So once upon a time... there was a gal who thought she could manage her first day of re-feeding with out a hitch. So she left her home with her incomplete lunch and scale in hand :innocent4:confident she would hit the grocery store sometime before her lunch time to complete her 1st Re-Feed lunch. Oh, how blissful the day started...the biggest decision she felt she had to make was; should she split the new allotment of food or just lump it on one meal? Oh, if she only knew how the day was about to unfold.
Weight: 148
Breakfast consisted of;
Medium Egg; with a combo of 70g of Veggies
1/2 a piece of sourdough bread
Blueberries! 100g
Coffee & Water
Yummy, she thought to herself...this is going to be fine, she will be fine...
Snack: an apple around 10:00
Lunch is where all the fairy tale ends and reality began!
"I" brought a container of spinach 65 or so grams...realized the Office had won a free lunch...no problem I remember ordering the Chicken/Mango salad. I arrived to sauce covered chicken, avocado, lettuce sprinkled with Mexican cheese and an unknown dressing. So as not to make a big deal in front of everyone. I excused myself to the kitchen, got my scale out, tried rinsing off the chicken and quickly realized I was getting stressed over a "Free Lunch" from a fast food restaurant that I would not normally eat at anyway. So all of it discreetly went into the garbage (hate to waste, just nothing left to save after I tried to make it edible!):eyebrow: and off I skipped out of the office to the grocery store to restore order to this day!
Lunch: HA!
75 gr low fat Laughing Cow Cheese (I label it skeptically, as I am not sure if this is ok) Combination of 140 gr of veggies
1/2 slice of sour dough bread
180 gr of Cantaloupe
Diet Pepsi & Water
STUFFED and humble...Everyone (Phyllis and Melissa)seem to be much better planners than I have been. Seems like a new leaf to turn.
Dinner
I will have Shrimp 115 gr, veggies 135 gr and 2 crackers(4 large saltines whole wheat)
Water
Snack
Cantaloupe 180 gr
Chamomile Tea
Any fears I previously noted, have been replaced with utter determination to do this right!
My schedule is: 4 to 8 and then 13,15,16,18,19,22,23,26,27,29
Wow, what will tomorrow bring...laughter I hope!

Wow that is quite an adventurous first day on refeed! You made it work though. Did you add more cheese as part of your protein addition? I was wondering if that was okay...I didn't quite understand that in the directions.

Congratulations! You made it through your first day, in spite of not being prepared for lunch.
I love your recount of events!
Now you know that the "planning" doesn't finish when we start Refeed.
Keep going Ev!

Melissa~I did add more cheese for the protein on my Day 1 lunch. And did not question it until your post...I will ask the "officials" how they feel about cheese quantities and re feeding? I will let you know. I did loose another 1/4 lb at my weigh in this AM...
I am feeling like today may be a bit more organized than yesterday...but that is because I am taking today and tomorrow off from work...to get organized with my food and empty my closet of clothes that don't fit, and possibly hit the thrift stores for quick replacements! :party1:
So I do laugh at myself that I did not really think about the need/cost to replace my wardrobe. As I have lost weight that I have carried through all my babies, and previous to that just my average weight. So even the skinny clothes that I was holding on to don't fit.
Thanks for your support!

I asked my consultant about the cheese....this is what they said.
"Old protein = ONLY Fish , chicken or meat from the diet list."
I was hoping I'd be able to add more cheese, but I guess not. I know what you mean about the clothes. All of my average size & "skinny" clothes are too big for me now. I really need to get some new clothes.

Thanks for answering the cheese question.
It reminds me how literal the instructions are that have been given to us.
So just back from a first time trip to a thrift store. I am shocked at how I can purchase 14 pieces of clothing for $55.00! Albeit, I had my 9 and 12 year old daughters with me so they actually ended up with all the items but one (a skirt I found for myself) This is all new to me...as I was literally raised at Nordstroms. :innocent4: This skinny thing is opening my eyes to so many opportunities to improve my previously sheltered life! As an FYI; I researched which one through local blogs, and I think lucked out that the first one was really a nice one.
On with the re feed:
Weight:147 3/4
I decided to hold all the re feed amounts until Meal 3 today. I was really tired yesterday afternoon and evening, and could not help but think it was the new food quantities???
Breakfast: egg with veggies,
2 crackers (4 reg saltines)
1 "new" fruit (blueberries)
Snack:
Lunch: Shrimp (reg fish allotment)
Zucchini,spinach,tomato salad (reg. allotment)
rice vinegar & 1/2 tsp low fat mayo
1/2 slice bread
apple
Dinner: sirloin steak (120 + 60 gr)
veggie saute (90 + 40 gr)
cantaloupe (180 gr)
1/2 slice bread (toasted and used as croutons)
water
Snack: maybe cantaloupe (180 gr) depends on how hungry I am:thinking:
tea

My 3rd Day of 15
REFEED DAY #6
DATE: 7/17/09 WEIGHT (lb): 148
Breakfast: 1 med. egg, scrambled/ 70 gr veggies / small toast / 100 gr blueberries
Snack: apple
Lunch: 65g cheese / 100g salad/ 180g cantaloupe / 4 saltines
Snack:
Dinner: 175g grilled chicken/180g green salad (tomato, cucumber, cauliflower & asparagus)/180g cantaloupe / 6 saltines
Snack: 180g cantaloupe
Awful day yesterday for me; really tired, began eating late in the morning which did not help, very lightheaded. (???) I did not feel normal until after the last meal of the day. I left all the "protein and Veg additions" for that Meal.
I think the following did not help:
being 2 lbs under my lowest goal weight (should be 150lbs)
Began eating at 8:30 which put all my meals way off (if I followed the 5 hour rule)
The Re Feed Page, "Day 6" that I am on says "if you feel that the additional 60g of fish/chick/meat is enough, you don't have to increase anymore". I really think that until I get back to the lowest goal weight I am not cutting anything out! Not meaning to sound desperate just did not like the way I felt yesterday. :(

My 4th Day of 15
REFEED DAY #7
DATE: 7/18/09 WEIGHT (lb): 147! (weight loss?)
Breakfast: 1 med. egg, scrambled/ 70 gr veggies / small toast / 100 gr (blueberries, nectarines)
Snack: apple
Lunch: 145g shrimp / 135g veggies/ 180g cantaloupe / 4 saltines
Snack: 100g blueberries, nectarines
Dinner: 15og sirloin steak/120g veggies/apple/ small toast
Snack: 180g cantaloupe
I am splitting up my Protein and Veggie allotment today, between lunch and dinner. I also have an additional "good fruit" today. So I again I am not cutting anything out until I; 1. feel better and 2. am closer to the 150lb I am supposed to weighing. No creative recipes as I just don't have the need for creativity at this point.

I am resurfacing from some busy days. Life has challenged me but despite the distractions and hurdles as of today I am still not where my weight should be 150. So I guess the results of the my additions are going alright. I am struggling with getting all the food in. Which does concern me only because I want to be sure that I am refeeding appropriately. But as the re feed guide says in a couple of reminders; I guess we are to use our best judgment when it comes to enough is enough. Like protein volumes and bread versus crackers. I just am conflicted with if we limit the protein do we continue with the prescribed vegetables? I did ask...
Does anyone know if there is a "Working Mothers support"?
Here are my days; no need to post food as I mentioned before I am not the Creative Cook; just lucky to have food in the fridge (not eaten by the rest of the family) and the time/discipline to get it together before I leave for work, or even eating Meal 3 before 8:00pm.

Cookie ? Couldn't do it!
I was supposed to be on vacation this week and had to return home to work. Sorry, I am not adding more to this piece than my daily reports. I am a bit overwhelmed with everything around me and fight each day to find the inner calm to keep this my priority each day. I have found MY lack of "planning ahead" to be a huge issue with setting out each day with confidence and resolve that I am staying true to this Re Feed process. I too have felt very full on some days and others quite content. To top each day off this week; our weather has been giving us 105+ temps for 3 days. WHO WANTS TO EAT ANYTHING IN HEAT?
I am convinced that this program is going to work for me. I am just in "Reentry" again! And am preparing for what tomorrow will bring.

REFEED DAY #29

Cookie ? I did it! My husband said he would get the plain cookie for me today. (no chocolate and no frosting, plain!) He came back with a ginger snap!!! ;) God love him. He bought it because it had the most natural ingredients and no trans fats. The whole family sat around and watched me eat it.
Watch, tomorrow I will be the 2lbs up in my weight! :rolling:
I wonder since I never did gain 2 lbs on any one day. What would I use as a barometer of MY body's normal intake?

Done...?
Eeee gads!
Funny thing is I woke up to having lost a 1/4lb and no...I mean no ripe fruit or veggies in the Refrigerator. (Phyllis; I hope you are laughing!) Off to the local market around 7:00 am! With my 11 year old daughter
D~ I did ask them this AM; along with a big "thank you" for their efforts. I will be sure to wrap this post up with their reply before I move out to...
Maintenance!
God Bless all of you...for your involvement and support!

Hi Ev
I never gained the 2 pounds in one day on refeed either so, technically, I don't have a limit either....DOES THAT MEAN I CAN EAT AS MUCH AS I WANT AND NEVER HAVE TO WORRY????? LOL I'm just kidding...I KNOW that is not the case.
Just use your common sense and the after diet rules and you'll do fine!
Phyllis
