Hi All
I started my refeed this morning after reaching 145.2 pounds! My refeed days are: 4 to 8 and then 10 12 13 16 17 20 21 24 25 27 29 30.
Because I have a bunch of pre-weighed meats still in the freezer I will be using some of the packages of meat pieces (that I would normally have used for stir frys) to bring the other cuts up to weight....if there's still some left over after re-feed my hubby and I will be having some meals with a couple of filet mignons each (or whatever works!)...nothing is going to go to waste...OR waist!! ;)
Today's food:
Breakfast: Zucchini Pancakes, 100g new fruit-- blueberries (roughly 1 cup or 2 large handfuls)
Snack: Plum
Lunch: 140g filet mignon/sirloin pieces (to bring the filet up to the proper weight), 130g mushrooms sauted with beef, and celery sticks (I added my additional amounts of meat and veggies to this meal instead of spreading it between two meals. As the weights continue to grow I will start dividing them between lunch and dinner)
Snack: 12 saltine minis
Dinner: 110g Tilapia with fresh dill, 115 g asparagus and a wedge of tomato with garlic and fresh chopped basil
Snack: 12 saltine minis/grapefruit

Phyllis,
CONGRATULATIONS!!! :party1: You crossed the very "THIN" line that divides the diet and Refeed. I'm so happy and proud of you!
Wow! So much fruit to eat!!! Yumm!!! I don't know how I will cope with the fruit during Refeed. As it is right now, most of the time I only eat 2 fruits a day. Only on those very hungry days I've eaten 3.
I'll be reading this thread religiously, since I'm hoping that I'll be chasing you soon!!!
Congratulations again!!!

Phyllis, maybe you can explain to me the "new meat". I'm not really a meat eater so when it says "any meat with no fat" what would that be? I'm not sure what kind of meat to add when we start adding "new meat".
It also says "any part of a chicken or turkey" so would that make ground turkey okay?

YAY!!! Congratulations on making it to refeed!!! I'm so happy for you.

:nerd:Question: During the diet we trigger the HGH. After refeed is that still triggered for a while? Is that the purpose of refeed??? I'm so Happy for all you going into refeed!!! I hope I can understand all this better and make it someday. I'm only day 12 and really admire those of you who stuck to this for so long! I feel like it's been FOREVER for me lol!

"New meat" includes lamb and pork!! And any part of the chicken....and any kind of fish. Isn't that exciting??
Phyllis

So pork doesn't have fat in it? Is there a certain cut I should get? I'll probably stick to chicken but it would be good to get some variety in there. (I don't know much about meat...)

Hi Ann!
Welcome back! Get on the wagon, but this time wear double seat belts! So, you can't get off easily!
PhyllisRis

Hi Ann...
Welcome back...this time MAKE IT STICK! Be 100%....and I MEAN 100%! Don't cheat....consider your food as your medicine and don't take more (overdose) or less (underdosing). Treat other people's food (and their leftovers) as THEIR medicine and not yours!
There....that's enough tuf love! I hope you really steel yourself and go for the long run! I KNOW you can do this diet...if I could, YOU can, too! Be determined and don't let others (who are probably secretly jealous of your weightloss success) derail you from what you know deep down in your heart is the right thing to do!
YOU GO GIRL!
I'll be here for you....in person, too, if you want to get together.
Phyllis

I would recommend creating a whole new ticker....remember to save the web address they give you once you've created the ticker. You could copy and paste the web address into your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and then bookmark it for easier editing later.

Phyllis~the friend that got me involved in this diet (who I have referenced in another post)told me that she and her sisters celebrated and honored their combined losses (20, 40 and 60) by burying a pair of their old jeans! They got a big chuckle that their loss equaled another sister!
I will celebrate and honor your determination tonight by sharing your story with my family! Congratulations.

Hi....
The reason I ate breakfast so early this morning was because a close group of friends were meeting today for brunch at 10am. Knowing that I wanted to be eating something while they were eating high carb/sugary food I ate bkfst early so I could then eat my lunch with them at 10:30. It worked out quite well and I was totally fine! My friend (the host) made toast for everyone so I had her toast one for me without any butter and then I sprayed it with butter flavored cooking spray and put garlic powder on it! It made me feel like I was part of the party!

You are officially the Master Planner! :party1:
As I'm reading your Refeed diary, is it Ok to eat carbs twice in between meals, as long as, they are 2hrs. apart?
What else can I say? {goodjob}

"As I'm reading your Refeed diary, is it Ok to eat carbs twice in between meals, as long as, they are 2hrs. apart?"
I certainly hope so!!!! Considering that I could have eaten all 16 mini's at one time to equal my 2 cracker servings, I think I'm safe. I did the 2 hour spacing just for myself...not sure there's an actual rule about it....

Happy Anniversary Phyllis!!{bdaycake} I have a question...How does everyone get the .2 or .6 or whatever on their weight? Is that from a digital scale? All I have is the regular dial scale...what brand of digital do you recommend?
Thanks!
PhyllisRis
07-24-2009, 05:33 PM
Yes, I bought a digital scale....I don't remember the make or model...but I know it was less than $30. It's important to be able to weigh in 10ths of a pound so that you can more easily keep track of how much weight gain/loss there is....especially during refeed. I think you deserve to buy yourself a new scale.... :)

And, of course, I'll have some kind of veggie, but since I've been able to have so many throughout the journey, there is none that I've been especially craving. Oh my gosh Phyllis! You are the most amazing person ever! Thank you so much for all your posts during your diet and especially during your re-feed! I don't post that much, but I read alot on these forums. I'm gonna miss your ubiquitous postings! It won't be the same without you! You have been an inspiration. I think I have about 2 more months until re-feed (or more if my weight loss slows down), but the thought of it has been daunting. Hey Gang...
I'm not planning on GOing anywhere soon....I'll keep coming back as often as I can! You guys are like part of my family, now.... and it's hard for me to let go of people who mean a lot to me!!
It's been 3 days since my "parole"!! Friday morning and Saturday morning each showed a 0.2 lb gain.... and I was worried that I would keep gaining like that that eventually it would never stop! And I was worried that the cake that I had Friday night totally derailed me.... BUT...this morning I was down 1.6 pounds!! I was a little bit worried until this morning...whew!
I had a strange thing happen yesterday. I had some fund-raising cookie dough in the freezer....double, chocolate chunk, to be exact. So I decided to bake them yesterday. I sampled one of them and then about 30 seconds later my body felt weird!!! It wasn't nausea or anything, it was just a weird feeling (I can't find the words to describe it). I thought, "Oh, no! I can't eat chocolate anymore???" BUT...the cookie tasted so good! So...today I decided I should try to "condition" my body to accept chocolate...so I had another one right after my lunch (you're supposed to eat sweets no later than hour after a protein/carb meal) just to see what reaction I'd get...THIS time I didn't have that weird reaction! Whew....I mean, what would life be without chocolate at least once in a while???? :)
Tonight for dinner my hubby grilled boneless country spareribs with bbq sauce. I hadn't had bbq sauce in well over a year and it tasted just fine! We also had asparagus and I had a small amount of mashed potato (left over from Friday night!).
So far, so good!
Tomorrow night we're hosting our church Council's picnic...we are grilling burgers and marinated chicken breasts. I'm going to buy regular hamburger buns AND some sandwich thins. I'll have onion slices, lots of leaf lettuce, and tomato slices as burger/chix additions.... I'm trying to keep things as healthy as possible for all concerned. One of the men at our church is going to do 1PD...he'll be here tomorrow night so I'll work on him to sign up soon!!! (why is it easier to get guys to do this diet than the women I know???... LOL)
Behave yourselves all you guys still on the diet....hang in there....stay 100%....there really is a light at the end of the tunnel (and it's NOT an oncoming train!!)!

Phyllis you have done fantastic on this program! It was a long commitment of 100%ness that you went through and you are truly an inspiration to us all here. It has to be a bit scary not to have to be so regimented on a program and getting to eat different foods now. I have found that I am not so keen on wanting to sample sweets now. I am looking at food with a whole new pair of eyes and I see it differently then before. I think having a healthy fear of sweets or whatever my nemises is, will help keep the weight off.
Don't you worry that you will go back to some old habits if you eat some of the foods you used to eat? I do worry about that for myself.
I'm so glad you are willing to share your trials of your experiences outside of this program. It will help me to learn what I need to watch for in myself. Thanks again Phyllis for your sharing.
Congratulations, Phyllis. You deserve all the praise in the world for accomplishing such a wonderful goal - and even moreso, for helping the rest of us along the way. You are an amazing woman and I'm so honored to have been a recipient of your knowledge and caring.

Marie...
Yes, I too share your worries about slipping back into our old bad eating habits! BUT....I think having gone through the 1PD "course" we now have the knowlege we need to COMBAT those bad habits! PLUS...we will be much more aware of WHAT the bad eating habits ARE! If we keep the after diet rules in mind and are conscious of what we're putting into our mouths, I think we'll be fine!
Last night we hosted our church Council's picnic at our house. We supplied grilled chicken breasts (marinated in OJ, garlic, ginger, honey) and hamburgers (95% fat free) and I also had those wonderful sandwich thins along with regular buns. I also had fresh leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced red onion for the sandwiches. Everyone else brought a dish to pass so there was much good food...fruit salad, tossed salad, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, blueberry pie, and Frito chocolate peanut butter bars! And....I sampled (note the word SAMPLED) it all! I even had a small (note, again...SMALL) piece of homemade (by our Pastor) blueberry pie (my favorite pie ever)! But I made sure that I ate the pie within an hour of finishing my meal (which included carbs). AND I drank a lot of water all day and was careful during the day not to overindulge so I could then enjoy the picnic.
The scale this morning showed that I gained a pound, but I'm not worried about that as I've been going up and down within a 2 pound range since being on maintenance.
For lunch today we're having leftover chicken breast sandwiches....
Don't worry about life after 1PD....I think we'll all be fine!! :)
Phyllis
Hi Phyllis,
I have read in a few posts about eating pie, or a sweets within 1 hour of a meal what is that about? I'm just wondering is that the norm on maintenance too?
Have a great day.

Yup...no more bedtime snacks like a dish of ice cream!!! (whoever started that anyway??). You're supposed to eat sweets within an hour of finishing a meal that contains carbs.

Yes, that's what I had to do for my first blood test - fast for 12 hours. Please share with us Phyllis! How is it going? You are like a 1 PD Celebrity on these boards! Would love to hear your experience with maintenance and tips on what worked and what didn't!
