hi, dear moderators!
i have a question 2 ask: in case one decides 2 take a break 4 one reason or the other, what is the refeed going 2 b like-
is it differently what one gez "perscribed" when 10 or 8 kg above assigned weight? whaz the difference? is it going 2 b different 2 stay on this weight or more likely 2 put on some xtra-pounz in the future?
and do i have 2 sign up the full 12 weex again or will my "remaining" weex stay on "my account" as a bonus?
thanx in advance 4 answers..:party1:

{hi} there Cyberella
Re-feeding is the name of the final stage in Dr. Cohen's program and may only be requested when you are 5 pounds away from your goal weight. The Re-feeding is made of 14 - 28 daily eating plans with incremental food quantities up to a point that people complain that they cannot eat that much. The role of the re-feeding is to stabilize the final weight you have reached and help you keeping it. During this time of adding more and more food to your daily menu, you will weigh yourself daily and decide based on the results if to continue the re-feeding or to stop it.
Taking the Re-feeding before you have reached your target weight will cause weight gain because of the gradual introduction of large food quantities as part of the Refeeding process. Depending on where you are in your program, you may be asked to go for a final blood test prior to Refeeding which is based on all your follow up blood test results.
We do encourage you to please try to achieve the goal weight that Dr Cohen has recommended for you because body will cope better after the program if you no longer carry excess fat.
 Have you ever noticed how you gain weight faster the more overweight you become? This reason for this is that if you still carry excess fat your body will be prone to storing fat.
We encourage you to try to loose all the extra fat because we would like to see you successful in the long term, not just in loosing the weight, but in keeping it off as well.
The program is designed to diet until you reach your goal weight, do the Refeeding Program and then follow the Maintenance Guidelines. We do not recommend Refeeding Prior to reaching your goal weight.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions. I also recommend that you write to your consultant and ask her what she recommends. {cheerleader}

hey, shasha!
thanx 4 your precise answer, yet there r some parz i dont understand:
>During this time of adding more and more food to your daily menu, you will weigh yourself daily and decide based on the results if to continue the re-feeding or to stop it<
does that mean: 2 stop adding amounz or 2 stop the refeed? 2 stop the process of refeed is not up 2 me 2 decide, rite? or do i increase the amount of food and check on the scale after how much my system can take without putting on weight? hope u understand my question...

>Taking the Re-feeding before you have reached your target weight will cause weight gain because of the gradual introduction of large food quantities as part of the Refeeding process<
i dont understand y it should b easier 2 keep a lower weight in comparison 2 keeping a higher weight-
i've xperienced that my body can maintain a 78 kg better than a 69 kg.. as it might b 2 little 4 me...?!?!
>Have you ever noticed how you gain weight faster the more overweight you become? This reason for this is that if you still carry excess fat your body will be prone to storing fat.<
no, actually i havent- as i said b4.
in the metric world things r quite simple: u r 1,80 meters, so 80 kg is a quite normal weight - u r not thin, but not fat eighter.
being 70 kg (my dr.cohen target weight) is also the ideal weight in terms of loox.
the health board in austria did research and found out that the healthiest weight is the "normal weight", not the "ideal weight"- whatever..
i weigh 79,5 at present and thaz not xactly fat, yet iz not as slim as i wanted 2 bcome.. (had 2 go on the scale 2 communicate with the consultanz!! promise- i dont care bout weighing anymore!!).
i actually wanted 2 go 8 pounz lower than what dr.cohen suggested and got his approval 4 that!
i keep measuring my oobies every morning since 4 days (stopped doing the scale about 2 weex ago) and check if iz "safe" 2 stay on track-
i also wish 2 finish what i started as i'm no quitter -quitting in mid-process is very hard 4 me- but as i posted b4: dont wanna spoil the only good body-part i have- hope iz not already: "had"!!
well, the consuls leave it up 2 me what 2 do...

{hi} there Cyberella
To answer your last question first: YES, you will increase the amount of food and check on the scale to see how much your system can take without putting on weight. That is 100% correct.
What we find is that people are better able to control their weight if they reach the goal that Dr Cohen recommends. For example what I mean by this is that clients find that their body copes better with starch for example if you weigh your ideal weight, you can eat more starch and even if you do eat a bit too much, you will gain less weight than what you would if your weight were higher. The result is that you are less prone to gaining weight and that it is easier to maintain your goal weight.
Of course Dr Cohen or your consultant cannot see you - the weight that is recommended for you is based on your height and your shoe size only - it does not take muscles etc into account - this is why your consultant has left the final decision up to you.
 Best advise: LOOSE THE EXCESS FAT & stop when you look and feel great! Don't start Refeeding just because you are tired of dieting / when your bust becomes too small - start when the excess fat is gone from your bottom, tummy, hips and thighs... these are normally the problem area's for ladies...

hi, shasha!
first: thanx 4 putting up with my problems!!
i really am greatful 4 your support!!
i am not at all tired of the diet!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm tired of losing on the absolutely wrong spoz!
i've never had a belly sticking out further than my breasts!!!! thaz what i'm tired of- 2 say the least- i'm freaking out seeing whats happening 2 me rite now!
i've never had a shape like that b4 in my life!!! (the weightgain was always evenly spread over my body: i was curved but always in proportion!)
i deprive myself and end up looking real bad- thaz my problem!
and: my skin is shriveled and wrinkled, not only on my chest but also in my face- the last couple of days i aged 10 years in my face!!!!! the cheex r dry and i have so very much access tissue- if i lower my head and smile i have cheex like a woman of 55 or older!! my avatar is memory at present!!
this is more like me, now: :pumpkin:
i know that thaz all due 2 drastic weightloss -eventhough nothing much changes these days (only my chest lost another 2 cm- 1 inch about)- and i hope and believe i'll even out after refeed, but the way my face and chest look at present i wonder if the diet is doing me all that good!! -esp. emotional, as people get scared of me and take 2 their heels when i show up ... ;o)
ok! thaz xaturated - people r still kind, but thaz what i'm doing once i mistakenly come across a mirror!
i really dont know what 2 do rite now!! i'm desperate... :(
one more question i have, as it would have an effect on my closer future: if refeed is done sooner and with a higher weight, r the "prescribed" refeeding-portions going 2 b bigger, smaller or the same in comparison 2 a lower body-weight?
(like gail had 2 add 50ml of milk one day after her doc's appointment- so that was very precise..thaz y i didnt quite comprehend how refeed worx, yet)
or is it in any case as u said in the beginning: the portions r suggested and one has 2 eat 2 that amount where weight rises again?
yours sincerely,
ms. dull-witty
sorry 4 being so obtuse!!

{hi} there Cyberella
{sorry} to hear about the issue with skin, not feeling nice etc. Buuu huuu huuu!!!
Remember that it can take your skin a bit of time to shrink back properly. You have lost weight very fast.
I do want to say that I think your body will still continue to change shape, even after you have completed your Refeeding Program. So what you are currently seeing is most likely temporary. Lots of people say that their shape changes even after Refeed.
If your consultant said it was OKAY for you to Refeed, then you may decide to begin your Refeeding Program. If I were in your shoes, I would try my very best to press on at this time to finish and loose the last bit. Just remember that your body needs time to adjust and re-shape itself. This is not going to happen overnight.
The Refeeding Program is the gradual introduction of much more foods... ie: you add proteins to the point where you are adding 200 g of new proteins, same with veggies. Fruit increase and change. Bread is brought back, so is starch veggies etc.
If you stop at 5 kg above goal you will still add the same amounts of food, but, what your body can tolerate will most likely be different than what is would if you were at goal. This means that you may need to stop brining in more foods because your body has a lower limit on what it can take before you gain weight.
You should try to loose all your excess fat prior to Refeeding - otherwise your body will still be programmed to store fat and you will tend to gain weight quicker and easier than if you were at your ideal goal weight.
I hope this helps you to decide :bighug:
