Just wondering if anyone is getting itchy on this diet. For the past few weeks my upper body (stomach, chest, back) has been itchy like all the time. I haven't changed laundry detergent or anything, and I'm eating all the same food I have been for the past 2 months so I'm ruling out allergy. I have no rash...just itchy a lot.

Curious if anyone else observed this or if I should try to find some other source.

I get quite itchy under my arms at times. BUT...I used to have a spot on my back that would itch like crazy for awhile almost every day....now, it never bothers me!! Maybe my skin was stretched so tight that it made it itch??!!

Hi Melissa,

Could it be that your body isn't getting the amount of healthy fats as before the diet and so your skin is reacting? I was told I can take one fish oil supplement per day - and I haven't noticed itching. I suggest you check with your consultant.

For many years I've been scrubbing my body with a rough cloth (not the same one of course!) until the dead skin starts making little rolls (it may sound gross to some of you!) This a healthy middle-eastern practice that began whith the famous "turkish baths" all around the Middle East or Arab world. All my family does it including my two daughters. We do it at least once a month and when we haven't done it for a while our bodies start iching.

Now while doing 1PD I've noticed that a lot of more skin comes off than before, especially around my lower stomack, my back and the area between the armpit and the elbow. My theory is that I have far more extra skin in those areas that I don't need anymore and that the skin is trying to shrink, too. We don't do it on our faces, though.

Our skin always feels nice and smooth to the point that on that day we don't need a body lotion after our shower.

You can find this kind of cloths in any middle-eastern shop.

So, I believe that while losing weight we have far more dead skin to get rid off and that's why our bodies get itchy.

I hope this helps.
