{cheerleader} TASTY TIPS FOR DELICIOUS SALADS{cheerleader}
1. Include a small portion of fruit (from allowance) with your salad. This adds colour, texture and taste.
2. Use a large variety of vegetables for a basic salad- eg. A few slivers of red cabbage adds taste and colour.
3. Make a delicious salad dressing- 1 teaspoon low fat mayonnaise+ 2 teaspoons white vinegar +
1 sweetener. Makes a delicious sweet + sour salad dressing.
4. Use Rocket in a salad. Rocket is a type of lettuce but has a strong peppery taste. It adds zing to any salad. Fresh rocket is sold in small packets in the vegetable / herb section of most stores.
5. Use Herbs- these add flavour to all meals and can be used fresh or dried.
6. Add pieces of your crackers and sprinkle over the top of salad. This adds crunch, texture and taste.
7. Serve your protein (chicken, meat, fish, egg) hot with a cold salad. Combining food at different temperatures highlights the flavours.

A DELICIOUS salad dressing recipe :party1:
200 ml plain white vinegar
500 ml water
10 sweetener pills
½ teaspoon salt
Herbs
Method: {pot}
Chop up nice fresh herbs – like fennel, basil, thyme , rosemary, etc - in addition you can also use dried plain herbs (remember no msg and starch additives)…
such as: Sweet Basil, Parsley, Thyme, Mixed Herbs, a bit of Mint…
This makes a big bottle that you can keep handy in your fridge to pour onto salads and stir-fries...
Remember that you can use 20 ml of the above dressing mixed with your 5 ml of your Lite Mayo to make a creamy salad dressing, which goes very nice with Tuna Salad.
Alternatively you may mix the above with extra balsamic vinegar and a bit of sweetener to make a delicious sauce for sweet and sour foods such as chicken or prawns.
ENJOY!!! {elmo}

Here's a recipe for Cucumber Salad:
cucumber (allowance)
onion (allowance)
3 Tbsp. cider vinegar
3 Tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. celery seed
scant 1/8 tsp dillweed (or 1/2 tsp. of fresh snipped dill)
1 Tbsp. sugar (use sweetener equivalent) OPTIONAL
Slice the cucumbers and onion into bowl while weighing. Mix the remaining ingredients in a small bowl and pour over the cukes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Drain and serve. :plane:

I've tweeked this very delicious recipe so it's Cohen approved.
Cabbage (allowance)
Green onions (small amount from allowance)
Cooked, Shredded Chicken
Cracker allowance
Dressing: The two times I've made this, I just throw stuff in so I don't know exact amounts. (Yes, I too dislike people who say that. I need exact measurements)
Red Wine Vinegar - about 4 shakes
1 pkt splenda
paprika
Garlic
S&P
Cumen
Basil
I think you could add whatever herbs you think would taste good.

I had my best salad so far on this diet for lunch today!!
I measured out baby spinach, tomato and fresh mushrooms per my veggie allowance minus 10 grams. Then I put 10g of onion, 3 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar, 3 Tbsp. Equal, some fresh basil that I picked from my garden into a blender. Then I blended it all up. I grilled my chicken allowance, sliced it and put it on top of my spinach salad and poured the dressing over the top of everything! IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! AND....I thought in the future I could heat the dressing and make a wilted spinach salad. You could use other herbs in place of the basil to change the taste. Dill would be good for a fish salad.
ENJOY!! :hungry:

If you are a fan of French Vinnagrette you will love this dressing.
My favourite salad dressing:
Tsp of Mayo
3 - 4 tsp's of white wine vinegar
Half tsp of mustard powder
Salt
Pepper
Shake all ingredients in a jar and pour over your favourite salad. I find it particularly nice on Tuna or Chicken Salad.
Adding a little Fresh Corriander (cilantro) to salads also adds a great taste

Orange Balsamic Reduction Dressing
2 cups of Balsamic vinegar
4 oranges
Peel and deseed the fruit, then run it through a food processor so it's essentially a delicious orangey goop. Put it in a pot with the balsamic vinegar and bring it to a boil. Do not let it boil for more than a moment and immediately turn down the heat to a simmer. Let this reduce for a while (I let mine reduce for about 12 hours). The result is this sticky, sweet and sour (with a kick of orange) dressing that goes really nicely on salads (especially greek salads with feta in them). Sadly, this will count as a fruit allowance, even though this amount of reduction is enough to last for a few weeks at the least.
