I made it!!:praying: I can't believe I'm here! I need somebody to pinch me!

I'm excited and little bit scare mainly because I strongly believe that this is the most important part of the 1PD, so I must follow it accordingly and that means no deviations! Now that my hormones are working in perfect order I'm not going to mess them up!

I'm starting tomorrow. The total of my refeeding days is 18: 3 to 10 and then 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 28 and 30.

For the first 10 days, I'm mainly increasing Old Proteins, Old veggies and adding New good fruit and bread (from Refeed day 4 I start to add bread). Then, I'll start to mix old and new proteins and vegetables. That's when it gets interesting! :eyebrow:

Here I go to Refeedland!!!{superman}

What if I don't like to eat bread? Does one have to eat the bread? I'm just not a huge fan of having bread in my house. I guess I'll have to ask that when I get my own refeed program.

I'm so excited for you Dayanira! It won't be long before I get to start that journey myself. People can't believe that I still have more weight to lose.

Hey... don't forget to post some final pictures of yourself now that you are at your goal. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the pictures.

Thank you, thank you diet buddies for the words of encouragement and support!! You are the best!

I was freaking out tonight because I couldn't log in to the Forum or to my personal 1PD web page! I thought they had "unregistered" me! But probably the whole 1pd web site was down.

Ok, here I go:
Day 1 = Cohen Day (CD) 3
Starting weight: 114lbs= 51.8 kilos

Breakfast: Added 10g of veggies. Spinach omelette, 1/4 fresh tomato and cucumber, 1 cracker (Ryvita)

Snack: 1 apple

Lunch: Added 15g of veggies and 15g of Proteins. Made a huge tuna salad with a tsp of mayo, 1 cracker and a glass of Caffeine Free Diet Coke.

Snack: 1 nectarine

Dinner: The same additions as lunch. Beef stir fry, 1 crcker and a glass of Caffeine Free Diet Coke.

Snack: Kiwi fruit

Drank about 2 1/2 litres of water.

I was supposed to add a "good new fruit" but I couldn't, I've felt full all day. Plus I asked the consultant in regards of Kiwi fruit, melon and nectarines listed as "good new fruit" in the Refeed programme. In it, they have different weights from the original diet. So, I asked if I wanted to have kiwi fruit - for example - could I add both weights and have a bigger bowl of kiwi fruit?, this was the reply:

Dear Dayanira

The extra fruits in the refeeding plan is added to your allowed fruit on the diet plan and should be followed exactly as your refeeding plan allows you to : so if weights are given to the extra fruits, you only have those weights as your extra fruits while on the refeeding - regardless if your diet fruits of the same type had different weights. As you are adding these extra items on the refeeding program to your diet plan.

Regards
The 1PD Team

I'm little bit confused. Can I have a bigger bowl of melon or kiwi fruit if I want to? What do you understand? I weighed the 2 amounts on the scale and the bowl looked so huge!!! So, I stuck to the original amount.

And Marie, bread and fruit continue to be optional in the Refeed programme. But it's advised to try it at least once to see how your body reacts to it. If you have a bad reaction you should decided to cut it out completely from the diet or have the bread one day and crackers the next day in order to get your body used to it. For tomorrow I'm allowed 1 slice of bread and 2 crackers. I want to "experiment" how my body is going to react to it.

Have a great day everybody! You're doing great!

Day 2 = Cohen Day 4
Starting weight: 114lbs= 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.4lbs = 52 kilos
200g/4oz UP from Starting Weight (ST)

Pretty much the same as yesterday, except with the addition of the slice of bread. So, I made my chunky chicken soup with all the added protein and veggies, then I toasted the bread and cut it in small pieces and put them on top of the soup as croutons.Yummy!

I went up 4oz today, but I'm not worried, it's early days.

Have a great day everybody!

Hello Dayanira - :applause:Congrats, you did it! :party7: I also find the “team” or “consultant” sometimes write confusing stuff. Talking about the “team,” did anyone ever NOT get any answer after the 2nd blood test? THEY have had it since the 14th and today is the 18th. What should I think?

I cheated big time this evening … I’m so disappointed with myself … To the people who made it, did you ever cheat?

Aqua Eyes
08-19-2009, 01:02 AM
Hi L-Cat,

Why not ask the consultants what has happened with your 2nd blood test? Just check in with them and tell them that you were surprised to not hear anything about it or that you were just curious if Dr. Cohen had anything to say about it.

In regards to cheating, I cheated a little, but only with Cohen foods.... like nibbling on more crackers than I'm allowed. It taught me where my weakness was with cheating. Now I'm very concious about it. The cheat didn't hurt my weight loss any, because it was so tiny but it may have caused me to not lose as quickly if I had stayed 100%.

If you have a cheat, just get back on the wagon again and be 100% there after. Remember you want to finish this race and get to the end as quickly as you can. ;)

Dayanira
08-19-2009, 06:38 AM
Hey L-cat, I would ask the consultants in regards of you b/results. Although, they always say to allow up to a week for any response. In regards of their answer to my question, I don't know why after the whole explanation they say a clear "yes" or "no"!

I did cheat. I discovered that I have a bad habit of picking on food. Althoug little bits of food, at the end they were very annoying. Once I cheated consciously, they were 2 thin cookies almost at the end and I strongly believe that they came back to me by painfully slowing down my weight loss on the last weeks. SO, DON'T CHEAT!!

Day 3 = Cohen Day 5
Starting weight: 114lbs= 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.4lbs = 51.5 kilos
300g/7oz DOWN from starting weigh and 500g/1.1LB DOWN from yesterday!

Nothing major today, I only increased the amounts of proteins and vegetables. So, for the first time in about 6 months, I ate spinach salad with feta and small bits of chicken and toasted bread. The chicken was the new addition. It was good!

I can't manage to add the extra fruit. I'll see what happens tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying Refeed!

L-cat,

It took about a week and a half for me to receive a message about my second blood test.

As per cheating, yes I have cheated. I just get right back on the diet and don't think about it too much. Just do the best you can. I have the same problem of picking at foods, it is a hard habit to break, I just keeping working on it.

Good luck,:)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I actually received their response to my blood test just before I shut down my pc last night. I was so ticked with myself for the cheat but it's like you say get back on the wagon again(Marie, thanx) NOT think about it too much (Kim, thanx) and DON'T CHEAT (Dayanira, thanx) anymore. I have been a bit restless today thinking about the foods I would love to eat. My hubby and son seem to be eating everything I like and can't have, these days. It seems that it's becoming like when one quits smoking it's easy in the first month or two and then it gets tough. I will persevere, however! :)

What types of vegetables are on the re-feed? Carrots?

Dayanira
08-21-2009, 03:39 AM
Yeah! Carrots, eggplant, broccoli, leaks, chives and a few more. But you only start eating them until day 20 of the Refeed calendar. So far, I've been only adding more grams of the same "old" veggies and "old" proteins.

Dayanira
08-21-2009, 04:12 AM
Hey! Where is my yesterday's post??!!! I logged in today and it's not here! Bummer!

Ok, so this is what happened yesterday:
Day 4 = Cohen Day 6
Starting weight: 114lbs= 51.8 kilos
Yesterday's weight: 114.6lbs = 52.1 kilos
300g/7oz UP from starting weight and 600g/1.3lb UP from Day 3!
This is today:
Day 5 = Cohen Day 7
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.4lbs = 52 kilos
200g/4oz UP from starting weight and 100g/2oz DOWN from yesterday.

From yesterday, I doubled the amount of vegetables. What I mean is that the first 3 days on Refeed I was adding 40g of veggies, now I'm up to 80g. Now I can see the difference on my plate! And from today I added 2 new Good Fruits! I had pineaple. It was just devine!

I've been eating wholemeal bread at lunch time except for today. I had a slice of white bread for dinner. What I'm trying to do is to add as much variety to my body as I can and see how it reacts.

Tomorrow is the same "prescription". But instead of pineapple I'll add blackberries as my new Good Fruit.

Life is good!

Day 6 = Cohen Day 8
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.4lbs = 52 kilos
200g/4oz UP from starting weight and NO CHANGE from yesterday.

Today, I was upgrated!!! For the first time in 6 months I ate my dinner in a normal plate! I had steak with spinach, tomato and cucumber salad and it didn't fit in my dessert plate. Of course raw spinach is very bulky. I was eating with a grin in my face :)

From tomorrow I add an extra slice of bread, so for carbs I'll have 2 slices of bread + 2 crackers. Last night I had a slice of white bread with my dinner and today I felt a little bit bloated. But then, TOM came this morning too, so I don't know if it's because of the white bread or TOM.

I'll increase Old Protein by 30 more grams, too. This is getting more and more exciting!

The hungry feeling I had on the last days just before starting Refeed has started to fade away. But the coldness in my bones is killing me! :aint: My toes are so painful in spite of wearing woolen socks. It's the end of winter in NZ and I'm still wearing thermals. My husband says that my body needs to get acclimatized again and it may take up to 2 years!!

Can't wait for summer!!!

Day 7 = Cohen Day 9
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 113.1lbs = 51.4 kilos
400g/9oz DOWN from starting weight and 600g/1.2lb DOWN from yesterday!

I added the extra slice of bread today, I had one for breakfast and one for lunch. "The Team" had recommended me not to start eating bread in the morning during Refeed in the same way Dr. Cohen recommends it in "Life after the diet" rules, I was complying with it. But today I thought since Refeed is sort of a "trial and error" process I should eat the bread in the morning as I will probably do it sometimes after refeed and see what happens. So far so good, I'll see tomorrow on the scales, though.

Tonight, my daughters noticed that I was eating on a normal plate at dinner time, you should have seen their excitement!

The amount of food is increasing almost everyday that sometimes I weighed it up to three times to be sure is the right amount!

Suzanne, to be on Refeed by your birthday is such an excellent goal and motivator! Keep going, girl!

Dayinara, you are doing so fabulous on the refeed program. I think I'll be able to order refeed by the end of this week :praying:.

Keep up the excellent work. You see... you actually dropped a pound. LOL! How wonderful is that?!

Dayanira

Day 8 = Cohen Day 10
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 113.5lbs = 51.6 kilos
200g/4oz DOWN from starting weight and 200g/4oz UP from yesterday!

The portions today were huge! And tomorrow I get to increase more proteins! I thought I was going to feel stuffed after dinner tonight but I wasn't. I think that the increase of fruit have got me hungry again. From tomorrow I can add 1 bad fruit, I'll probably have a banana but I'm going to limit the number of fruit to 3 again to see if the hungry feeling fades.

I can start eating 3 slices of bread from tomorrow. Hmmm I don't know if I want to do that, we'll see.

Marie, I'm so amazed by this diet! I can't comprehend the science of it, yet! This is the mother of ALL diets!!!

Dayanira
08-25-2009, 06:15 AM
Day 9 = Cohen Day 13
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 113.3lbs = 51.5 kilos
300g/7oz DOWN from starting weight and 100g/2oz DOWN from yesterday.

I had a banana today as the "bad" fruit and I don't think I enjoyed it that much. I haven't felt any side effects because of it (yet!), it only tasted bland. :( I mostly use bananas to make cakes, muffins or other sweet stuff, so to eat it on its own was not that exciting.

Tomorrow I get to eat 2 "bad" fruit, so I'll have a pear and pineapple and most definitely only have 3 fruits or less. I'm feeling hungry after my huge meals and that's not a good sign. So, I think it's the fruit.

I can't believe I'm half way through Refeed, 9 more days and I'll be in the "wild". Kind of scary feeling. :praying:

Dayanira

Day 10 = Cohen Day 15
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.4lbs = 52 kilos
200g/4oz UP from starting weight and 500g/1.1lb UP from yesterday.

I'm not quite sure about the increase of more than 1lb today. I know I'm still on my goal weight but it's a worry for me. From yesterday I increased the bread = 3 slices and I ate one slice at breakfast, plus all my allocated fruit. So today, I went back to 3 pieces of fruit (2 bad and 1 good) and didn't eat bread in the morning as adviced by my consultant.

All day yesterday, I had a kind of sweet taste in the back of my throat in spite of drinking tons of water. Again, I think it was too much fruit.

The new thing in the programme today was the mixture of proteins. So for dinner I had steak and prawns, at first I thought they wouldn't taste good, but they did! After I grilled them on a pan I threw the veggies on the same pan and everything came out delicious!

The new things tomorrow? 40g of "New Protein" and 50ml of skim milk (if I use milk I must take off 40g of "Old Protein"). It's becoming more interesting (or more complicated!)!

Refeeding land is soooo good!

Day 11 = Cohen Day 16
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 113.1lbs = 51.4 kilos
400g/9oz DOWN from starting weight and 600g/1.3lb DOWN from yesterday!:party1:

This body fluctuation of mine really worries me:
Last Tuesday: 113.3 lb
Yesterday: 114.4 lb (increase of 1lb)
Today: 113.1 lb (decrease of 1lb) I noticed while waiting to drop my last pounds before Refeed, that my weight goes UP and DOWN in a blink! Is this going to be my life after refeed? I hope not, but I think I've to accept it and not to let me get stressed about it. :eyebrow: Agh, women!

Today food measurement was a little bit complicated, I must admit. These "new" items in the refeed plan (milk and new protein) were exciting but at the same time hard (for me) to split, take away, add, etc. I know my maths, believe me! Anyhow at the end of the day, I think I managed to do it right.

Here is what I had to add 80g of Old Protein & 40g of New Protein, 160g Old Veggies, 50ml of skim milk, if I did, I had to take off 40g from my daily Old Protein. Make sense? I hope so! I ended up eating like this and I'm crossing my fingers I did it right:
Breakfast @ 8:30am: Steemed couliflower with ricotta cheese.
Snack @ 10:30am: Cup of tea with 4 rice crackers
Snack @ 12:45am: 1 Peach
Lunch @ 3pm: Canned Tuna and Salmon as New protein, made a sandwich with 2 slices of bread and fresh salad. Not all the tuna and salmon fitted in the sandwich, so I ate it with the rest of the salad. I spread mayo on the bread. 1 glass of diet decaff coke.
Snack @ 4:30pm: 1 apple, coffee with milk
Dinner @ 8:00pm: grilled chicken breast and thigh with veggies, glass of diet coke.
Dessert: strawberries and black coffee

Phew! Notice that lunch was very late, hence my 2 snacks. I was not planning to eat a 4th fruit, but we went out for dinner to celebrate a friend's 92nd Birthday!! I took my dinner with me and the strawberries as a back up. I ate them when everybody was having baklavas for dessert. I think I ended up eating less of my old protein because the second coffee was black and I had planned 2 cups of coffee with milk and I only had 1 with milk.

I don't want to scare my diet buddies who are still on the diet. As you said it KMac
DC1 seemed complicated at first and now look, its 2nd nature.
Today was the first day of milk and new protein and I'm sure it will get better tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm driving south for 5hrs. with my youngest daughter. She's got another regional gymnastic competition. We'll be back on Sunday. Hubby is staying home with my oldest daughter and looking after the puppy. I won't take my computer, so I'll be "out of action" for 3 days. But I need to pack my food right now!

Have a wonderful weekend friends, keep going and strive to be deviation free!

I think a fluctuation of 1lb between 2 days is totally normal. In everythign I've read, body weight is impacted so much by hormones, water, etc. on a daily basis, that one pound doesn't really mean anything. Anyone else heard this?

D- it sounds like you're doing amazingly well! Congrats!!!!! And man, do I miss milk in my coffee!!! Someone asked me what the hardest thing to give up has been, and it's definitely soy milk. I LOVE soy lattes. :( But I'm getting used to black coffee with splenda... it's not so bad, actually, and I REALLY like that it doesn't have any calories! :)

Hi Sara and Dayinara,

I GAVE UP coffee for this program because I can't stand coffee without milk. I use Almond milk, instead of Soy or regular because I can't have anything Soy. I am really looking forward to having a cup of coffee with milk in it again. I can hardly wait! Funny... I don't really crave sweets. I crave red wine and coffee. LOL!

Dayinara....
I've been finished with refeed for about a month now and have been weighing myself every day. I fluctuate 1 pound up, 1 pound down, 1 pound up, 1 pound up, 1 pound down....etc, etc. It's totally normal to fluctuate up or down 1-2 pounds. It's when you go up 4 or 5 pounds that you need to tighten the reins and slow down on the carbs/sweets. BUT....with our after diet common sense and eating hints that Dr. Cohen gives us we CAN rein in the weight again! I gained 5 pounds when we spent a few days Up North (Michigan)....I went carb free for 3 days and within 5 days I was back down to my goal weight! Last weekend I overdid on the cookies and PIZZA (should have only had 1 piece instead of 3!!) and gained 4 pounds....I went carb free for 2 days and today I was back to goal weight! Once we're finished with the diet we shouldn't have to feel like we're in prison the rest of our lives..you gotta have some treats once in a while....BUT we need to have them in the restraints that Dr. Cohen tells us....desserts should be within an hour of a meal containing carbs, etc. (you will all get these "rules" once you receive your refeed). The whole idea is to trick our bodies with the right kind of foods in order to NOT produce insulin and start the whole fat storing process again! It's a GREAT feeling to know that I hold the keys to keeping my weight within healthy limits!!
Good luck....keep being strong...and HAVE FUN!!!
Phyllis

I'm afraid that I might go back 2 days in the Refeed programme if my weigh is higher again tomorrow. We'll see...

The trip down south was excellent, except for the weather. I took all my food and my daughter did very well. She didn't get any medals but her score has improved so much from her last competition. On the way back, it rained and rained and rained ALL the way back! The drive is beautiful on a sunny day and if you're sharing the driving. But going up and down the mountains it not fun while it's raining. My back and shoulders were so tight when I came back and I feel that I still need to sleep and rest to recover.

Sleep...!!! I need to go to bed. I'll catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Day 17 = Cohen Day 28
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 113.7lbs = 51.7 kilos
100g/2oz DOWN from starting weight and NO CHANGE from yesterday.

Thank God I didn't need to go back 2 days today. I'm maintaining at 113.7 lbs. Those 2 pounds that showed UP yesterday gave me a fright, I don't want to extend Refeed any longer. Although, I think that if I go up to 115lbs during maintenance I would like to keep it that way. We'll see once I get there. Reviewing my food diary, Monday and Tuesday I added butter on 1 slice of bread (each day), so today I skipped the butter to see what the scale reads tomorrow morning.

You know friends, that thing of adding the milk, I don't know if it's worth it or not. I'm not a big milk drinker but I love to have my coffee with milk. I've missed it all these months, I was so excited to start adding it to my coffee. From last Thursday I started adding milk as New Protein, so I did. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be or as I remembered it. Then Friday came and I was on my way down south with my daughter, we stopped at an intersection and I got black coffee, took it to the back of the car to get my skim milk already measured for the trip, poured it in and I dropped almost half the cup everywhere in the trunk!!! I drank what was left and kept going to our destination. To have a cup or maybe 2 cups during refeed you've got to do the math, substract "x" amount from your old protein in order to have "x" amount of milk, nah! It's not worth it! Plus I've got used to drink my coffee black now.

Hey, but I got to eat a cookie today, I had it with a cup of coffee and why not? milk, like old times! It felt so good to eat that cookie without guilt! (Remember my BIG and only conscious deviation!).

Now, I'm adding New veggies like carrot, leeks, chives, broccoli and eggplant (the other veggies on the list are hard to find in NZ - Queen Squash, Hubbard Squash and Kohlrabi - and others I don't have a clue how to cook them, e.g. artichoke). My dinner plate is looking prettier and prettier everyday with all those new colours.

And guess what? If the scale is kind to me :praying: .....

TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY OF REFEED!!!!: :party1:

Time flies!

Mommabear keep truthful to the programme and you'll be here very soon! You'll see.

Catch up with all of you tomorrow. Keep going friends, life is beautiful!

Day 18 = Cohen Day 30
Starting weight: 114lbs = 51.8 kilos
Today's weight: 114.8lbs = 52.2 kilos
400g/14oz UP from starting weight and 500g/1.1lb from yesterday.

Well, I did go up. So, I decided to finish Refeed and if tomorrow stays tha same I'll go 2 days without carbs but without weighing the food. I wrote to the consultant 2 days ago in regards of this and no reply until 10 minutes ago, this is what they said:

It should not be necessary as you have started your refeeding on the 51.8 kg weight and you have not gained a kilo on top of that.

This subject of "if you gain weight during Refeed" is so debatable in this forum and the Australian forum. Finally I got a straight answer. According to their reply, I don't have to go without carbs for 2 days now.

As you Marie, now I'm going to ask the consultant about other kinds of food that are not mentioned in Refeed and that have been part of my latinamerican life! like avocado - good or bad fruit? -, or other fruits that are so common in NZ, like boysenberries, raspberries and grapes. God I'm so happy that mango is part of the "good" fruits!! I couldn't live without it!

KMac, Marie, Chris and Key: thank you for cheering me!! I can't believe it either!! I never thought I'll be at the finish line! Keep going girls you're almost there!

Dayinara... ask about Tortillas... are they considered one bread? I think they will say that we can have tortillas after refeed but that one tortilla would be considered one of our starches. I forgot to ask about tortillas.

I've decided I learn more on here than I do from my consultant. Glad you all post so I can get a straight answer. Thanks so much for the great info.

Really good questions. Please let us know what you find out.

In the refeed guide it says all meat without any fat. Does that include pork and ham?

First day in Whole Wild World!!!

I'm starting my "New Me" at 51.7kg/113.7lbs. 500g/1.1lb DOWN from yesterday!

I got a reply from "the team":

Dear Dayanira

The 200g represents water retention (this was yesterday's increase). It is only if you gain a kilo overnight that you need to go back two of your personal days.

The berries contain more sugar than the other fruits and should be regarded as items that need to be enjoyed in moderation.
Avocado is a carb and grapes are loaded with sugar and should be enjoyed really carefully.

I didn't ask about corn tortillas because you can't find them in NZ, at least in the city where I live in and I asked long time ago when I had just started with the diet and they replied that it was a starch. When I eat them I make them myself. I order the "maseca" (corn flour) from a store way, way down south or when I go to see my family (which isn't that often :() I bring as many bags as I can or when a family member comes to visit he/she brings me some. I imagine that the flour tortillas (the ones used for burritos) are in the same cathegory. But I'll ask again. I don't know when they ("the team") will stop answering all my questions, but I'll keep asking until they stop answering! (Does that make sense? :hypnotic: I hope so!)

KMac, I have to agree with everybody: I'm pretty sure you're gorgeous, but show us some more, girl!!!

Thanks again for you compliments. I DO feel very proud of myself. But most importantly, my girls and my hubby think that I'm the strongest and toughest person in the whole world! My youngest daughter weighs exactly the same amount of pounds I lost in this journey! Every time she hears people asking me about the diet she elbows me and says "Mommy, Mommy, tell them that you lost ME!!!"

I promise you all, I'll be around. You won't get rid of me that easily!:flirt:
