Hey everyone!!! Just wanted to say {hi}
I've been reading alot of your posts but haven't really participated in many discussions yet. I went for my bloodwork today, so hopefully can get started in a few days. Also bought a new scale. I have one, but let's just say most of the time it makes me want to
{explode}
While I am trying to weigh my food, the numbers keep changing, with or without anything on the scale.
{pirates} ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHH!!
I decided my sanity was worth another $30.00.
But anyway, a little background. This is my second time around on the 1st Personal Diet. I was on the diet last summer and did really well for about 6 weeks. And then, I started having problems with my eyes. Ended up having three eye surgeries over a 3-month period, and fell into one of the deepest depressions I've ever experienced. :sadeyes: Needless to say, I gained back the 30 pounds I had lost.
The eye surgeries are all over now -- just have one final follow up visit. So, I'm back and more dedicated then ever to GettinSkinny!!!!! All of you girls are such an inspiration and I am so thrilled to be a part of these exciting times!!
Everyone is doing soooooo good. I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful, ambitious group of women to help me through this. Kudos to everyone on what you have accomplished thus far!!!! And, it's nice to meet you all.
See you in the threads!!!!! GettinSkinny

Hey, GettinSkinny! Nice to "meet" you! I hope this time around does the trick for you.
I guess you already got your new scale, but I highly recommend the $24.95 (from Amazon.com) Escali digital scale. It works beautifully, has both grams and ounces, adjusts for containers placed on it, and travels well! My husband and I are both on 1PD and we use it a lot, obviously. So far it's held up perfectly.

Nice to "meet" you too, Mrs. Peel and thanks for the welcome!!!
Actually, we own an Escali postal scale and it has always worked for us -- or at least the Post Office has never told us differently. I will give this one a try and if I don't like the results, will most likely invest in another Escali, since the one we have has given us such good performance. I would just use the one we have, but I like the convenience of the scale being in the kitchen and I don't think my husband would appreciate me moving his out of our office. :)

Cyberella, Hugentobler & Bronwyn -- thanks for the welcomes. I look forward to talking with all of you. The eye thing was definitely scary. I think anytime they have to cut on your eyes is really scary for anyone. :eek: Talk to you ladies again soon!!!

{hi} there Gettinskinny
I'm so glad that you had your eyes all fixed up and that you are now back on track to loosing the extra weight and making your dreams come true!
Just a word of caution: if you find that you suddenly look so slim that you simply can't believe your eyes... :hypnotic: DON'T PANIC!!!
This does not mean you need another op, just that your diet is working and that you are getting skinny!!! In this case you will have to trust the reading on the scale and the feeling in your clothes... and if all else fails, listen carefully to the compliments of everyone around you!
A very WARM WELCOME :bighug:
I look forward to seeing your progress {cheerleader}

Hi GettinSkinny,
Great name, by the way! I'm a second timer too. I did this diet about a year ago after two freinds melted away on it. I had a health situation at the time that prevented me from sticking to the program, but I lost 22 pounds and they mostly stayed off.
My two friends are still skinny minnies, so this time I'm in for the duration. I know we can both make it to our goal weight - especially with all this support!
Good luck and please keep us posted!

Hi, Shasha, you are too funny!!! :)
Hey WorthyQueen, thanks for the encouragement... I see you are a couple of weeks into your second quest. Just had my bloodwork and waiting for my new diet. I've been eating on my old plan for the last three days to hopefully get a head start. Nice to know I'm not the only second-timer on the board. :)

Welcome! Welcome! I've been absent for a couple weeks myself after my start a month ago. My back started "acting up" again, and I've been in pain. Isn't it ironic that when we're trying to improve our health that other parts of our body act out - kind of like a small child - "Hey, look at me! I'm important too!" I had eye surgery a few years ago and I remember how freaked out I was. Turns out I am one of a few people in the world that react negatively to Valium. Rather than calming me down, I recall bright colors and someone pulling me off the ceiling. Literally. NOT something you want to find out right before a surgery.
Anyway - my back is doing better now (cross my fingers) and I am going to be driving through Sweet Home Alabama tonight on my way to Chattanooga. Staying in Tuscaloosa tonight. :) I'll think about you as we drive through the beauty that is BAMA. {motorcycle}
My first weigh in is Monday. The bad thing is that I already know I have lost a certain number... when I went to see the doc about my back, they weighed me and DIDN'T believe me when I told them NOT to tell me my weight. They thought I was kidding. So I know I am already close to halfway to my goal of 22 pounds. Monday just won't be nearly as exciting now. :(
Packing my bags for my trip... and NOT forgetting my scale...

cyberella, Bronwyn, WorthyQueen -- thank you, thank you, thank you very much!!! :party2: I just felt like adding a little pizzazz to my signature. Glad you gals liked it. :)
BarbieGRRRL - thanks for sharing your experience. During my first eye surgery, the anesthesia didn't take and I just about flipped out during the surgery because the pressure was sooooo intense it was incredibly painful. Quite a surprise after everyone told me it was a piece of cake, nothing to it, etc. etc. Needless to say, they made darn sure the second and third times around that they sedated me pretty heavily.
So, you are going to be in my neck of the woods? You aren't a displaced Alabama Sweetheart, now are you? T-town - the hometown of my alma mater, University of Alabama. I've always liked Tuscaloosa, but now it's beginning to get bigger than I care for. I lived close to and worked in Memphis for 3 years and just walked into my boss' office one day and said, that's it, I'm going home to Alabama. Discovered I was NOT a big city gal. :) So here I am, almost 4 years later, still working for that Memphis company, but from home. I love it. Best thing that's ever happened to me.
I can also relate to your back health -- I've spent most of my life babying mine to keep out from under the knife. I was fortunate enough to find a really incredible chiropractor almost 13 years ago and he has been a savior, no exaggeration. He has kept me from under the knife three times -- when medical doctors told me that was my only option. I love him dearly!!!
Sorry about the weight faux pas by your doctor's office -- bummer!! What's wrong with people when you say, I don't want to know and they just assume that because they would, that you would too. Shame on them. But don't let it get you toooo down -- excellent news!!!!! And you never know, you might be very pleasantly surprised anyway when you step on the scale again in a few days.
Enjoy your trip -- soak up some of that beautiful Alabama countryside while traveling through God's country. It soothes the soul, that's for sure.

No displaced ALabama Sweetheart... I'm Texas through and through. My folks live in TN - I got married on a riverboat on the TN river. Taking the kids to see Nana and Boppa. I'm taking the southern route to Chattanooga, so I'll be on I-20 heading into Tuscaloosa from Meridian.
I live in Dallas - how 'bout u? What part of Bama are you from?
I have avoided the knife once - this past August. Have a great chirpractor now, but she can't adjust me right now because one fo my disks is torn. :( I have just changed the way I do EVERYTHING... and it seems to be helping. I'm off the cane and back into water aerobics... and that is really helping the pounds slide off as well!
Gotta run and get on the road.
Good luck! And talk to you soon!

BarbieGRRRL, hope your trip was fantastic. Always a joy to see those grandbabies, speaking as a grandmother myself. :) As a matter of fact, I have had all three of mine here with me for a couple of days now... wears me out, but I love it.
I'm from a small Northeast Alabama town. It is close to Muscle Shoals or Decatur, if you are familiar with those cities. I'm about 80 miles due north of T-town, and I know you know where that is. :party1:
Oh man, I hate that you have a torn disc... nothing to do with that but let it heal and it takes forever. So sorry you are having problems like that, but very glad you have a good chiropractor. Alot of people don't believe in chiropractors and I feel really sorry for them. I have family members that have gone under the knife multiple times because they are too stubborn to try a chiropractor. :(
Anyway, I am super excited, finally got my new diet program and today is my official start day!!!! Hope you have a super duper St. Patrick's Day!!!
