Team -
Hey everyone, never really liked using forums but I figure this is a little more than just a bunch of people who like "aerosmith" or "George Clooney". So I think I'll sit this one in...
Greetings from Sunny AZ And i've just completed my first day on the job on 1PD and its going smooth. A regular of atkins this diet is right up my alley.
Not able to keep my weight stable over the past 10 years I've been from 230 to 280 to 230 to 270 to 220 and now all the way up to 310. Used to dieting, and my body is used to atkins and the shock.... we'll see how well this new plan works.
So far I've seen the results of this program first hand. Someone I work with completed and lost 100lbs. and Currently the guy who got me started is down about 40lbs.
I hopefully can offer some great suggestions in regards to meal preperation and maximizing the effectiveness while on the diet.
Goal weight is 210 although I dont think I've weighted less than that even when I played 5 sports in highschool.... Its going to be interesting if I can meet that desired weight, Im 6'4 and carry even 300 pounds very well.
Thanks for the support and I'll see you guys on the other side.

Hi, JadeHawk! I'll take that bet - you're going to lose it ALL. MY husband (Forum name: MrPeel) has lost 25 lbs. in his 1st 8 weeks, and I have lost over 40. 1PD is remarkably effective and we're both feeling great!
I look forward to hearing your recipe suggestions - we all need that variety to stay on track.

Welcome Jadehawk!!
So glad you are joining our forum and that you have joined 1PD. It does work, really well, and I think you're going to be thrilled with the results. The most amazing thing does seem to be people's ability to KEEP the weight off when they're finished, which is something I find doesn't ring true with most other diets. Yes - we'll look forward to your recipes and cooking suggestions. In my experience, men are most often the best cooks! It'll be nice to have more testosterone on the boards too. Mr. Peel will probably also like the company.

Welcome JadeHawk.
I am originally from AZ, now living in Colorado. I have been on the program for a little over four weeks. I had my first weigh-in last Friday. I lost 23 pounds the first month, but more importantly I lost a ton on inches from my waist and hips.
I love the program and believe it is a health and lifestyle change that will be lasting. I wish you the best of luck. I have experimented quite a bit with the food and cooking. I love to cook. I made chicken stir-fry last night and used my mango in there with some hot pepper for spice. It was really good.
Best of luck to you and much success!

Guys -
Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope to be able to contribute greatly to this group and share in your successes.
And im glad to close the gender gap even if just for a little bit. hahaha.
I know they say not to weight yourself only every month. But im doing some extensive workouts with this diet too, so I might need to weigh more frequently. That with the right time to drink coffee and eat your fruit before/after the workout you can really make your metalobism kick into overdrive.
So far my 1st month is going to be a little intense, And heres my plan...
Workout 5 days a week.
Wakeup - Coffee - workout - then Meal 1 w/ water : Yogurt w/ Grapefruit.
By Drinking coffee (personally - Im no dietition) The caffene raises your metalobism and allows me to go longer durring the workout, plus I feel myself run hotter because of the coffee. Fruit and carbs (yogurt/grapefruit) Gives your body back energy to keep you going throughout the day after the workout. and the meat/veggies (protien) will sustain your hunger.
Meal 2/3 : And here is where you can draw the best of your meals - Night before prepare Thinly sliced or "strips" of top sirloin or chicken breast and also the veggies. - By slicing it thin you allow for smaller bites which makes you feel your eating more. ALso by slicing you add more surface area of your meal so the spices and seasoning can cover more of your food, making it tastier. Stiry fry W oil is my personal fave.
Italian seasoning and Curry are probably going to be my best friends durring this first month..
Its going to be a grind. But I'll let you know how it works at the end of the month ----
Inital weigh in is 311. I think I can break 270 by april 10th.
I'll keep you guys up to speed on how this plan works out.
Anyone know how keen they are with taking diet suppliments durring the diet? Or even going as far as getting HGH therapy durring the diet?
lol, yeah... Im not messing around on this thing. :)

Hi JadeHawk and a BIG welcome !!!
You certainly sound like an experienced dieter and thank you for sharing your experience with the group.
You may be able to continue with your previous workout, however, I suggest that you listen to your body as many customers on this program reported a need to slow down their training because of the smaller food intake. We had athletes who reported that they stopped their training for the duration of the program.
:weights2:
Dr Cohen recommends that customers do not start new sport activities while on the program. They may continue with their previous sporting activities but with the knowledge that they may need to slow down with the pace or even stop it completely if they feel hungry, tired or even dizzy. I personally felt dizzy at the beginning of my program when I jumped up from my seat for some reason.
Yogurt and grapefruit for breakfast sounds great. I love these myself. But I want to share with you that many customers reported that while they are working out, the yogurt meal choice is not enough for them and that they found that the egg meal works for them the best.
You mentioned "oil" in your food. I hope you just use a little spray of Pam, as this is a low-fat diet ;)
Finally, please keep us posted about your progress {motorcycle}

Hi JadeHawk!
I'm also a newbie and like you, I have a few friends who have successfully completed 1PD and look great now. Your determination is awesome and I know you will do it. For the record, I know two people personally who have completed this program AND the re-feeding plan, and they have never gained the weight back, so this is the real deal.
Please keep us posted. It's very inspiring!

Wow JadeHawk!! You are one determined individual. I can't wait to hear about your progress in the weeks ahead. Yes, do be careful of the exercise and just be sure to really listen to your body. My sister (has completed this diet already) found that she had to stop her workouts altogether as she was completely drained of energy, almost to a crippling effect. The consultants made her stop workouts altogether and then she was fine, still lost all her weight and now looks like a super model and has been back to her workout routine.

Guys --
Thanks for the info!
for Wilma - haha yeah buy oil I mean a dash of olive oil cooking spray! oops. haha.
for cyberella - I played many sports, soccer, football, track, wrestling, swimming.. you name it I was there. Maybe once I get done with the program I can join a AZFL football league.... Might not be a lineman anymore tho.. haha
Dont doubt yourself, you are just as courageous and committed as the rest. -- Heres an interesting thing that you can take to anyting you do in life.
Its called "Self Talk"
Your own verbage in how you talk and talk to yourself actually determine your own actions!
Prime examples are for people who are trying to quit smoking.
People who quit, and are offered a cigerette can say a couple things. they can say "No, I've quit" ( which reinforces the fact they themselves have REALLY quit ) OR they can say - and usually do "No, Im TRYING to quit" (Which really means they havent really, dont want to, or are not self confident in their decision to quit). Its an interesting thing to think about.
The more you re-affirm in your mind and in your speech about something, the more you are going to succeed. :)
Anyone can do this, just takes practice.
-----
So far I feel better than I have in months, energy is actually up! Its only the completion of my 3rd day however. Im going to keep it up with the workouts, but yeah... always have to listen to your body.
I'll have to try the egg breakfast to see how I feel on it in week two.
So far so good, Thanks for all the support and suggestions, I'll make you guys proud! hahaha

{hi} there Everyone and especially Mr JadeHawk
I must say that I agree 100% with Wilma, she is so very right about not exercising too much - remember that the 1st Personal Diet Program is very strict and it would be better to focus on loosing weight first, then once your food intake increases during the Refeeding Program you can focus on getting fit and 'ripped'.
The success of the 1st Personal Diet Program is not related to exercise. If however you deviate because the exercise you are doing stimulates your appetite you will end up loosing weight slower and that is in :noway: what we want for you.
You may do moderate exercises providing that the exercise you do does not increase or stimulate your appetite – the big key will be to listen to your body ie: see how you feel and what you are able to manage comfortably. If you do exercise, we recommend that you eat your apple 20 minutes prior to exercising.
Yogurt and cheese are the lightest and least filling meals and if you are going to exercise I recommend that you rather avoid these and go with something more substantial such as eggs, chicken, fish or meat and veggies. These food choices will help to keep you feeling full longer.
The big key is listening to your body and following your eating plan 100%. Some clients make the mistake of thinking they can exercises and this will cancel out having the :munchies: munchies later on - the 1st Personal Diet Program does not work that way.
Dr Cohen advises that you should not take any extra amino acids and certainly you should not take HGH supplements artificially. The beauty of the program is that it brings your hormones into a balance naturally...
I must say, you have set your goal very high for your first month, but I don't believe it's impossible because I have seen men doing close on that (sorry ladies), so: KEEP YOUR FEET ON THE GROUND AND REACH FOR THE STARS...
Whatever happens on the scale, always do your very, very best because that is what you deserve! {cheerleader}

You are so right Jadehawk! It is totally a state of mind. I quit smoking in the 1st week of Jan this year after reading the book, Stop Smoking the Easy Way by Allan Karr (I think that's how his name is spelled) anyway, that's not the point. The point is that I read the book, smoked my last cigarette after 20+ years and that was that. The book works by getting the smoker to look at smoking for what it is and then change their mind about smoking.
Now I'm a non-smoker and it was surprisingly easy. I apply the same principles to this diet now. Instead of giving up my life and food, I am indulging myself in creating the body that I deserve. It seems so small, but that difference is what makes it easy not to cheat - it's just a different look at the whole thing and it is very exciting. Anyway, sorry to ramble on, but your sentiments really struck a cord with me. :party1:

Hey Cyberella,
That's awesome that you quit smoking the same way, too! It's really funny that you described it as non-eventful and just stopped. That's how it was for us, too. How funny!
Struck a cord with me means that it really attracted my attention and seemed to be insightful (or something like that anyway!)
I still feel like I ramble on at times, but, yes, you do get the prize (lol) But still, what you have to say is great!
