Ok, I'm almost at my 8 week weigh-in and I just couldn't wait. I'm out of clothes to wear and I've been frequenting the thrift stores in my city and surrounding ones. So, I got on the scale and weighed myself...yay! I love to see the numbers going down! I didn't tell anyone that I was going on 1pd, but they've sure been telling me how fantastic I look. Feels awesome. I hope that you all are having the same success.

{hi} there Leannevanb
{congrats} on having lost 39 pounds - WELL DONE! {goodjob}
We are very proud of you!!! {cheerleader}
Dr Cohen has very good reasons why he recommends only weighing once a month - I'd like to ask that you please follow these recommendations as they are there for your own benefit... I ask that you please weigh again on 8 weeks and then on 12 weeks...

It's a funny thing, really--just after I made my last post I got the email from 1pd to provide my updated weight! I guess I wasn't "jumping the gun", I was just on time.

Congratulations Leeanne!! That is amazing progress - you must be doing everything right!! :)I know what you mean about wanting to weigh more often. But I guess the old saying "curiosity killed the cat" can apply here as if you do get on the scale and don't see the progress you'd like you may become uninspired and unmotivated. Still, I have to admit that I get on the scale from time to time because I can't help it. Sorry Shasha. There - I admited it. :innocent4:
Also - dear Cyberella, please note that Leanne just reported her weight loss after 8 weeks on the program, not 4.

thanks for your words of encouragement! i am truly pleased with my success so far. i'm a little nervous about march break though because my hubby and i are going to the dominican republic. our resort has buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so i'm hoping that there will be diet-friendly choices to be had...still trying to figure out how to pack my food scale without damaging it...

Lots and lots and lots of bubble wrap!! My father-in-law just mailed mine back to me because I had left it at his house in Palm Springs. I was so impressed with the packaging (lots and lots of bubble wrap) and it was in mint condition when it arrived!! When are you going on your trip? The longer you're on teh diet, and the more weight you lose, the easier it is to stick to. I have found that most places are so accomodating and EVERYONE has been on a diet and one time or another and can relate. Are you able to cook at all where you're staying?
Shasha

YES Bronwyn, the bubble wrap is definitely going to help Leanne's scale to stay a precision instrument! {goodjob}
I'm reminded of a quote: if you fail to plan, you plan to fail... and there is :noway: we want that to happen to anyone!!!
So, try to find out as much as possible before the time, if necessary, go the extra mile for yourself and take your diet goodies with you, this will depend on whatever you will need. Scale, diet, crackers, balsamic vinegar even food if needs be.
Remember, what you put into this, you will get out of it and above all: YOU ARE WORTH YOUR VERY BEST EFFORT!!!
If someone you loved was on a strict diet to save their life, what would you do? Well, you are worth all the effort :weights: and hard work that you need to MAKE a success of this!!
Please don't short sell yourself!!! :bighug:

Hello all,
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and advice. Truth be told, I brought my scale along and it wasn't damaged at all. However, the resort did not have a lot of cooked food that wasn't flavored or seasoned. As a result, I had a bit of a set-back, but within 3 days of returning, I was back to losing, losing, losing!! Feels good to have the support and the drive to succeed!!

Welcome Back Leanne! Yes - a very successful trip for you as it sounds as though you did the best you could. I can't imagine having to be so careful and strong at a RESORT!!! Good job getting right back on track now that you're home. You'll do great now that you're rejuvenated and ready to shed more pounds. As you can see the boards have gotten very busy. It's been great seeing everyone's progress. We'll look forward to your next progress report. Again, good to have you back!

Well, I got the official email message to send in my results, and I have to say that I'm proud to do it:
I have lost 2 inches from my arms
I have lost 6.5 inches from my waist
I have lost 6.5 inches from my hips
I have lost 3.5 inches from my thighs
I have lost 6.5 inches from my bust
Woo Hoo!! My starting weight was 245 pounds and I weigh myself tomorrow morning for the update, but I'm pretty sure it'll be about 193 pounds!! Just a few more hours (when I wake up) I'll find out...

Ok, here it is, I got on the scale this morning and it read 193 pounds. That means I'm half way!!! This is very exciting, but (believe it or not) frustrating too. I love the fact that the weight is "falling off" however I feel like I'm always in the thrift stores or in the mall trying to find something to wear that fits. I"m a teacher, so I have to have nice clothes and getting them altered isn't helping a whole lot. Do I just deal with it and look for the end?

YAY Leanne!!! First of all CONRATULATIONS!!!! That is so very, very exciting that you are half way to your goal. You should be so very proud, happy, and excited. Secondly, are you crazy for worrying about the clothes?? I know it's a bit frustrating to be in between sizes but what a wonderful problem to have, huh? I'm trying not to buy too much in between stuff, but just a few key pieces that I can mix and match. Look for things on sale and in thrift stores. Even buy them a little small/tight so they'll last you longer. Yes - look to the end when you'll be fit and slim and you'll have a wonderful new wardrobe that fits you perfectly for as long as you'll want it to!
Good job!! We'll be here for you for the second half of your journey.

First, Congrats on finishing your first 12 weeks! You have to be sooooo proud. Secondly...I, too, am a teacher....I teach 7th graders who love to comment on what you are wearing. I have been faced with the same problem about clothes. My husband told me to get over it and to just buy what I wanted. He said that I was working too hard on this diet to be distracted by what to wear. Who cares how long you are going to wear it! Somebody else will get a chance to enjoy them after I'm done with them...So on Thursday, I went shopping. I started out at a resale shop...had no luck...So I went to a department store and bought 3 full outfits. I did look for sales and I did buy my pants a little tight. I felt GREAT on Friday when I walked into school...and of course, the 7th grade girls had to comment on my new outfit. I even had a mom of one of my students stop me and tell me that I was looking good...Apparently, I was the topic of conversation at her house. The 7th grade girls were discussing how much weight I had lost over Spring break and that I was always having to pull up my pants.(I guess it took a week apart for them to see my weight loss.) So I guess it was time to get some new pants. So GO SHOPPING!!!! You are worth it!

Sorry to hear about the problem with clothes... try to find a few nice versatile goodies such as black pants (a bit small) etc that you can change the look of your outfits with accessories and other goodies.
YOU GO GIRL!!! :clapping3: We are all very proud of you!!!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for your words of encouragement and support!!
I have a friend who sews and she has worked wonders on some of my "in between" outfits. Believe it or not, she was even able to alter my bras so that they fit again!! I'm so thrilled...I can put off shopping for a while longer. I was so frustrated looking all the time--especially when I don't fit plus sizes anymore and I'm so used to shopping in plus size stores!
Happy dieting to all,
Leanne.

:clapping3: WOW!!! what a blessing that you have a friend that can even fix your bra's - she sure deserves a :bighug: what a fantasic friend she must be!!! And, that says quiet a bit about YOU for having such a super friend!!! :flirt:
AmyLynn - I agree with you on buying new clothes while losing weight. I find it very motivating (I buy them a bit tight...). I seem to get more compliments when I wear some new and tighter clothes - I guess people seem to notice your weight loss when you change your wardrobe... Works for me!!!
Leanne - You are lucky to have someone altering your clothes. As much as I like buying these "temporary" clothes, it seems to be an expensive adventure ...

Hi All,
You know, it amazes me how nice people are. I work at a busy high school and have many colleagues. I have to chuckle at how many of them quietly take me aside and ask me if I'm on a special diet. I think I've passed on the 1stPD web address to at least 10 people!! It's just really nice that people realize that weight is a sensitive issue and they don't want to offend me by saying I look great now, while perhaps implying that I didn't look so good before. I'm also amazed, however, at peoples' honesty about how they saw me before the lost weight.
...Makes me glad that I'm doing this just for me and no one else--I didn't even tell my family, who lives across the country. I guess they'll be surprised when I visit them in a few months. :)
Leanne.

Girl, when you visit your family across the country in a few months time, you better take some positive identification with you because they WON'T BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME GIRL!!
WELL DONE & PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! {cheerleader}
