View Full Version : Underwear too big, anyone?

I have a kind of funny problem, but a GOOD problem to have (for a dieter, anyway!).

So, I started this diet as a size 18. Pretty soon, my size 18 pants got too large and I pulled out my "skinny jeans" which were size 16's that I had packed away for "that day when I finally lose the weight."

After I wore the 16's for a while, they got too big, and my friend (who also did this diet) gave me all her size 14's so I didn't have to buy new pants. So, I wore those until they were way too big and my co-workers finally nagged me into buying new pants.

So now, I've finally bought some pants that fit snugly (size 12's). But, I haven't bought any new underwear. I didn't even realize how big my underwear was getting because my pants were also so large! Now that my pants fit like they should, I have constant "bunching" if you get my drift!

TMI? Sorry, I just thought this was funny and had to share.

The only way I can see around this problem is to just not wear underwear. Works for me!!:jumping2: (just kidding)

It's hilarious to see your old underpanties fall down off of you. I posted about this a few weeks back because I thought it was so funny. Then I went through my drawer and pulled out a huge bag of old big underpanties and bras and threw them away.

I felt guilty about throwing them away, but who the heck is going to wear old, stretched out underpanties????

I recently had to raid my closet and start getting rid of clothes that just did not fit properly anymore either. Part of me felt a little guilty for just throwing the clothes away; but honestly, who would want to wear my old clothes? I think it would be different if they had been in better condition. I am one of the few short people my family, and the only other person who wears the size I wore is significantly taller. I don't think she would want high-water pants :)

Underpants are sort of easy to alter if you want to alter them. All you do need is some pins and a sewing machine. While wearing them, just pinch on the sides how much needs to be taken off, and sew that (on the inside) with a zig zag stitch with a straight stitch on top (the zig zag makes it so the knit doesn't ravel). You can sew down the elastic too. Things might get a bit high waisted but you can fold down the elastic band sometimes. I'm doing this because I bought some new underwear that are already looking to be too big, and I really like them D:

Yeah, I guess that would work :). I was chatting with a co-worker recently and I have decided to give her a first crack at all of the clothes that does not fit me anymore. Today we went into the bathroom and she tried on the skirt that I was wearing; it fit and looked better on her than it every did on me. Yikes! I guess it's a good thing for her that I am shrinking faster than I am able to shrink my clothes in the dryer. By the way, I broke down a couple of weeks ago and finally bought some new underoos. I had some funky bulges going on too, and then they were so lose it felt like I was wearing nothing at all, it was a very strange feeling.

For the ladies who are finding the same issue with your bras, go to www.support1000.org to donate any that are still in good shape. Great non-profit that makes a huge difference.
