C (mg)

...in candice's case means getting rid of her husband, i believe!
candice posted that she has a husband with bad eating habits-
well how should she get the stuff out of the house?
he will certainly bring new ones along!
i know what it means 2 have no support!

and i dont mind by now!
the easter-chocolate is everywhere and i dont care!
i even bought it and put it in little baskez on the table-
and the house was never free of sweez-
iz our own decision 2 not have any..

and i'd say: we r no kids anymore and we can do this with or without support, :weights:
rite, candice?

getting rid of the husband could be an option :hypnotic:

But cyberella is right, it just gets to the point where you are immune to the stuff around the house, I have my bad habits husband and a 12 year old son, so there will always be temptation, what I am learning about myself is you just have committ to yourself, and I know after the amount of weight I have lost I dont' want to go backwards, that cookie or chips and salsa just isn't worth it.

Candice, here's my trick and it really seems to work. I also have a bad eating habits husband and 12-year-old. All of their junk food is kept in our pantry. I keep all of my diet foods in a separate cabinet. That way, when it is time for me to fix my meals, I only see my stuff. I never open the pantry door. That way, it's never in front of me and I am never tempted. Yes, it's still in the house, but this little trick has worked really well for me. Hope my suggestion helps you too!!

Hey GettinSkinny -- VERY WELL DONE on your first 10.5 pounds gone!

I too had "my cabinet" of food; however I was unable to cope with the smell of bacon in my space during the diet and was unable to cook it for others...I asked my family if they'd be willing to sacrifice bacon for me, and they all said yes, they would! So even though this was my journey, it actually helped my family to be able to help me succeed -- and my husband actually lost 40 pounds "vicariously" while I was on the diet. His cholesterol levels are better too!

Hey Gail, I guess I am lucky in that I am the only cook in the house, so I can control the smells to some degree. :) Luckily, neither my husband nor my daughter are bacon eaters, else I fear I would have the same problem, since I absolutely looooooooooooooooooove bacon!!!! Thanks for the kudos on the weight loss!!! :love3:

Dear Candice,

first I´ll apoligize my english... I´ve learn it at school long time ago...

Tomorow is my fist day on this programm and I´m so excited... it will be some hard days at the beginning they said.

I have an idea about your PMS problem with craving for sweets. I have good experience with nautral progesterone creme. It helps to disapear the symptoms of PMS. You can ask the 1st PDT if you can use this cream. Here is a website were you can by it...

Wonderful thank you for the advice about the hormone cream I know we can't have links here but I will look into it. Would certainly help, it is the only time I have struggled with this diet.
You will love this program it really really works. I am to my 7 week mark and am down 18 pounds, only about 6-11 to go. Not sure where my best weight will be.
