View Full Version : The Blues

I am coming to the end of week 6 and I have the blues. I just wanted to vent my frustrations.
(Before I do.....Yes, I will continue on my path to my target weight and YES, I will continue to follow my plan 100%)...I just don't like it right now.

I am sitting inside while 8-10 inches of snow falls here in Cincinnati. I am tried of this weather. Being stuck in the house is a test of my will power especially when my son's brownie is sitting on the counter. (I might just pitch it!) I have tried to read a book....find an interesting movie...I've reread posts....I have no desire to clean my house or take a bubble bath....I just want to whine.

I've come to the realization that I will not be at my target weight by the end of Week 12. After the 4 week weigh in, I don't feel the weigh dropping like I did before. I'm still in the same size pants. I kept saying in mind that I could make it 12 weeks....Now I'm near tears to think that I have to go longer. I am trying to focus on the end result. It's just hard right now.

I have been trying new recipes and have found none that I like.
I'm tired of cooking 3 dinners a night (mine, husbands, and kids). Of course by the time mine is done, everyone else is done eating their meal, and I'm eating by myself. And I'm the "witch" when I complain about it, so they all come back and then STARE at me while I eat. Don't give me a hard time about cooking...my husband and I made a deal that I would cook if he did the laundry. I hate laundry.

Okay...I feel better now. i'm going to get up and make myself a tea and pretended that it is Hot Coco. I'm sure I'll make it through the day. I just don't how how I'll make it to the end. I will because people told me I couldn't. I love to prove them wrong. Thanks for listening.

Dear Amylynn,

I feel so badly that you're having a tough time right now. Especially when the weather keeps you inside, it's that much tougher. Here in L.A., we're having a little false spring right now and that helps lift the spirits.
Forgive me, as I have forgotten how much you hoped to lose on the plan, but as daunting as it seems right now, a second 12 weeks is not the worst possible scenario. The worst scenario is obesity-related health problems and limitations extending into your later life. I don't know if thinking about that helps you, but it does me - I have grand plans for the rest of my life and don't want any physical limitations that I can help!
I am in my last couple of weeks of the first 12 right now, and always knew I'd need at least 2 sessions to lose 101 pounds - I'm not losing as fast as some of the other ladies are, but I notice the change nevertheless. I wonder if you enjoy cosmetics? I find playing with new looks as I "slenderize" is a fun way to focus on the change rather than the time left.
Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you & send you positive thoughts :flower::flower::flower::flower:

Oh dear Amylynn,

First - I am so glad that you started your "vent" by saying that you are going to stick with the plan 100%!! You have come so far so absolutely no backing down now. We must've started on or near the same day because I am also coming up on the end of my 6th week. (It was 6 weeks ago last Monday that I started). I too have noticed a slow down of weight loss, but it is still coming off. I've read many posts where those who have completed the plan said to expect a slow down after the initial four weeks so at least we know we're going according to plan.

I also don't remember where your weight and/or goal weight is. I know I'll be close to being ready for the refeed after 12 weeks, but am not sure I'll reach my goal by then which is frustrating. Keep in mind, though, that even if you have to go longer you may not have to go another full 12 weeks. Just take this one day, one week at a time. If you look back, doesn't it seem that the first six weeks went by awfully fast? You're 1/2 way through the first 12 weeks already. Your sizes will come down along with your weight and while some weeks are slow, others will show more drastic results. I felt like it was really slow last week, but today my jeans are really loose. All of a sudden I think it's catching up.

I agree with Mrs. Peel that the weather you're experiencing doesn't help. I'm out here in sunny Southern California with her and it has been gorgeous. We are truly lucky to live in this climate.

Re: cooking your dinner. Is it absolutely necessary to cook everyone else's before your own? I also cook for my husband and my 2 year old so I completely understand having to work around 3 different meals. It does get cumbersome, but I try to cook so that we eat around the same time when possible. I'll measure out my things, cook for my 2 year old (cause he doesn't care if his food gets cold, in fact prefers it to "too hot") and then cook my husband and my food at the same time. I must admit that he is eating the same foods as me when I do this - just larger quantities and will add his own potatoes/toast/etc. so that is helpful. For instance, I will cut my asparagus into small pieces and steam them along with his spears so I know which are mine, which are his and oila they are done at the same time.

You are a trooper and I know you'll get through this bump. Any day now your sizes will fall and that'll be HUGE motivation. Do you work during the day and/or have contact with other people or friends? I'm sure they must be noticing the change and complimenting you.

Sorry this is so long, but you sounded like you needed some support. Hang in there and please keep us posted as to how you're feeling.

All the best,
Bron

{hi} there Amylynn & Mrs Peel & Bronwyn

:comfort:

Yes, there will come times when we all feel a bit down... and you may stop to rest a bit but, you must not quit... :bighug:

Try to find things that you love doing (such as Mrs Peel's experimenting with new looks). Don't keep your focus on the here and now, rather see yourself somewhere in the future, looking much better than you do right now.

It's hard to follow your goal if your hopes are not clear cut. So, take some time to think about how you will look and feel at your goal weight. Visualize and see yourself in your new smaller denim etc. If you have some thin photo's of you, now would be a great time to get them out and stick them on the fridge.

Reading up on health issues can definitely help you with motivation.

Just remember that you did not loose the excess weight overnight and you need to allow your body the time it needs to return to health and wellness...

Bronwyn's got some great cooking tips for you! {goodjob} You do not need to be the last person in your own book... I recommend eating your family meals all together... even if this means making yours first and then re-heating it. Remember that your family meals are negotiable, yours are not and there is no reason why you cannot make them healthier food options that make making your meal easier...

MrsPeel and Bronwyn- Thank you for the kind words. It is nice to know that I have a few diet buddies for support. It was a rough day yesterday, but my self pity is over. My 5 yr. old little girl crawled into my lap yesterday and gave me a big ole kiss and told me I was beautiful. It doesn't get any better than that. It reminded me how important it is to get healthy not only for me, but for my kids. As the snow continues (another 5 inches -a total of 12 inches), I plan to break out the hat and gloves and go play in the snow. I can't tell you how long it has been. It will be a fun family activity. Thank you again for being there, FYI- I did pitch the brownie. I thought it was cruel punishment having it sit on the counter.
Thanks-

Shasha- Thank you for your wise words. I plan on doing dinners differently. I have some skinny pictures of me. I'll need to drag them out to inspire me.

Yay Amylynn!!

What an amazing little girl you've got. Isn't it so cool when they seem to know just what you need? Sometimes I wonder who is taking care of who? So glad to hear you're feeling better. So smart to make the best of that weather you're experiencing. I'm actually jealous and we don't ever get snow to play in here! Stay going strong and we'll always be here when you need us.

sorry 4 being so late (was out a lot these days)-
amylynn, i hug u {friendhug} and again... and again!! {bighug}
u r funny -the way u wrote your post made me feel sorry 4 u and being filled with compassion and at the same time u had me smile a lot as it shows what a smart and powerful woman u r!!!

if that helps: i also can't see a change at the stage i'm in at present- oh, yeah, there is a change: my belly overtook my boobs and sticks out further than they r -which i NEVER had in my entire life- xept 4 my pregnancies!!!!
otherwise nothing changes 4 the better here!!
so i understand your being p***ed off- {scream}
i am hoping and quite positive that we'll overcome this stage of stagnation (or in my case: wrong directions..haHAHAHAhaha)..

in a way iz good that these people made u angry by being so insensitive and trying 2 blittle u by saying u wouldnt make it!!!
they seem a bit like the engines that make u carry on at present and we all know how good it feels 2 succeed in the end!! :weights:

Cyberella- Thank you. I have been following all your posts and you are an inspiration. I love how you questions things. I too am one who wants to know it all before I follow it.

Mrs. Peel, Shasha, and Bronwyn- You are right that I have a special little girl who understands her mommy. She and her brother are the joy of my life. We tried for 6 years to have them and are thankful everyday that we were finally blessed with these miracles.

Thanks-

they r, truely!!!
little, big miracles full of wisdom, knowledge and competence in a very buddha-like way...
the more they "arrive" in the "real"unreal world, the more they tend 2 lose whaz perfect, important and "larger than life", i think.
.. i see my job 2 b helping them 2 stay so full with love, open-heartedness and authenticity,
..just my humble opinion!

so happy 4 u that u could have your babies after such long time!! my life b4 my kiz seems so much more shallow and superficial in retrospective...

Cyberella you are so right! Children are so precious and I too am trying to raise my boy with the hope that he will retain every bit of love, spirituality, truth, and wisdom he was born with. He is amazing, as are all little children. They truly give us hope for our future. Your boys are lucky to have you for a Mom.

And you too Amylynn, I'm so happy you had your angels after trying for so long. I do believe they choose us as parents so yours must not've been ready to come here yet any sooner. I'll bet they were worth waiting for.

{hi} there Everyone

I'm really enjoying reading your posts!

{grouphug1}

Had to {lol} with Mrs Peel saying:

P.S. I don't have kids, but my cats think I'm looking HOT lately. :clapping3: Talk about MAKING THE MOST OF IT!!!

Which reminds me of a saying that I love:

WHEN LIFE DEALS YOU A LEMON,
USE IT TO MAKE LEMONADE!
