Hello all my fellow companions! Week one was a struggle until I reached day 5, that seemed to be my turning point and then I was on a roll. I just HAD to take a peek at the scale after the first week and was so excited to see I had dropped 8.5 pounds!!! Now I am REALLY motivated!!! Thanks to you all for your great posts and encouragement!!!:party1::applause:

Welcome and congratulations on your successful week. I was one of the once a month weighers... and I do recommend it. You don't get caught up in the drama and can concentrate on the diet instead of the scale. Also, the numbers are always smaller if you only weigh monthly. Anyway, glad to have you with us!

Thanks Key! I know, I have read the 'manual' over and over again and as I was sneaking a peek at the scale I was telling myself I shouldn't be doing that!! I promise, I will be good from now on. I don't want to turn in to a scale junkie!!

Awesome to read the encouraging posts here. Today is day ONE for me lol...I'm enthused by all the stories and encouragement given by other members! Have suffered w migraines since I was 18, they got worse after I hit 30, am almost 43 now. Was actually home with one today...and last Friday. Praying the diet will lessen them instead of increasing them. ;) I have about 22-24 lbs to lose...definitely one who tends to hop on the scale when dieting. Does it really help NOT to in this plan? Encouragement is welcome and aPpreciated!

As far as when to weigh or not to weigh...

It is considered a deviation if you weigh more than once a month.

But, I weigh once a week and make no apologies for doing so. Everyone is different! Some are motivated by the scale... some are discouraged by the scale.
In my opinion, it is entirely up to the individual. I have weighed every week and it has forced me to stay true to the diet, see what TOM does to me, see what red meat and cheese do, etc... The scale holds me accountable, the mirror lies.

I have consistently lost and am only 14 lbs. away from my goal!

I tend to have to agree with what Mommabear says about weighing. I have to be careful it can get very addicting to weigh for me. I can run to it every time I eat something which isn't good. But I'm liking the knowledge of what I do is making enlightened.

Kimmosabi -

I have tried both ways - weighing once monthly and also more frequently (but not to the point where I was a scale junkie) and weighing every so often is better for me. I was having some MAJOR MAJOR problems deviating especially over the holidays and what helped me keep on 100% once I got there for over a week was to see the numbers on the scale going down. It was a bit of a motivational kick in the pants for me (and I needed it) to keep on going instead of sabotaging myself. My clothes did feel like they were a little looser, but I have had that in the past where my mind and my jeans were playing tricks on me. I already feel like I carry myself differently - I've lost 14 pounds overall with 10 of them just being since January 1 and I'm happy to say that I have 22 pounds to go. It doesn't seem like such a huge hurdle to me anymore.

I think it's a personal decision for you to really decide what to do. If you do weigh more often than once a month, just be prepared for the times when the scale doesn't budge or sometimes goes up (due to TOM or other reasons). That is NOT the time to give up - you just have to keep doing what you know is right and your body will take care of itself.

Good luck!
