I started the 1PD last year, but began a heavy travel schedule with work and it just was not possible to maintain the guidelines. Things have calmed down and I want to start the program again...

I plan to use the diet info I have and then contact the 1PD group when I get close to goal for the re-feeding program. Just want some feedback from the moderators if I should do something else or if anyone else has stopped for an extended period of time and restarted.

Thanks - Sosielynn

I also did the 1PD last year, but had to stop because of health reasons. I am restarting as soon as I receive my new diet. I still had my information from last year, but I opted to just register again and get a new diet plan, because I felt that my body may have changed since I received my diet plan last year, and I wanted to make sure I was doing the diet exactly right. Also, I don't know if you can contact them for just the refeed. It is my understanding that he uses the blood tests that you have done during the 12 week period to create your refeed, basing it on how your body reacted to the diet during that time. I had my bloodwork done on Monday but ate my normal way until then. On Tuesday, I began following my former diet plan, just to get a head start until I receive my new plan. It will be interesting to see what the moderators say about using your previous plan...

:flower:hi, sosielynn!!
i'm no moderator- thaz y i didnt want 2 answer, but i asked the consultanz b4 about the refeed and they r very strict about it- :cop:
just like gettingskinny said, i dont think they will help u with the refeed only if u didnt sign up 4 a new round!!!! :eyebrow:

and even if u already did the blood-test while being on your old plan might not suit them, as i read in a post that your blood has 2 show your "normal"- undieted- hormon-levels! (if i got that rite)
i think u should tell the consultanz that u did your old plan while the blood was taken!

i hope everything worx out just perfect 4 u!!
i wish u loz and loz of motivation and success!!!! :)

Thanks so much for your comments GettinSkinny and Cyberella. And after reading the re-feeding thread, I realized I do not want to get stuck at the end without a re-feeding plan or I probably end up back where I started!

I bet there are quite a few folks like me who are former plan participants lurking on the boards and want to get started again (or maybe have) but do not know if a new blood test is best; if the can use their old plan and just call up for a refeeding plan.

So, I'll wait a day and see if a Shasha or Secretary respond....and in the mean time I will hunt for the consultants email. Either way - I will post what I learn -because the information everyone posts here is soooo helpful!

Hi Sosielynn!

Welcome back! Yes - I'm sure the moderators and/or secretary will let you know for sure, but you probably really need to start over completely. The blood test that your first diet is based upon is based upon "old results". There's no telling what changes your body may have gone through and if you're going to do this, might as well do it right! Best of luck to you & keep us posted!

Sosielynn, just wanted to let you know that I just received my new blood test results and I've been comparing them to my original test results and one month follow-up test results from when I did the diet last year. There are some differences. All of my tests were within normal ranges every single time, and the changes seem really small, but of course, I am no doctor and I have no idea how much change is small or significant. :) I think the real measure will be when I receive my new diet to see if he will be making any changes to it from before. But again, with all of this said, it could be entirely different for you, and you will still need to start again to be able to get the correct refeed program. Just wanted to share my results. I'll let you know if my diet has changed any when I receive it. Good luck!!!

{hi} there Sosielynn & all my precious smart Diet Buddies

The girls are 100% right! You should not try to follow your former eating plan because your body would have changed over the months. The very best you can do is go for your blood tests and start again with a new eating plan. Your diet will be different from the former one in the amounts you can eat and perhaps in how often you can eat which foods, all depending on Dr Cohen's calculations for you based on your current blood test results.

Dr Cohen requires your follow up blood tests within certain time period intervals and if this is not done, your blood tests become inaccurate because they are too far apart. For this reason no Refeeding Program can be given to you based on last year's diet program.

Quiet a few clients who do attempt to go back onto old diet plans find that they just can't seem to stick to it which results in them going on and off and on and off the program - doing this is really disruptive to your hormones and is completely not recommended.

My best advise will be for you to re-join the program to do it correctly and join us in the Forum so that you can reach your goal and complete your Refeeding Program!

Sosielynn, just wanted to "weigh in" one last time to let you know that I received my new diet program and it is very different from the one I had last year.... I now have two chicken and two fish options for meal 2, no fish option for meal 3, and meals 1 and 2 both have a cheese option.... so, w-o-w, very different from what I had before. So, definitely need to re-join and get a new plan. My numbers didn't seem all that different in my new blood work, but obviously Dr. Cohen saw something I couldn't. That's why it's his diet, huh? :) Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

{hi} there GettinSkinny

I'm not sure that I actually want to ask this question because I'm a bit scared of scratching where it doesn't itch, but curiosity gets the most of me and so now I'm going to ask: have you in the last 3 months been eating more fish that you previously did? It's just a question...

Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for me to eat fish at one of my meals almost every day. Usually tuna, shrimp or tilapia. Do you think that was one reason for the change in my diet program? And is that good or bad?

Okay, Shasha, curiosity has gotten the better of me. :innocent4: I responded to your question above but don't think you ever wrote back? I said: "Yes, I have. Now, I'm even more curious about your question because I took one of those home total cholesterol tests and it showed my cholesterol at 139, which is darn good. Of course, I realize that it doesn't show my good versus bad cholesterol, but for a total number, it looks good. I am not sure about the accuracy of those home tests, but here's hoping it's right.

I don't see where Dr. Cohen checks our cholesterol numbers, unless it's on the blood test and I just don't recognize which numbers give that information. So, I am more than a little curious as to how he makes the decision regarding how much fish we need to be eating. Do you know?

Thanks!!!

Hey GettinSkinny -- I don't have the answer to your question (and because I'm allergic to fish I quietly said to myself 'glad I never had to think about it' ;-)...but I just wanted to say VERY WELL DONE on losing 14.5 pounds!!! That's fabulous! I'll bet you feel very different (I sure did!). Keep on going!

{hi} there GettingSkinny

Thanks so much for writing back... there are so many, many posts to read everyday that I sometimes get a bit lost LOL and that's what happened here... I remember asking you, but had no idea of where... so thanks for the patience :flirt:

So, now that we are back on the same page, let me start by saying I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA on how Dr Cohen calculates your Personal Eating Plan.

I know he does NOT use a cholesterol test (GREAT that yours is doing good!) but he uses your Liver Function, your Kidney Function and your Fasting Glucose Test results to calculate your specific eating plan.

Most clients have the option of fish twice a day. Some even have it 3 times a day. Because you only have fish once a day, it would seem to me that Dr Cohen can see from your blood test results that you have been eating quiet a bit of fish (I DON'T KNOW HOW), but it seems like you are being told to eat meat or chicken once a day so that you don't end up choosing fish twice a day (which you may very well do if you could) because this is what your body needs to restore balance.

I've heard of similar things when some client eats chicken every day, low and behold, they are given a chicken option ONCE A DAY only, forcing them as it were to eat more fish and meat to bring about the correct balance. I have NO IDEA how Dr Cohen can see this from a simple blood test result!!

This is just something I found interesting. Not even a theory, just a thought... I must also say, that it does not always work that way, occasionally someone will have a diet that only gives one chicken option and then they have told me they hardly ever eat chicken.

I think that this all has to do with what each person's body needs or can handle to bring about the correct balances.

The above is just something that I've noticed and, it gives me even more respect and awe for Dr Cohen's program because he can really see what you've been doing and he knows how to bring about the correct balance in your hormones.

Dr Cohen knows just what your body need to be restored to health and wellness {goodjob} Dr Cohen :clapping3:

The way I understand your program, you've been eating more fish and Dr Cohen is saying it's okay for you to choose fish once a day, but you also need to have meat and chicken to be balanced.

Oh well, those just my thoughts ~ maybe not even worth anything, but FREE ...LOL
